      @Jeff r, I know what your saying. I work in education here in San Diego and have been in the Vocational side of education for 24 years now. I started teaching auto shop and I am still in a supporting role in the management of our last 5 remaining automotive programs here in San Diego School District. A good friend of mine Steve Ford is in a similar role in the LA area and he is promoting automotive technical careers. Sadly he told me today that there are 181 high schools in LA Unified School District (664,774 students) and only 6 or 7 of them are offering auto shop as an elective class for high school students. LA being the car capital of the United States this is a problem. Automotive/technical careers are not embraced in society anymore and the current system usually only promotes higher education and does very little to prepare our future workforce for high demand high paying skilled trades type careers. I'm hopeful in some of my future videos to discuss the valid concern with supporters such as you who understand the importance of keep the car culture alive and help educate parents and counselors that automotive technicians, plumbers, electricians, construction, welders and many other skill trades type careers are sustainable, and high paying high demand jobs. Sorry for the long explanation. I'm just a bit concern about this problem as well. Happy New Year! Greg

      @@GregQuirin I've raced & built everything from top fuel sand cars to trophy trucks & everything in between I'm 60 going on 22 again after buying my Ducati (I raced motorcycles also) bumped into these 18 to 22 year olds riding that now hang around my shop asking ALOT of questions about trophys, pictures, busted parts hanging around my shop between our rides we talk about life in general thinking they missed the boat. That was until I brought all 4 of them to king of the hammers & Bonneville in 2020 this year we chased the Baja 1000 all rhe way to the bottom & back stopping in Vegas for the drags where I had them baptized by nitro....you know the fuel car virgin's that is until there eyes burn & nose runs the throttle WHACK & all of them jumped 8 feet... landed & damn near ran off. That's all they could talk about for days. Here's my problem they have more passion & drive than any bunch of kids I've ever met in 30 years. Somehow I have to get something going regarding a build or? before there pilot light goes out or I can no longer do anything due to my clock is ticking away. On the other side of the token nobody I know ever made a living spending money on racing so what do I do with these guys? Tell them your going to starve to death trying or let them become another bored azz bunch of brain dead minions working for minimum wage living in moms basement?
      When I know how brilliant they are.

      The GoPro 10 is freaking Amazing - It has been a game changer for this race season. The telemetry is very accurate for measuring speed for the land speed records. The image stabilization make the videos smooth and the resolution and super high quality. I highly recommend the GoPro 10 or 9 . I have booth and I found that the 10 is best for inside the race car at 250+ MPH I would recommend GoPro all day long. Simply the best tool for documenting and amateur video . Every single video I have on RUclips is done on a GoPro 9 or 10.

      @ZIGgassedUp - I'm a mixed nuts car guy, I was an automotive technician for many years, then went into technical education teaching automotive classes to high school students in San Diego. For the last 14 years I have been working in the central office for Career Technical Education (Formerly Vocational Education) I manage 5 automotive training programs and several other skilled trades type programs such a machine tool and construction technology and many more. I support approximately 60 teachers. I like solving problems with my hands using a scan tool, DVOM, dial caliper and hand tools. The dynamics of hand-on skilled trade type careers is very difficult to attract the younger generation, which is our future workforce. I enjoy highlighting the skill set and unique talents in the automotive industry however the interest in these video's I make are primary older men between the ages of 50 and 80 years old according to the analytics RUclips provides me. It would be cool if there were more younger people interested in keeping the car culture alive.

    You can say motor. ie: motor vehicle 🚜. Motor racing 🐎 motorhead 🎸🎸🎸..Detroit-motor city! Yea I reckon motor is okay.

    • @GregQuirin
      @GregQuirin  3 года назад

      Right on, thanks for bringing this up. I have noticed the word "motor" is a common saying in North America, and I hear both terms "engine" and "motor" used in-and-around the shop. I would say that from what I hear, both words are used amongst automotive technicians and people to reference the internal combustion engine/motor under the hood. However, I think in other parts of the world, the word "motor" is the translation for engine. For example, in Spanish the engine is called " El Motor," in French the engine is called "Le Moteur," in German it is "Das Motor," and Italian "il motore." Seems that the word Motor is more common in Latin based languages, however I'm no expert in linguistics. Maybe I should reach out to KPBS and ask "A Way With Words" and see what they say? Thanks Greg

      @@daos3300 I'm a passionate car guy and educator working with the high school automotive and engineering programs for a large school district. I really enjoy sharing knowledge to every and anyone. This past year I started helping Pete and Kevin out at the races and helping the team document their success on the race track with a GoPro. After posting a few race videos on RUclips simply for the ease of sharing the video with friends and family, we noticed there was a huge interest within the Land Speed Racing Community and gear heads all over the world. After posting a few more videos, the views started to increase and I received tons of comments and questions to do more videos with Pete and Kevin. Why would a couple of gear heads Wana build a flat motor to turn more rooms ,they are junk the blocks are junk ,the cranks are junk the rods are made of vanadium but they are not speed parts ,just build a Motor like konegseg 3 cylinders that makes 650 HP no cams no cam chains just a valve actuator , crank n piston rod or look at the new rotory motor 335 HP and it weighs 150 lbs, screw the flat motor it's a waste of time and energy
