I just realized I've also seen a strange clothing store in a hospital. I bet it was LLR! It was at a rehab facility where I went for speech therapy, so it did not have overnight patients. The tiny gift shop had a small section of clothing that didn't belong there, very strange. Many of the patients who go there are elderly and/or have mobility problems, so they would be a good selling target.

    Melaleuca is from Idaho.
The reason they don't want labeled as a MLM is due to Idaho's laws about pyramid schemes. Idaho recently published a brochure telling how the difference between "network marketing" (or MLM) and pyramid schemes is such a fine line.. and pointed out many Melaleuca behaviors.
Violating Idaho's pyramid promotional scheme law is a felony offense that is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years, and/or a fine of up to $50,000.
Idaho also has made "referral selling" illegal, so you can imagine why Melaleuca might be wanting to hide their business practices.

Same. I’m Episcopalian and I can tell the story-writer is from a different branch of Christianity, but I’m really surprised that the church would allow that to go on. Aside from the damage it can do to the people who are recruited it’s so toxic for that church’s community.

Omg Hannah - quick LuLaRoe story. A friend of mine gave me some bags of clothes that her rich sister was going to drop off at Goodwill, to see if any of it would be usable as inventory for me on Poshmark. I actually got a really nice North Face jacket out of it that sold within an hour of listing. But I also got A LOT of LuLaRoe Tall & Curvy Leggings, shirts & a cardigan. This was JUST before I became anti-MLM.
I was originally going to list all of the leggings individually at a decent price point for each. Then I happened to watch LuLaRich, so instead I listed them all as a bundle for dirt cheap. When I tell you they sold FAST. 😐 At least I got them for free, so what I made was all profit. But the amount of LuLaRoe I see at thrift stores is shocking. People are just giving it away now.

I was shocked when I walked in and there were two FULL racks of brand new LuLaRoe garments....Brand new, tags and all.... It was painfully obvious that someone had just thrown in the towel and donated what was left of their inventory. It was actually kind of sad because I wondered how much money this person must have lost before they just gave up ad donated their remaining inventory.

I'm just like the girl who immediately saw that MLMs we're pyramid schemes. A friend of mine was in Mary Kay and she got me to sign up. I did it after attending one of her parties and since it was my first time ever putting on makeup, and I liked it (probably because I never wore makeup before lol), I decided to sign up to get the kit and the 50% off all products. Of course they told me that this was fine, but then her upline kept showing up on campus to meet with me about why I wasn't having a party. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I was an 18 year old in college. I literally kept telling her, "because I don't want to that's not why I signed up, and I told you that." But I kept getting pressure to come to their meetings, have parties, see if friends were interested etc. And then I was like, oh my god this is a pyramid scheme. And I've been mad that other people don't see this so clearly. The anti MLM movement has been my validation for years and years of frustration 🤣.

Used Melaleca products for over 10 years. No one has ever pressured me to sell anything. Their products work well. Many docs and pharmacist have told me their vitamins do what they claim. My son was born 3 weeks early, hus NICU doc said "not only do I know you took prenatals, you took either Rainbow light complete prenatal, or Melaleca" it was Rainbow light. But now theirs give me bad heart burn. So mela it is. My asthma makes chemical cleaners a no. Found in stores brands "natural" cleaners suck, and are mostly water. Never had an issue with anything Mela makes. My high risk docs love that I use them. I am medically complex and rare...and mela products make my life better. 70% of their customers are just customers. I can't take chemical cheap crap grocery store vitamins..they make me throw up..and do not work. 15 docs and 7 pharmasist have told me "their science is sound. That is what I prefer you use."

There is a book that was written about how the owner of the company bought out Oil of Melaleauca for 100 million dollars in the 80’s. They are a legitimate store. 81% just shop. The folks who share are compensated fairly. I’m sad to hear that anyone would misrepresent this company…it has integrity & does it’s best as it looks out for others.

One thing that struck me about Story #2 was the emphasis the reps placed on earning money/becoming a millionaire over all else. Obviously I completely understand wanting to make a ton of money, especially if you are currently not making enough to live comfortably! I’m attempting a career change myself in the hopes of being able to make 6 figures and often daydream about all the things I could buy with that salary. But telling someone their architect career is worthless is so beyond the pale. Money is not THE deciding factor in a career, there’s also work-life balance to consider, as well as the job responsibilities. Not everyone wants to be hustling 24/7 and a lot of people need to be in a career that is rewarding and fulfilling in addition to being paid well. Just a gross mindset to have in my opinion, don’t put down others for not being in your MLM.

