Seriously!! I’m a CPA, I make decent money, and I would NEVER spend more than $25 on shampoo and conditioner combined. And the only reason I spend that much is because I use the shampoo and conditioner bars to cut down on plastic packaging. That being said, it still feels like a luxury to me - I would never look down on someone for buying Suave because that was always my go to before. Good shampoo and wayyyyy cheaper!

The funniest thing to me about the 'Pyramid schemes are illegal!'/'Just because it's illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen' thing is that if you think about it, the fact that it's illegal means it absolutely does happen. If it didn't happen, there'd be no point in making it illegal.
Yep that’s an old trope. If you want to see what vices people indulged in in some place or time, you see what things were made illegal by law.

I mean generally but not every law is passed because some new crime is thought up. A good example are trans bathroom laws. There wasn't some huge spike in trans people going rouge in bathrooms, people just didn't want to have to pee in the same room as a minority.
@@glitterberserker1029 in this case I think it's more a mix-and-match of stuff that happens and agendas. With trans people and bathrooms, bathroom inapropriacy happens and trans people exist, so joining both is a way of acting like they're treating the first when really is to convince themselves that their path towards making trans person illegal is some sort of "frog in boiling pot" thing

Sadsacks who won’t mind their own business are trying to pass those stupid laws because trans people using the bathroom that aligns with their chosen gender identity is a real thing that happens in life.

I was once taught by a former MLM salesperson that if you just want to shut down a pitch say no without a qualifying excuse for them to refute. If they push, use something generic like “I’m not interested.” It’s harder to overcome that objection.
Right! When someone asked me "why not?". I just said because I don't want to. And walked away.
I always get, "But WHY aren't you interested?" lol.

One time I got approached about one of these “opportunities” and I thought it was a joke so I just laughed out loud - I could tell immediately from their face that, oh, they were DEF serious, but that shut down the pitch right there haha
The statement, "You'll get a free gift. When you purchase something at the drugstore, you don't get anything free." Yeah, Brenda, but I'm also only spending maybe 10 dollars on my purchase, and it doesn't make my hair fall out soooo 🤷♀️
This reminds me of when I call the cable company to cut back my package, and they say they can't do that but they'll give me free channels. No, I don't want more channels for the same money. I was fewer channels for LESS money. The money part is the point.
And every once in a while I’ll score a BOGO/free gift on a drugstore brand at Ulta, so…
I get my personal care items at target, and they frequently have a buy x number of products or spend $x and get a gift card.

i went grocery shopping and got something free - a buy one get one free situation (basically 50% off), but still - it WAS free

I know! I was stressed out. Plus her attitude was so gross in general.
Most of the time the “free stuff” is something you don’t want and ends up just cluttering your house.
Usually, it's excess inventory that they wouldn't be able to sell otherwise.
My partner works at a local weed processing plant. The amount of crap they give away is astounding. The t-shirts are nice, but scattered about the house are buttons, carry cases, key chains, extra grinders, and a million rolling papers in a size we don't use. Best part? The company is now downsizing. 🤦♀

Right? My shampoo and conditioner costs around 5-6 bucks each and that's because I'm not on a budget. But I spent most of my life below poverty level and shampoo and conditioner were low priority and I went straight for the $1 V05 or Suave every time.

It's funny that she used Shoppers Drug as an example of not giving free gifts. They have one of the best point systems of any big box store. I end up getting about 300 dollars every year from just buying my day to day stuff.

the main reason I don't like MLM'ers as opposed to other sales-people is because when a salesperson approaches me, I know their end goal is to get me to buy their product, whereas when it's an MLM'er, me buying their product is just the first step.

I have had a disorder called Trichotillomania since I was 9. It means I pull out my hair, yes-literally. It’s a HUGE source of shame and embarrassment, it has been my whole life. I am now 34. I’ve been a part of countless support groups for many reasons. What grinds my gears is monat reps coming into our groups and using our heartbreak for profit. They pitch their product saying it helps hair growth, encourages it to grow faster etc etc. It’s so full of crap. If anyone knows a thing or two about hair growth, it’s us. These people are relentless.

Ah I feel you. I have its even more evil cousin dermatillomania. It’s “only” been 6 years but I have by far the worst case I have ever seen. I have multiple constantly infected spots on my face (I cannot see a doctor for them - thanks US health system). It is not about stress or self hatred for me; it is an autistic stim. That makes it nearly impossible to stop. I literally do it in my sleep. Here’s hoping we both find some way to make it stop.

I also see a video from a french electronician who demonstrates that this device does nothing, it is not controled by the app, and the estimated production cost is something like 15 dollars. I can find it for you if you're interested, but it is in french 🙂
I was wondering if it was just like a TENS machine, which does have some benefits but you can get them significantly less, but it doesn’t even sound as useful as that 🙄

I work for a professional, high-end hair care line, and there would be absolute hell to pay if I ever started a conversation with a customer by saying, “ if you have ever considered buying *the brand I work for*, but you’ve always thought it was too expensive blah blah blah, whatever your other excuses are”. I’d be fired on the spot. That is NOT how you talk to customers. It’s soooo condescending and downright rude. How can they believe that this technique works???
Healy seems wild! I can't believe they haven't been on our radar yet! Hearing the term "Frequency medicine" made me shudder - I can't even imagine what kind of medical claims they're making for their silly product!
Best part - the "science" was pioneered by a guy who was caught falsifying blood diagnostics and when they looked at his "medical tools" it was a bunch of junk. Can't make this shit up.

