It proves having a diverse writer's room brings a new perspective and funnier stuff. Love it all

I have been of the belief that there hasn't been a truly funny comedy movie in years, maybe decades, but now I think that I know why...the best comedy writers work on late night tv.
What, you don't think Will Ferrell showing off his paunch and pretending to have some kind of talent is the pinnacle of comedy?

Most 'comedy movies' are crappy indeed, regardless of the leading actor(s). (OK, not always regardless of them, but that's another conversation.)
The majority of "funny" movies irk me AF, especially those that include "daddy", "santa" or "baby", "kids", "rascals" or [animal name] in the title, usually coupled with adjectives like "nasty", "naughty", "menace", "bad", and so on. (Alright, I guess I've exhausted all the alternatives actually.)
As for this video; these are genre- or sub-genre parodies, and not "comedy films". Satirical/parodistic stuff is a diifferent animal; requires a whole another approach when writing.
Will Ferrell is faulty for taking those idiotic roles in those shitty movies, for sure

The Newspaper Movie with all the standard silver Timex watches of that era, was the attention to detail that pleased me.
More attention to detail - "Oscar Bait" is set in Pittsburgh (at least that's what the establishing aerial shot from Mt. Washington implies), and they took the trouble of having the car in the parking lot where Seth and Amber have their encounter show a Pennsylvania license plate.
Would love to see more of these! I can’t get enough of Seth being in sketches.

The grizzled old guy playing the editor in Newspaper Movie looked ten times more like the real Ben Bradlee than either Jason Robards or Tom Hanks did.

This segment is great and everything, but another hiatus? I have been watching several of these shows since the beginning of lockdown, and I have never seen some of these hosts go on hiatus so much. Unfortunately, my favorites, Seth and Jimmy Kimmel, seem to have taken the most so far.
