I am mixed too, but from tainan. Black American and Taiwanese from San Diego, California, for 18 years. Most of the black mixes are from Africa ( I don't know why)....
Boy I hope someone will give me an interview and ask my opinion when I finally go to Taiwan, when I go to another country I don't have any expectations I go with a clear mind and by doing this, there is no chance of being disappointed. I love food I am a Chef who cooks International cuisine and Asian food is something I love to cook a lot because of the health benefits. I am friendly and outgoing I am a polyglot who loves languages, I have watched so many Cdramas I am learning Mandarin without learning Mandarin phrases by listening to these series. Unfortunately, the Europeans have painted a picture of Africans and Black people as mean aggressive people who are so scary, we have complained about abuses but not that it has been recorded many times for the whole world to see. Many Chinese Americans knew about the abuses that we have suffered but they didn't say one word they stayed to themselves and just stayed quiet, well now they are experiencing the same things Black people are facing and they don't like it. When we are oppressed we fight back and if it wasn't for the Black Struggle in America fighting for our rights, it would have been difficult for other races of people to come to the US.
Honestly my parents experienced so much racism in US even before COVID, but like you said they were quiet and never stuck up for themselves. Only the new younger generation are more vocal about this so people think we only suffered now, not before.
I think it is impolite to speak Chinese if there are some foreigners and majority of Chinese in the group talking. Foreigners might feel they are excluded.
Dreadlocks is now considered offensive considering the history behind the name. The hairstyle is called locks and was popularized by Rastafarians in Jamaica. Box braids is also another hairstyle that black women wear to reduce daily manipulation of their hair and/ or express themselves. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos👍👍

很棒的街頭訪問,第二位衣索比亞小哥說的沒錯,畢竟只有自己聽不懂其他人的語言的時候更能夠體會。
三年前去交換學生時,當身邊有比較多日本人或是韓國人,但他們不講英文時,真的會有被孤立的感覺。
希望這小哥的實驗室同學能夠多多體諒,也許可以先用英文帶他融入團體,再慢慢教他一些中文會更好。
当我刚来到非洲的时候,一开始很多人向我打招呼,用斯瓦西里语,当时我还听不懂斯瓦西里语,不知道他们对我喊什么,每次我都是必理他们的。后来才知道他们是在跟我打招呼,并且我发现他们不是因为我是外国人才打招呼,而是当地人之间即使不认识也一样会打招呼。每个地方的习惯真的很不一样,但我慢慢理解了,这是一种热情的表现。

@@許銘-l2p 重點是群體中就是一個或兩個人不懂其他人的語言,用一種大家都聽得懂能溝通的語言是尊重,也是尊重少數的體現,這跟主要群體剛好在台灣或歐美沒有關係。我在香港工作時,其中一個同事是美國或澳洲人,大家一起就是用英語交談,我在日本時有除了我外都是日本朋友的聚會,他們除了偶爾彼此會稍微用日文講一下外,主要大家對話也盡量用英語,這是對不懂那個語言的人尊重。

我在澳洲生活圈有日本人所以常常在對話中使用全英文會非常累因為朋友群大部分還是台灣人,但是我們會儘量講。因為我知道對方不需要學習使用到中文。大概70%英文。可是來如果外國人來台求學可能真的要以50%中文50%英文來溝通我覺得很合理畢竟是在中文環境求學。有些人可能會覺得台灣人英文很好,但其實並沒有😂我倒覺得如果是求學就儘量多聽多學。上升到負面理解真的有可能會造成誤會。(個人意見)

台灣是多元民族的地方,對我而言,任何人種只要是喜歡台灣、不傷害台灣,我都非常歡迎🎉,不會有任何歧視,當然,外國朋友自己也要有正確的態度,其實,我也看過有些外國朋友不是很友善,感覺對我們很驕傲的樣子;也看過有些外國人喝的爛醉如泥倒在別人的店面門口滿臉血,我和老闆還試圖幫助他,所以,不管在台灣還是在其他地方,人與人之間應該是互相尊重才是。

建議Jay 以後訪問時,可以將麥克風稍微再壓低一點,手部也不要那麼延伸過去,因為這樣會讓受訪者感到侵略與壓力。影片中第二個來自衣索比亞的朋友,畫面中感覺身體已經有點往後。你的街訪內容真的蠻不錯的,給你一點點小建議~~~

捷運座位問題有可能是因為純粹不喜歡跟別人靠太近,如果坐捷運時非不得已不會想坐陌生人隔壁,就算坐了也會盡量縮小自己,減少接觸。
因疫情關係!

對於是否用英語交談這件事
會不會是因為那幾位台灣人有人英語不(太)好,所以那群台灣人才選擇講國語,畢竟英語不是習慣用語。
不過這也說明了台灣的國際化要從語言開始。
不管是自己去瞭解別人,還是讓別人來瞭解你。

說真的,我覺得講英文很難,就算我在學校考試成績非常好,但要講英文時,腦子想的都是我的文法對不對啦,用這個單字恰當嗎之類,我們早期的英文教育方式是錯誤的。請第二位非洲朋友不要太難過,我在日本時,跟對方講英文,他還是都回你日文,根本不鳥妳的!
我自己的英文口說練習經驗,是盡量不要在腦中翻譯,直覺去說出來,多錯幾次就會更順暢,同時去吸收母語者口語的用法~

如果說台灣人在國外唸書,然後四個台灣人,對著兩個美國人一直用中文討論,這還比較像是不尊重🤔
真的到什麼地方生活,就要學習當地講什麼語言,不然即使有同學會雙語的人,還需要兩邊解釋 會很累😓影片中的人,比較建議他主動詢問不懂的地方。

或是coloured people
而非直接使用black,會友善很多

有感覺他們在聽到你一直說黑人跟black的時候稍嫌尷尬,但可能是我的錯覺😢
我覺得之後改問你覺得
「你的膚色」有沒有遭受什麼不好的經歷
好像有比較好
因為感覺在國外講到
White Black Yellow Brown
這幾個都是敏感詞
就像應該不會對華人說:
你身為Yellow 有沒有被歧視?

在美國政治正確玩壞的才特別有這種現象,加拿大就不會稱他們的黑人是African Canadians而是就稱Black Canadians他們也不會被冒犯
你講的比較像是美國,非洲人比較沒那麼介意

姑且暫不談外國人,有些【台灣人】,在同一空間裡(在你旁邊),會自動切換成母語模式交談(客家語.上海話.粵語.越南語.泰語...),這真的讓人感到不禮貌(無禮),好像你們說我不好的話,不想讓我知道,而我就在你們面前,不論這是有意或是無意,這是讓人當下感受很不好,扣分的舉動,會覺得你這個人不真誠,會讓人想遠離你
別抱怨台灣人這樣,任何國家的人都這樣,那些會說中文的外勞和外籍人士也都是這樣比比皆是,這是人性跟國籍無關
你這種思維跟國外種族歧視的Karen 一模一樣ㄟ
如果人家不認識你那這樣超正常,要是因為路人在同個空間自然講他們的母語這樣就被冒犯到,那真的是你的問題,以為世界繞著自己轉。當然如果你們是朋友就另當別論,在朋友面前自顧自聊母語的確不尊重
