Are the summons in Tears of the Kingdom downgraded from Breath of the Wild? Let's discuss

I feel like I haven't personally heard many discussions about the summons in Tears of the Kingdom. I think since Breath of the Wild was so groundbreaking at the time it came out that it is unfair to compare it to Tears of the Kingdom, except when it comes to certain things like summons, were they downgraded?
