- My buddy at work had to replace a brass sewer clean out cap and he gave it to me to melt down.I was going to give this little ingot a mirror shine but decided at the last minute to try something I haven't before. I broke out a ball peen hammer and gave the ingot the business. After a final polish, I think it turned out pretty cool and it looks amazing.
I hope you all enjoy watching this one as much as I did making it...

I hope you all enjoy this episode. I did a simple brass melt of a sewer clean out cap that resulted in a pretty cool ingot. I had planned on shining it to a mirror finish, but in the moment, I decided to try hammering it instead to see how it would look. I wasn’t disappointed and I’m curious to see what you all think. Let me know in the comments and if you want to see me try more of this method with other metals. I love you all and stay awesome my friends!
You interested in teaching someone new to the world? Mesa local, would love to learn some tricks and tips.
Just bought the Devil Forge 10 KG, with the foam. Waiting for the rain to subside some and then thinking about going to do up some brass for my first time.
What I like about your channel is you don’t faff about like the big well known stacker.
I won’t mention the name but you know who I mean.
It is more for girls and weak boys. It is a shame because he could do his videos with great content without the poofy bits like hiding his food, having ASMR in his titles, smashing the ice with all manner of objects etc.
I like it kept down to Earth and your videos are just that.
Great looking bar. Nice finish and worth the 45 minutes of extra work 👍.
The hammered finish is absolutely stunning, I was intrigued with it before the polish, after though had my eyes falling out of my head! Absolutely love it!
I also really liked the tips you left us in the video. I never knew you needed to warm the tools for that reason, but always thought you should for the same one as the cast, moisture! So I've learned something else about this amazing Hobby. Glad you're sharing those tidbits with us.
I never miss one my dude, cheers from the frenchies 🍻 🇨🇵
And by the way, this watch looks nice.. 👀
I'm sure it would make a nice coin 👀👀
Roughly how much does it cost to get into the hobby?
Didn’t think the hammer was gonna be a big deal, but I was wrong. That looked cool as hell.
The cool thing about brass is just the sheer weight of anything made with it.
The final product looks great and unique to what I’ve seen on other channels
Man, that thing is awesome. Looks like a gold bar. It would be a cool way to finish the top of all your bars from now on.
Sweet bar!
Nice hammer work!
I made lots of coin rings years ago, and a lot of them got a hammer finish when I was done making them!
Thanx for a great vid buddy!
Please use ice every time. It’s so satisfying to watch!
That highly polished hammered surface is really nice.
It turned out gorgeous!! Love the texture and high gloss 😍
That’s pretty cool, I’m a fan of the hammered look.
I always wanted a hammered copper sink in my house. My brother in law in Indiana has one in the bathroom of their guest bedroom. It looks really elegant. Keep it up!
turned out great my friend !! is a great look...glad to see ya posting.. be well and enjoy the cooler weather as we know summer is looming LOL..
That’s a cool brass bar. Awesome job 👍
Nice finish. Much more interesting than just plain polished.
Weekend Stuff
Absolutely gorgeous ingot from a simple melt.
Next to the clocks you did near the beginning, this is my favorite. Turned out great.
Thanks Brandon!
That finish turned out great! Nice ingot
That finish turned out pretty cool, different than the same old same old. Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the textured finish, nice work!
Awesome brass hammered ingot thanks for sharing
The finish on the bar is cool I like it 👌 good job
came out looking so cool and shiny
THis is interesting and cool. I think more interesting is "How to get hammered making a brass ingot."
Dang, that's an amazing finish!
Believe it or not, hammering brass and bronze makes it stronger.
Digging the different type of finish. Never actually knew how they got metal to look that way.
Hey! How are you? Tell your friend thank you. Melting a myriad of objects is one of the best parts of melting. My fav one was when you went for that walk and found all that trash. I wanted to be nosey and ask if you've ever thought about doing anthill art? That might be an interesting video. If not, that's ok too. 😂 I hope you and your wife had an excellent Valentine's Day!! I hope ❤️was in the air!
