  • Bearing the pressure of being favourites to win in their home country, Carol Heiss and David Jenkins live up to expectations and deliver the goods to become Olympic Champions. Notice David's utterly amazing skating which is light years ahead of his contemporaries. Oh what he would have been if he had competed today!!

I was at the 1960's Olympics as a young boy. One affordable ticket got you access everywhere, there was no security police and you could bring your own skis and ski the Olympic slopes.

I would’ve been an Olympic figure skater had I just been born 4 decades earlier! lol

Want I want to know is how the Howard Craker films fell into others hands? I have a friend whose films and tapes were thrown away. She was a National competitor, stunning and it would be nice to have her retrieve some wonderful memories.

David Jenkins did a triple axel in 1957 that is on RUclips that was better than any that followed until Boitano.

Their jumps look different - looser, somehow more "chaotic" in the air, but with a lot of height.

I had no idea perfect 6.0's were given at the Olympics prior to the 1980's! And technically it seems gymnastics legend Nadia Comaneci was not the first Olympic athlete to achieve a perfect score at the Games after all. :)

It´s annoying to see that television directors were morons in ´60s already. These senseless cuts to audience or a desinterested cameraman reading a newspaper right before a jump is gross.
