I have to eat my words again, and say that canyon made a phenomenal bike and put in some great upgrades for consumers, defiantly thinking outside the box.
Regarding the stem you can now order it in any size 70-140mm for $200 on their website. Yeah it would be better to allow customers to select during purchase but imo this is a fair compromise. You can sell the parts you take off to another canyon owner looking for whatever size you have or in the case of the crankset anyone who owns a bike. It takes a little work but honestly not that bad to save $3-4k over a specialized or trek who will also gladly charge you $650 for their integrated bars to change stem sizes.
thats crazy, I mean its crazy the world we live, were custom stem lengths are a need, look at car dealerships or anything you buy in this out door world, everything is a markup I knonw it sucks but I think that this is a normal to make consumers buy, because what would happen is customer would choose the wrong one and want to refund or send back for free, this is a premium product you have to take some ownership as a consumer and know what you are buying to customize to YOURSELF is going to cost extra, same with the cranks, if you wanted this feature it would take longer for ship times and lead times, they have these bikes sitting in boxes ready to go, I couldnt imagine them have to box up every bike ready to order, it would take way longer and be way more expensive
The more companies' offer flexibility and customization in the ordering process, generally the slower it makes their order fulfillment and shipping processes, likely also makes inventory management more complex as it increases the number of possible combinations across all models they offer by 2-3x. All of this will just increase operating costs of their business and those costs will be passed onto the consumers, eroding their primary value prop of their brand and GTM advantage with direct-to-consumer. This is just my opinion but typically holds true regardless of industry.
Bought a CF SLX 7 a few weeks ago. It rides very well and the geometry was spot on for me coming from my old open mold frame. This include the new PACE bars which I have at minimum width with the tilted in hoods. That adjustable width is a game changer without having to disconnect anything..
i just cross tested this bike(slx 8), trek madone gen 8 and the giant propel advanced pro 0. this is the one i liked the most and i think i will buy when it will get available again in november. before the test, i was very hyped about the madone gen 8, but at the end was the one that i liked less. the aeroad looks bulky, but when you ride it it’s light and nimble, but at the same time very planted when you get crosswind conditions. i think that canyon engineers found the right formula, at least for me they did 😊
My cycling friends are partial to Cannondale, Trek, Specialized, etc. I ended up getting a Canyon Endurace to start and still love the bike, but wanted something racier for short fast rides. Ended up buying a 2023 Aeroad SLX 7 w/ 105 Di2. After a couple of mods it's down into 16 lb territory and is a blast to ride. Ended up getting both bikes for under $10k, including some Lun Hyper D45 and D67 wheelsets. I do wish I had the nice to have features of the new Aeroad, but with the sale pricing the last gen was a better value overall.
Hard to argue with what Canyon is doing in price to performance. I wish for two things: 1) the handlebar attachments were underneath and the top looked like Mathieu van der Poel's TdF bike (flat with white writing), and 2) you could just choose which handlebar you wanted at the time of purchase - straight or the aero PACE ones (same price, just choose). As it is now, I think you have to buy it with the straight ones and then also buy the aero ones. I guess the bonus wish would be the choice of aero bottles like Orbea, Trek, etc.
The bikes are not built to order. If there were customizable with crank length, stem length, bar options, costs would go up. My guess is the bikes are packaged overseas and shipped from US warehouse to consumer.

Nice review but its just another same, same carbon bike like hundreds of others. I personally also think its rather ugly (like many of its same, same carbon copies). In other words, its getting very boring. Of course not your fault.
yea all the bike companies have reached a plateau
3-5k cheaper than the big 3...
Who’s the big 3 bro
specialized trek giant
Wow@! I can literally see your face of rage as a customer walks through the front doors, chest out, and rolling a new 2025 Canyon CFR.
Your face turns red as you cross your arms and shout, how dare you!@ Gotta Laugh, I'm in retail myself, and I've been there and witnessed that.
lmao what can I do, the bike is loved by a lot of people and it is popular, so I just show off the product and let people make the judge
The handlebar is ugly as fuck. This groove for the mount or tt bars ruins the whole thing. Epic fail for me.
yea I think it should come with the team logo on there, but the coolest thing to it for consumkers is the aero bar position
@@GCPerformance18 True but who will buy that? Also not cheap!! I wouldnt buy such a aerobar OR i would buy a TT bike.
This is such a good package that is almost no brainer if you wanna buy a top end bike. Lower models are very good too 😎
454 come with 28stock tyre? Has Zipp not learn their lesson yet? ffs, still shipping 28c after they change their compatible chart to 29c is the minimum? What a JOKE.
It's canyons doing to put 28s on 🫣
Canyon is putting the tires on it, OP. Get a grip.
@@Eirikkinserdal Both is joke, no way Zipp didnt inform Canyon about the minimum width, and no Way Zipp doesnt know how Canyon specs their bike.

@@Chris-iv2ud yeah, that 1 mm is the end of days. Someone call ERTO or the UCI. Better yet - change the tire air pressure.
Hookless and press fit BB 👎. The rest 👍
yea I know shit sucks but need to go t47
Those shit Zipp hookless wheels …. No thanks
Those wheels are amazing
@@roadcyclist1 …no they are useless defective garbage and only dumb asses sold on marketing buy them….my friend has 12 stitches in his face to prove it.
@@occyman tell your friend to learn how to inflate to correct specifications. There is nothing wrong with these wheels unless you are a moron. Darwin award for your friend.
Especially when you are riding down an alpine pass with a gradual loss of air
@@Micha112233 they work perfectly as intended if you inflate them to spec. Just like any piece of equipment (car, bike, lawn mower), if you don't use it correctly, you can get hurt. Too many morons now a days that think everything needs to be child proof. Grow up
Why do they stick to their ugly design? Ugliness + zipp wheels + SRAM groupset... maybe this is bought by guys driving Volvo cars...
Hmm Volvo at least is safe car😅 , this bike with these hookless wheels will kill you one day....
it ugly. it look like ebike
Looks nothing like an ebike. Have you ever been on a bike before, lol?
this bike has been out and looked like this for a long time, I do not think it looks like an ebike
When you buy this bike for $10.5K Canyon includes a free certified moron certificate.
Oh look, another guy who can't afford this and is green with envy of those who can.
If you buy a bike that cost above $500 you're a moron tbh
lmao man, no mater what bike what price, what value they offer, someone will always complain about the bike
Dull design.
this design hads been around for a while, looks rigid and sharp
Don’t know why but I just don’t like how Canyon bikes look. They just seem plasticy, a bit too bulky and kind of amateur. I wonder how popular would they be if not MVDP.
the seem rectangular lol
Dura Ace version is $9,999 and it comes with the crap Shimano power meter.
Hookless rims, not for me.