P.S. That bar turned out beautifully!!!
Hey Tracy! I am doing good, how are you? Wonderful I hope. I do love melting down different objects I haven’t come across before. I need to go for another run in search of things to melt, and clean up the landscape, that was a favorite of mine also! I have wanted to do an anthill pour, but I don’t really have ants like that. I could go out and find one, but digging it up without a hose and water in a remote location might be a bit of a challenge. I’ll see what I can do though 🙂 Thank you as always, I hope you had a good Valentine’s Day as well! Love is always in the air 😉
Talk to you soon…
@@TheGrowingStack I wondered if the ants living arrangements might be a problem. I forget that not everyone is so lucky to have a million fire ant nests right in their backyard. But don't worry, if there was a flood out there, they'd make a raft and survive while the rest of us perish! I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe one day the stars will align and it COULD happen and you find an 🐜 nest. Until then, I'll ❤️ watching what other great ideas you come up with! 😂😂😂
Thanks again! Love ya Tracy!!
Very nice, looks gold.😉
That is a beautiful bar..
great work
Thank you very much! 👍
Hammered finish looks great after polishing. Nice vid. 👍How is the hunt for broken cymbals to melt going?
Short and Sweet 👍😎👍😎👍😎👍😎👍😎👍
Have to admit. That's damn purty.
Its soo fancy looking
I like melting copper as the dross is just dust so you don't lose a bunch of metal in it like you do with aluminum.
That looks pretty neat. Think about doing that to Nordic Gold if you feel like it. It would probably look pretty cool too. Great job as usual, thanks for the upload. Tell your brother good job on this weeks' music.
Thank you Leslie!! I’ll let him know. Maybe a hammered Nordic Gold cube? 👍
Thank you as always!
How to Make a Brass Hammered Ingot? Hammer it with a hammer 🤣
turned out great though, nice to see
Hammered look is cool! Need a bigger hammer. Cheers from Wisconsin!
Thanks 👍
Very cool
This bar looks awesome.
Thank you Ondra! I love how it turned out too!
It looks rustic
An other nice piece 👍😎
that does look pretty cool! Love the vids and music ;)
Thanks! 👍🤘
that looks amazing👌
Thank you my friend!
You should mix borax with crushed glass to prevent oxidation while you're melting brass.
Great video, I have to admit at the beginning I was like that’s it, but damn that finished product was beautiful sir! Also how do you like the new angle grinder? I’ve see the brand at the store but don’t own any of their tools? Thanks for another great episode!!
Cool! I like it
Broski thats some polishing for sure,,,,, I wonder if the bar was smooth if you could have made it a mirror finish
Nice bar. 45 minutes of hammering, ick. But then , you’ve melted a pallet of cans 😀
It was a good arm workout for sure. Thanks Jim!
nice piece!
Thank you my friend!
way to go ruby
Awesome job brother maybe it would be easier hot when you stipple the bar bruv
Is smelting worth getting into?
That realy is a good look on that brass! How about if you make a buddha statue and give it your hammered effect
Ooohhh, that is an awesome idea. I’ll see what I can find out there. Thanks Matt! 👍
Brass Hammered Ingot... wasn't that a Cannibal Corpse song?
Hammer Smashed Face 😂
First comment!
No you weren’t.
Sadly the auto bot got the first one, maybe next time bro
Hi again I’m going to save gold and send some gold for u to me
T
What is the hammering supposed to do?
Just something different, versus the same old smooth ingot. 👍
@@TheGrowingStack thank you, great channel.
Melt*
You loose a some metal by cutting. Alot of that can be broke by use of a bolt cutter.
Love the ingot. New ideas lol.
Ball peen hammers…is there anything they can’t do?
☹️ Promo*SM
So are you going to like sell / scrap this stuff or something? Or keep it indefinitely in times of financial and global crisis. That stand is getting pretty full.
