    I know i'm preaching to the choir here, but i HATE people who say "We all have the same 24 hours." It's absolutely ridiculous that people say that with a straight face. Someone said that to me when i was in university, and I said "i have to wait for the bus to pick me up from uni to drop me off at another bus stop before I could take another route to work. Am I supposed to work on my homework on a bus with no wifi? Am I supposed to work on group projects while I'm at my place of work? Oh right, I'm clearly not motivated enough, of course"

      I totally agree. Oprah would say it, so would Rachel Hollis. Not taking into account the nanny’s, the chefs, the house cleaners, the drivers, the trainers, the assistants they employ. It’s so offensive and just shows their privilege and how out of touch they are with the average person.

    • @VigilantChap
      @VigilantChap 2 года назад +19

      Right? It's an idiotic thing to say. Even IF we all somehow had access to the exact same amount of time to do things, it doesn't take into consideration anything else that might affect our ability to do things in that span of time, like physical and mental health/ability. It's ignorant and selfish.

While I have a lot of blessings, it makes me mad when people pull this garbage or the personal responsibility nonsense. It’s always privileged people who are so lacking in empathy, they can’t imagine that someone might have legit obstacles in their life or maybe they had a kid young and it’s been challenging to juggle everything. I’m sorry we can’t all be perfect like you, Mr/Mrs Holier Than Thou. Sorry to rant. Hannah - A thought I just had to add to the anti-MLM reasoning:
    The more an MLM grows, the less beneficial it is to the people who do it. It means less job security, less income, less opportunity.
    The more a traditional business grows, the more beneficial it is to the people who work there. It means *more* job security, *more* income and *more* opportunity.
    In a lot of ways, recruiting is just another thing sold as a business development strategy, when they're really stacking the deck against everyone they convince to join them.
    I hope that makes sense.

      Hi, mind elaborating on the less job security for the MLM, please? I can see the bottom rungs of the pyramid don't have much security, but the upper people still have other rungs to pad a fall if people quit (like the Monat purges that Hannah often covers, lol).

    • @sierrahargrave
      @sierrahargrave Месяц назад

      @@BewareTheLilyOfTheValleyi’ve been rewatching old videos and scrolling through the comments and saw this, and i have thoughts that could answer this. MLMs kind of have a life cycle. they’re founded, they grow slowly as their first recruits discover the business, they grow a little quicker as those people begin recruiting more people, and they skyrocket for a period of time. i think Hannah has said there’s evidence that years 4-7ish tend to be MLM’s best, lots of people are joining, making the top of the pyramid and the founders rich, but once market saturation is reached, and the lowest ranks can hardly recruit anyone, their profits start to hurt. the company continues to make money off of their reps, as they continue to buy their own personal stock of products that they use, or that they need to purchase to hit PV quotas or to hit or maintain ranks, but their main form of revenue (recruitment) slows way down. and when the opportunity worsens, people will begin to leave, either quitting MLMs altogether or jumping to a new one. from there the business slowly deflates, and as we’ve seen in the last year or so, many MLM companies have either shut down at that point of the life cycle, or they restructure away from the MLM business model, which leaves the reps without their job or without a major portion of their income. the opportunity dies away at that point, and everyone in the company suffers the loss. hope that helps answer your question! (about a year later lol)

    I've always found the MLM view of passive/residual income fascinating - I get royalties from several books twice a year, the amounts are in the low thousands and I do absolutely nothing to make this happen (the publisher does). I could stay in bed for a year doing no work at all and these payments would still turn up. That's passive income, if you're hustling all day every day on your phone the income (if any) isn't passive.

    Ok the dog toy drive really got me. I'm part of an animal rescue and we get MLM reps try to do a find raising party for us regularly. The answer is always NO. For anyone reading this, please find out the rescue or shelter where that animal is and just donate directly to them.

    Two things:
    First, you mentioned that someone will be watching this video (and getting ads) in a year. Hi, it's me. I'm watching a year after you posted.
    Second, I am an author, and the way you described the money is pretty darn accurate. (I'm honestly impressed. Author money is so mysterious to most people outside the industry.) Many of us (if we publish with a larger publishing house) actually make advances, so we get a chunk of money upfront (and upon completing different parts of the contract), and then once we "earn through" the advance, we begin making royalties, which is what you mentioned. Not all books earn through their advances (it's totally normal not to!), but it's really nice when they do. I have a few book that have earned through, so I'm still making *new* money on books that published in 2015 and 2016.

    The first hun actually reminded me of Jessica Hickson speaking about how she was always freaking out that the business would fall apart if she distanced herself just a little bit. That's definitely not the same as having PTO, quite the opposite, really.

      My why was my family and I failed therefore I must not care about my family enough, absolutely heartbreaking to hear that/feel that as a mom of young kids. And these women boast about how much they are called to help moms come home through Monat and then shame them when they aren’t making sales/recruits.

    Update on the second video, she has since removed all of her monat content off of her Instagram and never posts stories about it anymore, also haven’t been seeing her Escalade in any of her Instagram posts or stories either. She’s always been a mean girl, and funny enough I went to high school with her. Made my day seeing her in your video 😂😂😂

    I signed up for “free samples” with Monat last year…. It was an entire ordeal. They say just pay shipping. I was charged $12 CAD for shipping which I know only costs under $5 (I work for the post office). I got 2 samples.
    What actually happened: I was charged $48 and immediately tried to cancel and my friend the rep tried to cancel, I was told they would refund me and cancel the sample order. After over an hour on the phone for each of us, my order was never cancelled and weeks later I got my samples.
    I tried the face wash samples and immediately broke out in an awful, painful and hideous rash all over my face. The rash wouldn’t leave for over 2 weeks, despite only using the product once. I’ve never experience any sort of rash before or since then. Awful. Never again.

    I knew someone that joined monat, and she persuaded my mom to buy some shampoos. However my mom was charged over 3 months nearly $100 dollars each month and when she went to cancel it was very difficult and customer service was really resistant. My mom didn't sign up as a sales person she just purchased as a customer to help the person. Very shady company!

    I love the lady that did some cursory research, found all she needed to know and was like "Nah dog .... I'm out!" Also side not the BBB is not the trustworthy site I once thought it was when I learned that their paying customers often keep good grades even when they lose court battles and have to settle. CNN Money ( not my favorite publication for sure lol) did a small expose on the BBB it was interesting.

    Clip 5 - It's been possibly 5+ years since I got scammed with my Kagen water filter. The way they get you in is the fact that the water filters cost so much so the commissions are quite large. What they don't tell you, is that making that one sale is hard AF. I've seen/witnessed the Enagic in person presentation. The number of times you'd have to do it then overcome the hurdle that most people don't have $5k ... yeh. Struggle. Also, they don't realise that once someone has bought one.. they don't buy 'more'. That's it.
