I'm not against it. I remember the first "big fleet box" that Warcradle released (the Ice Maiden) that came with building instructions. The unit entries (and build instructions going with it) got tweaked as time went on and the unit cards were obsolute in no time. I'd rather have them point to a relevant online entry that can evolve with a truely living rules set like DW. Because that first Ice Maiden instruction set is paper waste by now.
Great Unboxing and review. The new Levant support sprue does look great. I preordered the box and cant wait to build the Vauban myself. Thanks for this video.
Haha, that definitely sounds relateable! Tbh, that model is so massive that it alone justifies the price tag (at least compared to most other miniature producers)... Any other models that make it off the spue and get painted is just a bonus to me at this stage. It just speaks volumes about just how much you can get out of the sprue system Warcradle has designed.
I've been using the piece/superglue/greenstuff/superglue/piece sandwich for years and that's the strongest way I found to assemble non perfectly joining parts ! Great review ! 🎉
It's definitely one of the coolest releases Warcradle has made yet. And it's a suberb centerpiece for an Alliance fleet. In fact, with the Couronne and Vauban, you can probably build a superb French force with some of the best flagships imaginable. The Oriflamme sadly isn't the best flagship out there and the Magenta/St-Michel are good, but very niche.
Thanks! That's why I love the Warcradle sends me these sets before release... It's also a chance to help people with assembly for the increasingly more complex models. But I sure love those models, even if they are more complex than the first releases.
The one thing that keeps me nervous: such a big ship, with resin parts and all that... all on one tiny flight stand? What is your experience with this?
I magnetise all of my sea bases with 5*1mm neodymium magnets and I've got no issues at all. The models are well balanced for it and the thick flight stems from WC have a very beefy ball head joint... It holds up just fine. Just never pull the model up from a steel tray by the models itself and always by the flight stem itself. But I can imagine this might not be true if you use foam to transport your models. Then they might be a part prone to snagging (as any thin protrusion is with foam trays).
I am really happy they included the paper element to the box. I wish it was build instructions, but still a very nice touch!

I have way too much unbuilt DW stuff... but I need this box. NEED IT!
Thank you for the box review!
