    Being black may not be the only reason but I do get what you mean, it could be your facial structure as well. Traditional Asians look nothing like westerners do of course. Some black men will do better or worse & so I think it depends on the person overall.

    • @nilechtv
      @nilechtv  Месяц назад +1

      I don't think it's doomed if you are black in Taiwan. I think you'll be fine. But my channel aims at educating guys on how to handle different situations so that they can be better prepared.
      The reality of the situation is that only a very small select niche demographic will be open to dating you here. This will apply to all black men here, maybe light-skinned ones less so. That is fine as well

      I don't want to generalize all Taiwanese women, but from my impression and from hearing other black men's experiences as well, that's the general trend. It's not a problem exclusive to Taiwan, but I can speak most confidently about this phenomenon in Taiwan as I have spent extended amounts of time here.

      @@nilechtv My very best friend is from Taiwan and even though she was born and raised there she was actively bullied and abused in school because she was a "half-breed" (she half Taiwanese half white). Despite how progressive they claim to be xenophobia and racism still seem to be rampant. I'm planing on visiting in the next year or two with her so it will be interesting to see how people interact with us. I'm planing on going hiking in the mountains and going to the forests so I probably won't have a lot to report on the dating market 😆

    I think your hair is making dating kinda harder for you. If you was already in a relationship then it would be fine. But always put your best foot forward. Especially around Chinese. They can be very judgmental about every little thing. I think if you had dreads you'd have an easier time and would look super cool. Good that your still trying tho.

    • @nilechtv
      @nilechtv  2 месяца назад +2

      It's not the hair. I've been to Taiwan numerous times, with low buzz cut lined up, etc, and the state remains the same. I'm currently growing it out for specific look that I can style once the hair is of a certain length. It just needs to go through the unpleasant phase to get there.
      As for dreads, I mentioned in the video if you want to attract that specific niche of taiwanese girls that are into black men (5% at the absolute most), by all means do that, but it won't appeal to the vast majority of the girls here. And of those girls that are already into you (because they like black men), it won't matter much as there are no black people here to begin with.
      Chinese and Taiwanese are very different culturally. For those who haven't been to Taiwan, they tend to make assumptions about the culture because there is not much knowledge on the country outside of western media representations.
      But as for Asia, it is almost universal throughout the continent that there is a white standard. That is pale skin, very thin, and eurocentric standards of beauty are what is favored. I've had numerous Taiwanese people including a Taiwanese girlfriend that I had, tell me that blacks are not really seen as dating prospects by the majority over Whites or Asians. I've even heard from other girls who I met here tell me that they think they are less beautiful because they have "yellow" darker skin and are not thin to the standard of the society. Meanwhile they were normal healthy bodyfat range. The eurocentric standard of beauty is very deeply ingrained, you will see girls wear this makeup on their face which makes their face look whiter and it's very common. You will see girls in the middle of the summer wear jackets fully covering their skin to avoid getting darker tan as well as umbrellas to avoid the sunlight. I'm in South Korea right now and see the exact same trends.
      It is therefore left that outside of Asians and White men, other demographics of men will face an upwards battle. It's not to say your experience will be terrible or impossible, because that definitely wasn't the case for me, but it is not the most favorable market. Other black men who have spent extended time in Asia have mentioned having similar experiences including globalceezy and flightmadness on youtube.
      Think about it like this, in Africa almost 100% of black women would be open to dating black men, here it is 5% tops and that's being generous. And many of those girls who will have casual relationship/sex with you, won't have long term plans of marrying you or living a permanent life with you.
      Hope I clarified some things. And this is not to disparage Taiwan, it is one of my favorite places and the people are very friendly and open. I will make a video on Asia as a whole at a later time as I think it will be important insight to share.

      Almost everything he said in the video applies to mainland China. The girls that are genuinely interested (not just curious) in black guys usually speak English, are into hip hop/ rap culture and Afro music, and most of them have dated a black guy in the past. However, I expected him to be more successful because he’s American. In the mainland, being from a developed country gives you extra points. I have had some girls show interest because they assumed I was American and suddenly lost interest when I told them I wasn’t.

    • @brokelaowaiinchina
      @brokelaowaiinchina 2 месяца назад +1

      As for the ghosting, it usually happens because she told her friends or family members about you, and those people said something racist or xenophobic. So if a girl says you’re the only foreigner she’s ever met, the odds of her ghosting you later are high. The other reason is some of them assume all foreigners are rich, and when they realize that’s not the case they bail out quietly.

    • @nilechtv
      @nilechtv  2 месяца назад

      @@brokelaowaiinchina I can see that happening where when they find out you're not from USA but say an African country, they lose interest. I know in Taiwan that there is some looking down at "poorer" countries specifically Indonesia and Philippines .
      As for my success, I won't say I didn't have success. But it was almost exclusively to the girls in that specific "niche". If not strictly hip hop girls, then westernized and English speaking at the minimum
