    Gabor Maté is a gem, speaking truth to all who will listen with their heart and not just their ears. I am so grateful to find a healer who knows the mind-body connection is real and shares these great truths from a pure desire to help others. This is as good as it gets. Thank you, Dr. Maté. ❣️✌️🥀

    True always and forever. In this COVID 19 world consider this: these are not "messages". They are universal truths. That is, it is not brain-based, highly intellectual, or academic. It is just how it is. If wounded healers represented every language and culture on this earth, and found "their way" to convey, in their corners of the world, their own stories of how the healing takes place. . . . Imagine!

    Dr. Mate you are Godsend!
    Recently I was in a zoom meeting with families who share in having a lived one who is incarcerated.
    At the end of the meeting the facilitator said ‘one has to be together before they can help others’ the meeting ended I was unable to respond. I will forward this to her.
    Also the 12 disciples where anything but together when they were chosen.

      @@Rick-zw7zv sounds like communism. Are you saying women are communist?

    • @Rick-zw7zv
      @Rick-zw7zv 4 года назад +2

      @@mannysmandatories5595 I would say that their biological role as mother predisposes them to be more concerned with the safety and survival of their [potential] child, communal life and group protection plays a plays a large role in that. Women may experience a sense of commitment and safety in groups where there's no respect for personal boundaries.
      The 'absent father' in many western families has created a situation where the mother has become like the Freudian 'devouring mother' unwittingly sabotaging the individuation process the child whose personality fails to develop beyond the primordial 'Ego-Ideal' or 'Pristine self'. This situation impacts the male child differently than the female child who has the option to autogenically raise her status and self esteem by emulating [what Freud calls] the 'Omnipotent Mother'. When a female child is hurt she can seek refuge in a mother role by playing with a doll, she becomes omnipotent by projecting her damaged self onto the doll. We see that this is not an option for men who have to earn their status from society and comfort from a woman so a non-competitive society does not help with that mission. A woman does not fear a matriarchal system like communism because she knows she can emulate the communist state (the archetypal 'devouring mother') and find comfort, strength and self esteem in her own role as an omnipotent and devouring mother as long as she finds some hold over someone.

    • @mannysmandatories5595
      @mannysmandatories5595 4 года назад +2

      @@Rick-zw7zv phenomenal insight. I've learnt a lot from your comment. Sorry but now I have to press you for your opinion on something. What is the role/antidote for men then, in today's society for radical mixing in the socio cultural sphere and work place? Where men aren't adept and managing the social nuances of fostering relationships nor are they any longer allowed to display forms of aggression which were previously common in all male environments? What stage do you sense our collective unconscious is currently at?
      Do you think the natural allure and charm that women have puts them in a position of power and men's propensities towards dominance displays are now suppressed?

    • @Rick-zw7zv
      @Rick-zw7zv 4 года назад +1

      @@mannysmandatories5595 It's wrong to classify 'dominance' as a male trait when you look at shaming tactics, victim projection, gaslighting, virtue signaling and 'reputation destruction' you see that they are female attributes of violence. It's also wrong to identify 'female aggression' exclusively with females when we're talking about people who failed to individuate themselves from the 'devouring mother', what we're really talking about is conscience personality vs. ego-ideal personality which relates directly with narcissism. Male narcissists seek validation for their primitive ego-ideal (fantasy self image) and female narcissists crave validation that allows them to see themselves as an omnipotent mother. The male craves recognition for his superiority in a competitive sense whereas a female narcissist would crave recognition for her moral superiority. It's obvious that the male narcissist has a tougher time rationalizing failure than the female narcissist who is able to find dignity and self esteem even from a victim position. As more narcissistic type of personalities start to dominate the socio-cultural sphere in the work place you will find that the female narcissist will gain the upper hand mainly because they are infallible in their own eyes which allows them to be bold and take more risks. Culture supports her and a mafia of feminists ('the mother of mothers') are out there waiting to fight her case, providing her with all the safety and independence she needs.

    The word wounded doesn't sit right with me. "Wounded" sounds too dramatic because you're not literally bleading to death. "Stressed" sounds like someone who's just having a bad day and needs to drive her son to football training. "Depressed" conjures up images of people in straight jackets..
    There's no way to describe accurately and in a signifying way what's going on which makes this a very dificult topic..
