After years of laughing at these videos I finally went to a CrossFit gym to try it out. I was blown away. Fun movements, camaraderie, merch. Then I came to my senses and went back to safe, proven exercise. Nice people though.
As a CrossFit ambassador, it is functional fitness. As an elk hunter the idea of complete metabolic conditioning is key. My dad was an instructor, and as a firefighter, he helped to introduce it to DFD training. Improving overall physical fitness performance dramatically.
Double under crossovers were a skill too far for the CrossFitters to manage. It's such a niche move it should really only be done for fun or a skipping competition.

I would get absolutely obliterated in the rest of the events, but as a Dutchman I feel I would smoke the competition so hard during the bicycle event that I'd still earn a spot on the podium.

Crossfit makes its own logic. Also, a real outdoor bike race isn't supposed to be lapped- just one long stretch. The commentator is a perfect example of ignorance.
@@SantomPh plenty of bike racing is done on small circuits (criteriums or kermesse) ranging from less than a km to 7 or 8km. Its also common for road races to be run on circuits up to 40-50km in length. Want a longer race, do 2, 3 or 4 laps. It's easier for organizers to manage traffic and get permits to run the events compared to point to point.

The saddest thing about these 'athletes' is that they're all juiced to the gills. Imagine taking steroids just to win at adult gym class...and still losing 😂
Bro, they are failing at basic fitness. "Athletes" of their caliber not being able to string two reps of Double Unders with Criss-Cross at a slow pace, while any gym goer who has included skipping rope in their routine could do it with ease, is honestly quite sad.
I love how some "low to no financing at all" runners or bikers event have those tapes to measure laps and time and crossfit games are like "nope, we count by ear".

I wouldn't criticize the clean fails. They were pretty standard ways to fail a clean. And dumping front and jumping back is the safest way to do it. The guy that fell back could've been much much worse by crushing hit forearms with the weight.
I think the point is the amount of bail worthy rep failures we saw from professionals in a single event. They're clearly strong in the lift. They've just convinced themselves that they need to do all this other retardation and ruin the actually compelling movement.

1 hand between the bars if you're maximizing 1 handed control. 1 on the saddle if you're trying to look cool. People should go to a local bike race where a guy who makes $9/hr has a $7k bike...watch them for 30 seconds and they'll show you EXACTLY how move a bike.
It's crazy to me that with the marketing virality of crossfit, you don't think that most people have experience with it. Fact is, most people know enough crossfitters to see how often they get hurt lol.

In every other short-lap race (crits, cyclocross, Short track XC, etc), you ring a bell when competitors are on the final lap. It's common knowledge.
