    The video was very helpful. I'm a DIY guy and a technician by trade. I bought a rework station just to replace the charginging port. Opening the flat cable connectors for the display and the digitizer was a challenge. FYI It made sense to leave the piece of tape on the switch assembly in place. This supports the switch assembly opposite the flat cable once the assembly is pulled free from it's mounting location.. Also I had both speakers come off the board while handling so I had to solder them back on. I came up short on the black lead closest to the power switch and had to splice in an extension. I used 1mm diameter solder which was too thick. Turns out I had some 0.5 in my stash but this was after the fact. Having the proper equipment is a must; a lighted magnifier, the rework station with a pencil tip, solder wick, small diameter solder, a P00 philips head.
    These tablets are an older version and I doubt there are many still in use. My son has used his every day for the last 3 years and it still works great! Now the charging port is like new!

    Awesome video, easy to follow.
    The hint about the "little bit of solder" (not too much) for the pins helped.
    Just finished replacing successfully :)

    8:07 The 70L model has that small tape as well, but I doubt that's tape, looks more like tape wire, an antenna or something.
    Anyway if you can't figure out why the whole board won't come out, even though all screws have been removed, it's because of that thing. Once you remove it, almost immediately it snaps out of its place. It snaps because there are some plastic brackets that also hold it from the other side, but those won't release it until that tape comes out first.

    • @FixItPlanet1
      @FixItPlanet1  5 лет назад +1

      Yes it is definitely not just tape. Some sort of antenna. Seems like we figured out what it is exactly but I've already forgotten. :0

    • @JoTheVeteran
      @JoTheVeteran 5 лет назад +1

      @@FixItPlanet1 it was glued to the inner frame. With a little tug, it comes out.
      Overall your guide is a good one.
      For the life of me, I couldn't understand what was holding down the board. I wouldn't be able to repair it if it wasn't for your video. Or I would have torn that tape which, who knows what would entail. So for that, you have my thanks.
      But you better leave an annotation, or whatever youtube permits these days. Or someone could go, and cut the thing right off.

    Hi good day, can you please tell me the tools name's and where to get them. The tool you hold the board with, the stripe you use to remove/extract the thin, the small hot air gun, the seringes or whatever you use to pour the alcohol and the flux (seems like a paste), the name of the flux/paste.
    Also do you use some kind of magnifying glass for soldering?
    My regards, thank you

  • @rangerstl07

    That little odd piece of tape at 8:05 you didn't know the use of is probably the "warranty void if removed" tape.

      lol (actually it is an antenna but that is funny).

  • @PolLight3000

    I have to replace the USB port too. But how did you manage to open the cable connector at 4:12 without breaking it (mine is now broken at the sides of the little flap and now it cannot be locked anymore)? But the major problem is the socond connector, it cannot be opened at all without totally breaking! Unfortunately I now also have to change this foil cable because just one contact on the foil has gone lost too (I guess I have a very bad day!...).

  • @orepoutanes

    At 17:15 you add flux, what does this do? Why couldn't you just solder?
    Thanks

    • @FixItPlanet1
      @FixItPlanet1  3 года назад +1

      Flux aids in the flow and bond of solder. It also works to dissolve oxidation.

    Hi, I know this a relatively old video to leave a comment on and hope for a reply, but I'll shoot my shot just the same!
    The video seems to have no sound or perhaps youtube settings got tweaked, but is it possible to get a second upload site? Or a check through settings to be able to hear what you're working on, and how I can hopefully do the same? I know that your voiceover was critical to other commentors, and I'd love to have the same success!
    Thanks!

      Unfortunately the back ground music that was license free at the time decided to reverse that and claim copyright. You tube did not allow removal of just the music and required deleting all sound in the affected areas. Sorry

    Why is it so important to take the old solder out of the support holes? Does that really matter apart from doing a "perfect" solder replacement? Surely only they five connectors really need this level of care?
    Thanks for tutorial, going to try this!

    GREAT GREAT GREAT Job/Video. Am curious, did you put in a New PowerPort or remove and resolder the Old One?
    I'd luv to do this but don't have the cool small solder tools/material you have, so may find it more cost efficient to find a local person in Cincinnati to do it for me. Still, LUV'd the video, Thanks for taking the time and doing a thorough job.

    the micro sd card slot is loose because you didnt remove the card before pulling off the rear case, it catches on it and either snaps the card or does what you have there.

    We had the same problem with the same lenovo Tab Model, we have replaced the charging USB port with no problems. worked fine for one day but now tablet charges only when closed and charges too slow. We have checked USB again for broken pins but seems everything is fine, but issue still remains. I would appreciate your advice. Thank you!!!

    • @FixItPlanet1
      @FixItPlanet1  4 года назад +1

      You have three main internal properties to consider; Battery, Charge port, and Charging Circuit. The charging cable and block are two external properties to consider.
      Double check under a microscope if possible. if any one pin is not fully connected it would do what your describing, however there are other possible causes. Such as high resistance battery, or defective charging/data cable, or incorrect or defective charging block, just to name a few examples.

      That process is shown at the beginning of this video. It is not difficult. A thin pick is inserted between the frame and the back cover and slides around the tablet pulling the back off as you go.

    • @FixItPlanet1
      @FixItPlanet1  8 лет назад

      There are no magnets in this tablet (that I recall) other than the speakers which are very low strength. Unless she put them right against her chest I don't think they are strong enough to have any effect on a pacemaker, however I'm not an expert on that sort of thing so you should check with her doctor and verify safety concerns.
