I live in Germany and i support the farmers and i can tell you the protests were all over Germany. The AFD is not far right they are just right. We need to produce more food within Europe instead of importing produce from thousands of kms away.

This is true. Since 2020, I have tried to buy only British produce, and I have noticed less food inflation than those who buy imported food. If the masterplan is to have all food grown in Ukraine or somewhere, this is bonkers.

thx 😊. ca 80-90% of the Germans were involved. i live in a small town. but today the whole town was on the streets. For the first time in the history of my town. Most of us support our farmers. It was only the beginning of our resistance :).

@@JM-gj3fi Thousands of Dutch farmers had also protested in 2022-2023 (they blocked roads for months) against their government (at the time the PM was Mark Rutte who has since resigned). The Dutch governement's goal was to reduce 'agricultural polution' by forcing farmers to reduce agricultural and livestock production. If the Dutch government had succeeded the consequences for farmers would have been desastrous. Needless to say that the Dutch governments approach was extreemly authoritarian and veiled in what seemed to be the WEF agenda. The Dutch farmers are practically the precursor to the farmer's mouvements happening in Europe.
IM not so HO, the root of the attacks on farming is quite simple; today's politiciens want to CONTROL their populations and industry wants to INDUSTRIALIZE and CONTROL food production (let's put our health in the hands of industry and see what happens). Farmers are by nature independant, strong minded and hard workers. And today, our current politiciens are compromised, corrupt and just horrible people.

Here in Canada when truckers did this they froze their bank accounts and envoked a war measures act.
I don't think that would be possible in Germany. We have around 260,000 farmers. The majority of these farmers have taken part in these protests, and the protests are even supported by the farmers' association. This association serves as protection for all farmers and also campaigns politically for farmers' rights in all federal states. The power of farmers should not be underestimated. In my city of 60,000 inhabitants alone, there were over 1000 tractors protesting on Monday. To prevent blockades, the city voluntarily closed the entire city center to normal traffic for a day and made it available to the farmers. There were only tractors to be seen on the streets all day. If they did what they do in Canada, several industries would come to a complete standstill. It's not just a few farmers who are protesting, but almost everyone. Moreover, such a measure would most likely be unconstitutional.
And yet after all that you Canadians keep on voting for the liberal party there...

As I was driving on the A7 lately I thought there was a beautiful sunset until I remembered that it's to late and cloudy for that. As I got closer I saw that the farmers had made a huge fire on a field next to the Autobahn and lined up tens of tractors. The same scene was repeated every few kilometers. There also were demonstrations in every tiny village. I have never seen anything like this. My whole live I couldn't believe how my countrymen could always say yes and amen to everything, but it seems we're getting close to the turning point now.

German farmers can't get fair prices for their produce from the handful of wholesalers, which have huge negotiating power. So the German government has subsidised diesel, which has allowed the farmers to still operate profitably. In return German taxpayers enjoy very low food prices. If the subsidies are removed, quite a few famers will go bust and agriculture will condense into a much smaller number of large land owners, who will have more negotiating power vis-a-vis the wholesalers and almost inevitably food prices will rise and hurt people on low incomes most...
Sir, the food prices are a disgrace already. Coming from a german here. You won't find any restaurant that sells actual food where you can have a coke with a main dish under 25€ nowadays and this is just the beginning. I don't know if you know what a kebap is but that's one of our most liked foods. I'm 23 years old now, when I was 13 a kebap was exactly 4€. I ate a kebap today for 10€. The same place where it was less than half 10 years ago. the food prices have become a disgrace. The biggest joke of all is how expensive actually healthy foods have become. The trash from the big concerns like nestle is almost as cheap as before but quality is unaffordable. They want to feed us processed imported fake foods that makes us sick and unhealthy while pretending that the great plant based foods and sugary cereals are healthy for you. Germany 2024 is the biggest piece of propaganda shit you will ever see since 1945.

The real-estate component of supermarket prices is much less because of their higher turnover and because the supermarket chains usually buy their sites and use them as investment assets.
