Came home from the Rockies today. Back to the heat. Rough time with the pops.. had to tell the gal to get lost.. but this song. It gave me a smile when I needed it. Nothing but love to you all, and from one to another.. EVERGREEN ❤

This song makes me want to go running through the forest climb Mount Everest jump off the very top and fly into the sunset with a flock of eagles following me. In contrast, it also makes me want to be an old woman who has lived a long life and passes away quietly in her house in the woods with the window open and the birds singing.

Can someone poetically explain the meaning of it? Coz the music n the lyrics do sound very meaningful n .. sort of larger than life, whenever I listen to this gold of a track 🥹❤️❤️

@@ankitashilpa6022 It's difficult to even understand the lyrics, let alone poetically, but i can try break it down. It's up to interpretation, but I think the song is about adventure, and the singer or the person from whose perspective the singer is from is someone who is undertaking an adventure. This is supported by the forest imagery in the cover and the common feeling listeners get where it makes them think about nature.
I think he is battling two sides of his brain, one saying to go or take some big leap forward, and one saying to stay, limiting him and that this is the meaning by "locked in a stalemate", since he can't decide between the two.
One side is "with a man who bars no holds". The term "hold" is a grip, step, etc. in climbing which is associated with the theme of adventure and here represents an option or figurative path. Thus, a man who bars no holds is a man who does not close off any options.
The other side is the part of the singer who feels like they are between a "rock and a hard place" which is a common idiom used to mean having limited option. This is right after the last line so that there is juxtaposition, a strong contrast, so we can understand who/what is locked in a stalemate in their battle for control. This also links to the theme of adventure, like being stuck in a canyon or cave or between mountains.
The fact that the man who holds no bars is battling control with the feeling of being between a rock and a hard place seems to represent that the singer is struggling with choosing between his reckless side who wants to undertake adventure and his nervous side who is afraid to take that step forward. Note that this adventure could be literal or metaphorical.
In the second verse, the singer overcomes this conflict by ground themselves. "What am I waiting for?" seems to represent that by having too much internal conflict, the singer is stagnant, and they realize they need to take just a step forward. It also seems to show they are disregarding their concerns, suggesting the reckless side won. The tone of the music (happy) suggests this is probably a good thing.
I think the phrase "feet planted beneath" represents being grounded. This phrase tells us that the singer was in their head too much and snapped themselves out of it with the aforementioned realization.
"My compass, my transport" ties together the them of adventure and acts as a resolution. They now know the direction they are headed, and that they no longer feel stuck between a rock and a hard place as before.
It might not make a lot of sense because I'm bad at explaining things, but basically, depending on your interpretation, the theme of adventure in wilderness and the terms like "feet planted" "rock and a hard place" "my compass" could all be very literal. If you like, the song is about a traveller who is nervous about going on a journey that is likely unfamiliar to them and so they have apprehension, but ultimately overcome them.
However, if you wish to take this all very figuratively, it could be an allegory for overcoming mental illness, particularly something like anxiety. The singer in the first verse deals with internal conflict so badly that they are left stagnant, but they overcome it by grounding themselves in the things they are certain of (their feet are on the ground, and compass directions never change), thus their question what they are waiting for because they realize their prior concerns were not legitimate concerns and that there is nothing stopping them.

This song make me feel like, i dont want to kill myself or everybody around me, this choice isnt anymore.
