I have a '04 GMC Canyon and I feel your pain working on the 2.8L I4 engine. I spent an uncomfortable afternoon replacing the power steering hoses, trying to get the hose ends back in the steering rack. The problem was the hose seal steel support rings were still in the rack body. after the steel rings were pried out, the hose ends and new seals went in with no problem. the best thing about the truck is it's paid for.
@@JDPDoingStuff it did thank you unfortunately the 2.9 is completely different and there’s no videos on the location of the regulator if there is one but good video explaining everything I’m sure it’s helped many others
Thanks for posting warts and all, good visual of remove and replace, my 05 5 cly looks the same, starting to crank longer to start, hope it’s this and not the pump , ugh!
I have 2006 cheve colorado ,having problem when start..and it locks engine for 15 minutes also called engine pass lock..it is random..I thought it may be due to fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator..please guide me to diagnose this problem..Thanks..Nazir
Nazir, I actually have not had that problem with mine. I did a quick google search and it sounds like it has nothing to do with the fuel pump (See google search link below). I do see that there are ways to bypass it, with a bit more research you could probably find out how GM fixes it. I would assume they would just replace the sensor box in the key switch. Sorry I am unable to help you with this one. Hi Shawn, It's been a while, but I think it's right around 50-60ish PSI. I no longer have that truck, so I cannot hook a gauge up to it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for posting this video. It helped a great deal in changing out our fuel pressure regulator!!!
Thats awesome. I'm glad my video helped.
what size oringfor lower connection. did it with the regulato
@@davidguzman3541 the o ring either came with the replacement or we transferred the old one over. sorry! dont recall!

Yes, I agree. A paid off rigg is the best! Luckily, I haven't had to replace the power steering in mine.
Thanks for watching.
7:10 had me dead thank you for this lol
and 8:36 this is me for sure lmao
Well it all worked out in the end! That's what matters.

@SethRecords Maybe you could film a video for the masses on the 2.9?
@@JDPDoingStuff This is true but I think mine is a fuel line unfortunately but if I find the location I will let it be known
Good job...thanks for teaching us..

Can a bad gas pressure regulator cause the smell of gas coming from engine?
Yes it can. And it evaporates quickly, so it may be hard to track down.

Does a 2012 chevy colorado 2.9 have a fuel regulator
It should have one. I'm not sure the difference between the two engines.
Thanks for the video! How long did the truck last you after the install?
About a year after I did the repair, I traded it in on a new Nissan Frontier. It was still running good when I traded it in. Hope that helps.
How much fuel pressure do these 2.9l 4 cyl pumps put out?