In order for her "experiment" to be valid she would also need to do a control. Stop using Monat products for 2 months and do a before and after and compare the results.
That wouldn't control for diet or other factors. The best thing would be to use the serum on just half her head.
Also - do seasonal differences affect hair growth? Like the dryness of winter or more vitamin D in the summer?

Oh good, someone else brought this up! I was screaming at the screen that Shoppers often has free gift sales running for their beauty products and that this lady in the video was straight up lying. And off the top of my head, so does The Bay, Sears (when it was still in Canada), and a bunch of makeup stores I've passed by at the malls offer free gifts with purchase frequently. So, um, yeah, the "stores don't offer free gifts" thing is totally bogus.
I just said the same. A few months ago I used my points to buy a 65 inch Roku tv. Lol they have the best point system.

About that bingo card (Top Fails #4): Almost every single one of those things are things I do as a freelance artist/illustrator to make money. I don't cold call or message folks (because ew) but the social media stuff is something I struggle to keep up with. I'd much rather be making things. Support independent artists and makers, folks. It's a much better use of your time and money.
9:37 as far as I know, there is no serum that helps you grow hair LENGTH. Hair serums typically promote maintaining hair health and possibly introducing NEW growth, right?
Another note: I appreciate when an anti MLM creator points out that a hun is not enjoying themselves/ wasting their own time. Your 👏🏽 time 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 valuable!
There's nothing you can apply to hair (which is dead) that would make it longer. You would have to be applying it to the scalp, which I assume is not how it is used.
As far as I know, you are absolutely right! I feel like the things that have helped my hair the most have been internal (like eating better and silica supplements). Also helps nails too. Also my hair got thinner after my first baby and is now thicker than it has been in years after my second. I think the only proven ingredient for DENSITY is rogaine.
If someone had been having a lot of hair breakage and a product makes hair stronger/less likely to break, then that could help it grow longer. That's the only thing i can think of.
The before and after pics drive me nuts! For instance the hair growth serum before pics always have their hair dirty and pulled back tight against their scalp, but the after pictures are with clean hair/post salon and held loosely. If you have a tight ponytail in your before pic, I want that same tight ponytail in the after!

Someone made the assumption about me that I had a horrid experience with MLM and that's why I was anti MLM. Actually, no. I've had experiences with MLM, a lot and actually do not feel they hurt me instead I watched that LuluLaRoe Netflix documentary and started down the anti mlm rabbit hole on RUclips ages ago ... and yeh, I am 100% anti mlm because of all those reasons and a lot more.

I think you're spot on when you say you're picking up on those "annoyed" and "unfriendly" tones many mlmers have in their video clips. Like you said, a lot of these people have been feeling pressured to promote these things for so long, and some of them are burned out and maybe in the process of thinking twice about the mlm. It's hard to fake a smile/sound genuinely positive and excited day after day when you're tired and overworked for little to no pay.
Love that you're taking time off to recover. I've just hit 37 weeks pregnant and can't wait to meet my baby daughter too 💕

I feel like she forgot or just is not aware that you can't use the same tone talking to other huns as when you are talking to potential suckers.
At 6:25 she's talking about shoppers drug mart which is like the canadian CVS- i can confirm they DO often give free samples & stuff. Last week I literally got 2 free movie tickets for spending $80 there (less than one of the shampoos😂)

I had a situation today and I couldn’t wait to share it when I had a video of yours pop up! I was at my daughters swimming lessons and another mom came up to me and started up a conversation. I thought she was nice and we seemed to have kids the same age. My little boy was running around and hers was getting crabby so we kind of went out separate ways but I felt refreshed to talk to another mom and both of us kinda ended up in an over sharing conversation about breastfeeding. After the lessons we were walking to my car and she has her daughter bring my daughter a business card for some jewelry mlm. I don’t even remember what it was called because I threw it in the trash next to my car. I was again disappointed that someone decided I was the perfect target for their mlm products. 😢

Not the major problem with MLMs, but being a customer is SUPER inconvenient. Back in college, I tried to support my friend’s makeup MLM, so I got some stuff, and not only was it about twice what I would’ve paid at a regular store, but it took three weeks to arrive. These reps get mad and wonder why people go to grocery stores and drug stores instead of buying from them, but if I can get something immediately and spend a fraction of what you’re charging for a three-week turnaround, the choice is obvious. 🤷♀️
They give you 'free gifts' the way people give you 'free lunches' to give you a sales pitch.
Unrelated to the video but things have been a little emotional for me lately and these videos of yours really ground me and make me feel calm and safe. It's like listening to a friend. Thank you for that.