I did a brief stint with melaleuca. They are walking the finest line when it comes to the legality of their practices. As reps, we were constantly cautioned to guard our speech and not say certain things. Imagine pressuring all your reps and everyone under them, ad nauseam, not say the wrong thing so your company doesn’t get into legal trouble. Ridiculous. Also lots of reps claimed they were making big bucks and their dreams were coming true from this “easy job working 2-3 hours per week”. Except I don’t know if they counted all the meetings they want you to attend over zoom in those “2-3 hours”. Lol.
Oh yeah, the “team leader” was slightly unhinged and had a b*tchy personality and berated people in zoom meetings who stated how hard it was to actually close a sale. Yeah, I hate these types of companies with a passion.

She showed a sideways pyramid and said that if you shared and got others to join, your points would eventually be free. I wanted to try a couple products, but I couldn’t do that without joining their “shopping club.” Sigh.

Folks can shop retail and pay 30-50% more without shopping every month. It’s a store. I got free products accidentally my first week telling my friends that I found safe products for my son with special needs. I had zero desire to share anything because I’d just been tangled up with an mlm. Melaleuca was Oil of Melaleauca before…and that was an mlm. The current owner spent 100 million to buy it out. I suppose you could call Sam’s and Costco membership shopping. I have never had either company recruit me, ask me to recruit other people, ask me to spend monthly points, ask me to read self help books, ask me to manifest my dreams, ask me to market anything for them without compensation, ask me to attend Zoom meetings, ask me to share my “why,” or ask me to make a list of people who would buy “dirt”from me and send them “opportunity” emails and private messages. As someone who was addicted to anti-MLM content last year, I was surprised that I didn't come across your channel until now. And as a cat dad of 2, I'll admit that Zeke sealed the deal to me subscribing just now, lol
Also, I really appreciate sharing the story of the lady who was essentially bullied into buying products just to leave her alone. As I'm someone who tends to have issues being assertive myself, I found that it helped to play through my head what I'd say while watching these videos in case I come across such situations. I'm currently thinking of a polite and assertive "thank you so much, but this isn't for me," and if they keep pushing, I'm currently thinking through a more compassionate, "thank you so much again, and I totally understand how it feels to be in your current position of [excitement; being forced into desperation]. I've felt trapped in such a situation before, and I hope you won't have feel that way as well. I hope you understand my unwillingness and can respect that."

I've been a Melaluca "rep" for 3 years now. I have signed up zero people!😅 I love certain products and stay on because the lotion is the only one that clears my sons skin, and I can replace most of my usual grocery store items. But not many people can and I refuse to alienate my friends and family. So I'm the worst rep ever. Lol 😅I actually say when family ask where to get certain products that they should just order through me if needed but not to sign up. Unless you can easily replace items you would normally buy it's not worth it. If at ANY time you are putting things into your cart to make your minimum monthly point purchases that you do not need it's not for you. I never thought of it as an MLM before , but I knew it didn't feel right pushing the products on people . This video has really opened my eyes 👀 I will continue to be the worst rep for Melaluca and my conscience is clear.

One thing I've always told my kids is that your opportunities will be things you seek out. When you want to spend your time and your money, you will go looking for it. It will never come looking for you. Anything that chases you down, and offers you the "opportunity" to spend your time or your money is a trap.
That's why advertising has zero effect on me and mine. When we are ready to buy something, we chase it down. We NEVER take the click bait.
My kids have never bothered with any MLM or such "opportunities".

Hello Hannah! The second story about LR is mine, thanks for sharing!
I wanted to clarify that LR stands for LR Health & Beauty Systems. It's a German company. Except from aloe vera mania they are also crazy about their cars (they give away BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc. mainly German cars). I think they claim they have the best car gifting system in the world of MLM. I think they give cars even to the very low ranks. TBH I find this even more manipulative because they are connected to the company via car contract even before they have made any money and this makes them stay even longer. Unfortunately, all of their info about the car system is in German. I can translate them and send them to you if you're interested in digging deeper into this company. Let me know if you're interested in more information about this. Sending love! :)

It's not a Hannah video if there isn't a full speech from Zeke.
I am glad this included a story from Europe. As a European, there's a lot of MLMs that aren't talked about much popping up around here. My local job search groups are full of huns pitching their business opportunities to people who don't know any better. Luckily, most people don't fall for these, as they're very overpriced, and, considering average salaries here, not affordable, but it's still an infestation.
My jaw dropped when I saw a Lithuanian woman recently spam a Riga job search group (Latvia is Lithuania's neighbour) with, you guessed it, FUCKING MONAT. My Lithuanian is quite rusty, as I never formally studied it, but her text was the standard Monat nonsense pitch (and before anyone asks, yes, she posted her spam in Lithuanian, in a group where barely anyone speaks it. Make it make sense). They recently expanded to Spain and Lithuania, and I think it's very telling their huns have to invade random groups of neighbour countries to shill their shit. If that doesn't prove that nobody besides these huns are buying this product, I don't know what will.
