    The Radtel RT490 comes under many names and they are great little radios. They come also in digital and analog type of radios as in analog only version. In my opinion the the Jianpai 8800 is the cleanest of them all and they have a nice form factor and many features most other radios do not have like usb C charging and bluetooth programming with Odmaster app, dual PTT, chanel nob, nice display and great menu packed with many things. Overall worth the price in my opinion ! Great video !!!

      Yes, I have the Jianpai 8800 as well and fully agree with you. It is a fabulous radio, though I think the mic gain could be stronger. Terry KI5UHR

    UV-5R can be unlocked to receive and transmit on 220. Just do a quick search on videos showing this hack. I am not sure what output power the UV-5R has at 220, but it definitely works.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  8 месяцев назад +3

      Output power is about 1/2 a watt. It isn't worth mentioning

    TPMS sensors are available in two frequencies: 315MHz (US) and 433MHz (EU) so a car purchased in the EU could be affected by this radio- but bringing cars in like that is so rare that the interference will never be noticed.

    I think the Baofeng ANI feature may be set to ON. It transmits a special set of DTMF tones, to identify each radio, to a dispatcher. It can be set to TX before or after talking.

    These radios can be hacked to transmit about anywhere from 100 to 600 MHz but with the typical limitations, no filtering below 400 MHz, output power varies over the spectrum between nothing and 10 W, but surprisingly independent of the power setting (!), and in AM mode it just says AM on the display but it isnt AM in Tx. Not sure whether there is a difference between the 8 brands under which it is sold. Stay safe and legal

    Just a quick tip. When I first bought this I thought that the sound was very muffled.
    The sound can be much improved by turning off the GPS.

    Why does everyone push HT's in everything? Where's the mobiles and bases?!? Solar/Battery powered mobiles?!? Suitcase Radios capable of being used outside of a vehicle or in it?!? Disconnect it from the 12V in the car and slap a battery on it, toss it in a backpack with a capable antenna and go. Thanks it in the house and plug it into the wall..

      @@CyborgAlienBariaurYes because that is what people watch. When I do videos about HTs, they always get alot more views than mobile or base station radios. But I will have a new video about mobile radios out next week

    • @K5YVY
      @K5YVY 8 месяцев назад

      Well and there seems to be a different HT released by someone somewhere about once a week or so, mobile and base radios just don’t get the love in the market like companies do rushing to put out handheld radios with different features than the other guys. Also I think some companies might actually use an HT product as a feeler for the market, gets liked by people enough I’ve seen some produced higher output mobile styles of the same HT hardware but mobile form and higher output. 🤷🏼‍♂️ just my observation.

    ISM is just what the 2.4 Ghz and 5.8 Ghz bands are technically classed under prior to the WiFi Alliance building out the Spec. It stands for "Industry Science Meterology" thats measurement devices. ISM devices are Secondary Users of the spectrum with Amateur Radio as Primary Users.

    Why do the FCC and FTC allow the importation & sale of non-spec FCC certified equipment, or even no FCC certification? Especially radio transmitters and other electronics imported and sold in the USA through Amazon, Walmart , an eBay? Those agencies would rake in plenty of fines and penalties from the manufacturers and retailers to enforce compliance. The consumer could then actually expect to actually get a decent products that really meet FCC specs.

      Probably for the same reason that they don't enforce Business Band frequency allocation use. It's supposed to be managed through an online database but everyone just ad hoc wings it like CB. And then some of the people that do use the database make completely arbitrary area use claims unnecessarily.

    Bought the GPS version of this, could never get GPS to lock on. Bluetooth is a nice programming feature from android smartphone. Horrible Vox control making unusable with a Baofengs APRS cable. I don't plan to keep it.
