I upgraded my waterbox 220 sump with the platinum 34 trigger system 3 weeks ago. I Really like the fleece roller, and my tank has never looked better. Sent out ati water test today to see if nitrates and phosphates have dropped cause algae almost gone too.
Overall I agree with this Review. It's just the same as their existing sumps + their custom and somewhat basic filter roller. I have the Platinum 39 and so far no detritus issues. What I might suggest is to try lowering the adjustable float valves in that section? This will cause more filter to be used, but is more effective at cleaning. (Also...it looked like the shut off float valve was in the main sump section @4:35....As I understand it, Trigger Systems suggests this should actually go in the return pump area where water level will be first to raise within the sump. This is a bit tricky to get adjusted right, especially if you have backflow preventing valves on the return pipes)
I have the Platinum 34, and overall, I'm pretty pleased with it. There are a few drawbacks, however. First, if you can possibly fit the 39 into your space, get that one. With the roller taking up a significant amount of space, there's not a lot of surplus floor space left in the sump, particularly if you're using multiple heaters. Since the roller determines the actual water level for the rest of the sump compartments, vertical mounting of larger heaters becomes problematical, and the variations in level cause the skimmer and ATO water levels to fluctuate wildly, meaning they can't simply be set to always on. This can be overcome by setting the roller advance sensor low, but that blows through rollers quickly and they ain't cheap.
The lower your float switches are, the longer it takes for the fleece to spin. Yours looks high. Lower the floats and it will spin faster. The fresher fleece filters better. So the lower you put the floats the more it will filter
If I could do it over I would get another brand sump and use a clearsea fleece roller. That's just me though. Filter socks are good. Its just that they are a pain to change and clean every three days.
@@RB-iw9ix what size aquarium? I started having a sump once I got my 180 gallon. Not to mention I keeps everything out of the aquarium. Nice and tucked away.
@@PittsburghReefJunkie I have a 120 now but it has a seam failing so stepping up to a 150. Has the trigger System had more issues since you made the video?
Did you know Trigger has put out a V2 motor for the fleece roller? Have you tried it? I have seen your videos regarding your similar issues with your fleece roller. I have had the same problems. I was ready to scrap the fleece roller and start over, as it has not worked well since I got it 9 months ago. This looks like they have been working hard to fix the issues. It’s pricey, but cheaper than starting over. I’m going to give it a try, wondered if you already had?
I have not tried it. Honestly I was not aware that they had a new motor. My motor is fine. The issue I have is the fleece causes the heads to break at the end of the fleece because the glue on the tube.
Me too. Look at it. It has optical sensors, time option, screen display. Looks like a nice upgrade. I enjoy your content. Practical and helpful. Thank you
That is my return for the Bio reactor. I have a video of that this Sunday. I still need to plumb the reactor and a return manifold back to the main inlet.
Worthless and customer service is the worst. Might be made in America but parts come from China or some other third world country. Very cheap parts especially the float sensors
For 1100 bucks u could have got another tank.Used sumps for years now use only eheim canisters and tunze skimmer great water quality and SAFER in the long run .Just my opinion doing reefs for 3o years.Sump manufacturers ripping off consumers.
Wow!
Never expected to see a fellow yinzer when I searched this sump
I’m 20 min north of Pittsburgh .
Super cool . We gotta cross paths some time

It has been taking so much out that i have a hard time keeping nutrients. Are you having detritis issues like me?

Thank you for the tip. I will go give this a try.
Nice set up. Like the height of the skimmer.
Thanks 👍

I agree with everything you said here. It's a great sump, but it has a lot of drawbacks. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

Will that end the detritus issue? Have you had the same issue?
Would you do it again ? Or go back to socks or try another brand Roller Mat system?
