    My husband had cancer. We were married 5 months before he died. He was getting SS. I quit my job, I had medical problems. But also quit also to take care of my husband. His income was all we had. He died January 1-23-2020. I believe he had covid at the time he died. But no one cared to check him because he had cancer. I filed for disability January 2020. It took me 2 and a haf years to get disability. I applied for ssi but was denied. Why cant I get survivors benefits?

    Does the surviving spouse have to be 70 to receive the full amount with full delayed retirement credits that her spouse was receiving since he filed at 70 years old? If the surviving spouse was only a healthy 55 years old, does she have to wait until 70 to get the full amount with full delayed retirement credits?

    I recently discovered that because I remarried before I was 60 years old after being widowed by my late husband whom I was married to for 26 years. I forfeited my late husband of 26 years Social Security that I was entitled to. I will only receive my social security that I earned in my lifetime. This is wrong.

    I would Like To Know How I Can Collect Benefits My Husband Pass Away 18 Years Ago And I Don’t Think I Have Gotten His Benefits

      You are entitled to the higher of your amount and an amount based on his earnings, but not both. Since he died 18 years ago, I’m guessing he was not receiving SS, so the rules are different for you based on whether he was collecting or not started collecting. You simply apply for SS benefits based on your account, and let SSA know you were married but he died 18 years ago. They will calculate which is higher, your account or “spousal survivorship”. This video is for still married, and divorced from the ex spouse.

    I started disability benefits at 55 (amputee) have the Wep applied and owe overpayment $5,000 I only get $80.per month. My divorced wife which I was married over 10 years passed at 57 while on disability benefit. Can I use her benefits and switch back and forth at highest amount?

      Disability is a special case. These instructional videos are for customary Social Security and cannot cover the complexities of SSDI.
      SSDI may have the words Social Security, but it is not funded at any amount needed to pay benefits and is considered welfare.

      Can you get survivors benefits and ssdi

    • @tonymanero5544
      @tonymanero5544 6 месяцев назад

      If you were receiving SS spouse survivor, it means your spouse was eligible for SS (paid in 10 years or more), and he is now dead. I do not believe your residency matters, and your benefits is governed by your dead spouse’s eligibility. If he was you were married when he was receiving SS, you can claim at age 60 71.5% of his FRA amount.