I don't even spend 84$ on shampoo and conditioner for a years supply of it. I get my shampoo and conditioner set online for 35$ plus tax, the bottles are huge and the product is quite concentrated. I have long hair and those bottles last me like 10-12 months. All I did was ask my hairdresser what she was using on me and she told me what and where to get it.
I have a pixie cut and don't even bother with conditioner. My shampoo is 15 bucks a bar and lasts about 9 months. At most I would have to buy 2 in a year so 30 dollars total. 80 dollars is wild.
I have long hair and haven't used shampoo for years. Can't save more money or plastic than that!

@@brucheweinberger6863 I looove baths. So, I soak in the bathtub nearly everyday. When I am done relaxing, I start washing up:
- I dive my head and hair in the water, massage the scalp briefly; and then
- I soap up some parts of my body, rinse, and step out.
In the rare cases I get oily roots, I spray baby powder on them, and brush.
I also sometimes add a little vinegar to the bath-water for a deeper cleaning, and it softens hair and skin.
It is very freeing to not have all those beauty/cleaning products: less stains on the bathroom porcelains, less clutter, less plastic waste, less money waste, less worrying with all the logistics (choosing, buying, carrying, clicking the bottle-tap open/shut, picking it up when it constantly falls, cleaning around it, turning the bottle upside down, throwing away, go get more of it), less traveling necessaires, etc etc.

So the Healy's, besides sounding like a popular kids shoe, is basically a tens machine. Which can help with sore muscles, but yeah... you can pick one of those up from CVS for less than forty bucks.

I believe that Optavia questionnaire is given to customers to use as ammo against the person, so if they decide to say no, the rep can refer back to the answers the person gave, like "you said you want to feel healthier..." or "what about your diabetes??"
In response to the first Monat video how she’s talking about shoppers drug mart (she’s a fellow 🇨🇦). Shoppers offers PC points which I personally use to get hundreds of dollars of free groceries every month.

I’m 99% sure that the girl who mentioned the serving is a Christian and has a Christian audience. It is 100% spiritual manipulation. Christians are always encouraged to be “servants” and that language is what is used. I wouldn’t be surprised that this is what she is doing.
To answer the woman in question, why do MLMs leave a bad taste in the mouth? Personally, every time I think of any interaction I've had with any MLM rep, all I can think of is pushy, pushy, pushy. Not taking no for answer. People that I used to consider friends spam messaging me along with endless rebuttals. Being afraid to get any messages from a friend anymore because you know what it's going to be. The unraveling of what used to be solid relationships into fear, dread, and avoidance. Even if I knew 100% I'd be successful if I tried it (which of course is silly), I'd never be willing to destroy my personal relationships and sow distrust among those that love me.
I've had a few companies come by my house trying to sell their services (pest control, contractor, etc) and they seem to take pride in the fact they don't advertise and get all their sales from "word-of-mouth" or door-to-door sales. After seeing so many of your videos and thinking about it in hindsight, not advertising online is a big red flag, or at the very least shows the company has an inability to understand current market trends and will probably fail soon. It's interesting to also note so many of their 'sales reps' look like high schoolers and often work in pairs.
I also remember one particular pest rep who would not take no for an answer and I ended up just closing the door on him when he wouldn't stop. all this to say these sales schemes don't have to be just MLMs but they are just as scammy. ick!

I was feeling a little blue, and then I remembered it's Monday, a.k.a. Hannah Day :)
I visited my foot therapist yesterday and noticed her oil defuser was actually from DoTerra. She has nothing else from that brand anywhere and she doesn't mention it with a word. Some oil placed in the bathroom is from a cheaper brand from a store so I think someone gave her that defuser and she has no idea about the company it comes from. So it's still safe with no pitches or anything going on. I doubt she would have time for it anyway since she also has a cleaning business on the side with several people working for her. Our commune just reached out to offer her more work since one of the other cleaning businesses went out of business and they now need a new company to clean for the elderly people around the city so she's about to hire even more people. She's a busy bee.
In the past week, I may have cut an MLM hun off at the knees. A friend posted on FB that she was interested in consuming more greens and asked for suggestions. One commenter said to contact her about Young Living. I commented right back that my friend should avoid MLMs like YL and stick to legitimate options. I thought the YL might say something in reply, but to her credit, she didn't. If I hadn't watched so many of Hannah's videos I wouldn't have known YL was an MLM. Thanks, Hannah!
Ahh yes please please make a deep dive on Healy! I've heard so many huns make the "not like other MLMs" or "not really an MLM" claims about that company. I think they are able to convince a lot of unaware potentials in wellness communities to join because they try to make a strong case that it's not as toxic as other MLMs even though it shares the same business model, and I think a deep dive would help to save some people from getting sucked in. Especially when your deep dives are so thorough and poignant 💕🙏
You nailed it about recruiting. I was in a couple different MLM companies, and that is exactly how it felt. You know, deep down, that recruiting is where the money is at, but that's not why you got in. Awful.
I was wondering when Healy would come up. Just saw someone recently testing it out - I made sure to not ask anything about it as I was suspecting this person was just part of another MLM. I did a bit of deep dive and yes it has been proven to be completely bogus.

Shoppers drug mart has loyalty points that are actually pretty good. They can be used at grocery stores and gas stations. I have paid for my Christmas dinners using PC points for the past decade.
