J 1 minute ago (edited) My favourite scene was the heart to heart with Stacy and Mike before the Dance. "get you a lil dance, she loves that song by Luther". it was really wholesome and kinda reminded me of something. I just don't know what.
Young Slim wig walked to Shemar Moore wig could run! 😂 also, maybe I'm dirty minded, but the line " remember when it comes to the ladies, Suck Never Chew.." hits different as an adult! 😂😂
As a person born and raised in North Carolina I can fully say we all don’t sound like that 😅but depending on where you from it can go from hood talk to country singer voices real quick lol 😂
My theory is that at the beginning, we are a guest at the wedding or something of the sorts because the talking to the camera only occurs there, the rest of the movie when they leave from the wedding is just regular mandatory hood movie narration
So, the grabbing booty thing, I do love and appreciate your argument. I have to say, the boy grabbed the girls booty and then, got his ass kicked for it! So they showed the action and then showed the punishment for it.
28:00 Now I was born in the year 2000 but growing up it was a game called “Booty Tag” where essentially the boys and girls would go around slapping each others butts. Now I never played it because I knew if I got caught my parents would tear me up. However, as I got older into middle school the girls actually started doing it a lot more to the guys (which would annoy them). By the time i was a sophomore in high school people had pretty much stopped doing that.
Y’all remember “HIDE AND GO GET IT”? where you play hide and seek and the guys would seek the girls and ……yeah I think we get it but as kids we didn’t know any better and yes these were different times kids had too much time on they hands back in 92-2004
My Favorite The Wood Scene 🎬 was When They Were all Riding With Stacey, and Stacey Was Dropping Them off To The Dance 🕺 and Got pulled Over By The Police. The Movie Revolved Around Mike, Rollin, and Slim… But Stacey and Slim Were Stand Outs For Me.
It's so crazy how Malinda Williams (Young Alicia) is actually older than Sanaa Lathan (Older Alicia), Omar Epps (Older Mike), Taye Diggs (Older Roland), and Richard T. Jones (Older Slim)
My favorite scene has to be when Stacy said you want some to and slim said yeah. He said what? Slim said I think so. 😂😂😂 I laugh way too hard every time
They might as well as let Malinda play the role all the way through! Seeing that she was older than all the younger actors! I’m still shocked Malinda was older than she was!
Chile, I so loved this!!! since about 2017, I started looking for YT reviews of tv show that I watch cause many times my circle doesn't like the same things. Even as y'all talked in this review, I talked back. My hunny came in and voiced some opinions to him - so YT didn't get the comment. Oh yea, FIX THE WOOD!!!
Vanity was definitely finer. Man I wanted to be Bruce Leroy in The Last Dragon. Yeah back in the 90s we did the grabbing booty game. Girls were laughing and joking with us when doing it so we thought it was okay. Wouldn't do it in 2023 though. LOL
As a white, somewhat lower class white boy from Oregon, who lives during these times, I have to say... I honestly relate to a lot of this movie which goes to show that growing up can often be similar all over!!!
I always thought mike’s reaction to “you might say something that’ll get you 🔫” was a shocked reaction because I could just be talking and I get shot like what.
I come to ya channel to see y'all view of my fav movies ... And match something that I didn't.... Also helps me stay at peace at work and time fly's by thank y'all
Love you guys content and love this movie and you guys taught me something about the Teddy Pendergrass sample explains why Ahmad said "hey Jerome play some Bobby Womack
I don’t know how it is today because I’m no longer a young adult and I don’t even dance. It seems to me back then slow dancing at the high school dance was how you got to get close to your crush, or how you found your boyfriend/girlfriend. That can’t necessarily happen if everyone just line dances and twerk or whatever. Idk! Nowadays, like they say, youth is wasted on the young.
" Fix The Wood " I've never seen this movie before. Your breakdown of it is excellent as always ❤ Thank You Both. I look forward to your movie breakdowns- very enjoyable 💯🥂
I think he was suggesting that we should talk about where do we go from here. But she definitely did make him make a decision to be in a relationship because he was still in the ejaculation cloud and not thinking straight. But I think he truly wanted to be her man.

That’s our mentality here on the west coast. Back then in 86 Jordan wasn’t Jordan yet. So being for North Carolina is some country white boy type shit. It’s only when you get older or have family from the south that we stop viewing the south as country
Apollonia is finer than Vanity. This is the movie of my life. It’s a reminiscent of myself & my crew when we were in junior high & high school. I would to see this movie get coverted into a series just like the Best Man: Final Chapters: Fun Fact: DeAndre Bonds, Malinda Williams & Antwon Tanner were also in Sunset Park. Malinda Williams, Antwon Tanner & Bianca Lawson are eternal teenagers. They’ve been playing teenagers their whole careers. Antwon Tanner is the eternal high school basketball player. He played a basketball player in Sunset Park & Coach Carter.
They had his back for sure. I was raised that you run your fade1 on 1, homies there to make sure you ain't killed and brutalized, but you have to confront yours.
It would been more realistic, if he'd responded like, "l know what a damn gun is, but why I'm gona get shot?" B/c a country boy would know his way around a gun, regardless
But you also got to put in perspective, Mike probably grew up not really being exposed to a lot of thing's. Just the vibe I was getting from his and his mom interaction.
you right …I miss slow dancing with my grandma listing my to “HEARD OT THROUGH THE GRAPE VINE” and what’s that’s o’jays song that go ? “They smile in ya face” ohh what’cha say BACKSTABBERS! I think ? But yeah I miss slow dancing too ❤
14:41 Lol cannot lie, before going into my freshman year in high school we had this program called “bridge” where a lot of freshmen came to school to learn how to navigate the school and build relationships. Long story short 90% of the kids I was in my bridge class with ended up being in my official freshman homeroom and we always found that so funny. 21:34 as a person who does not drink (probably 2-3 times a year) I can attest that when I’m stressed enough I indeed want a shot or two 😅 27:53 Growing up in DC and Baltimore I remember we ended up having those colorful sex bracelets and kids would walk around popping different colors to indicate certain sexual favors smhhhh exactly why I homeschool my child now because we were off the chain. 32:37 It was absolutely warranted to get his ass beat cause he definitely grabbed that girl’s butt.
