SailGP is high speed, high tech and high impact. This global sports championship combines cutting-edge tech, iconic global venues, elite athletes and record-breaking speeds to create the most exciting racing on water. Rival teams from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Canada, France, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Spain battle it out at iconic venues around the world in short, intense races for a total prize pot of $7 million. Teams compete in identical hydrofoiling F50 catamarans that fly above the water at electrifying speeds approaching 100 km/h. Fan-centric and close-to-shore, each SailGP Championship culminates in a $2 million, three-boat, winner-takes-all Grand Final.

Okay, I get that we have accidents. I get that crap happens.
But for CRYING OUT LOUD MAN! We have all these drones in the air, all these radios, we can't have an off boat spotter calling out potential collisions?
We can't put a camera on top of the mast to cover blind spots?
These accidents are ridiculous! Safety should be a higher priority for this event. There should be no collisions caused by blind spots.

Easy to say that.. but the speed of the boats is unbelievable
@@JimiCan dude they had plenty of time to avert. The problem is the rules are too often abused by the teams so that they can force penalties.
I know people consider that "strategy", but I consider it unnecessary risk. Especially with the sizes of the boats being raced.

I get that you're trying to keep the energy up and make it exciting, but redubbing the live commentary and making it seem like the announcers are predicting all these issues and collisions before they occur feels strange. It seems revisionist and presents it like the athletes are somehow negligent when others can see the future so clearly. I'd prefer after-the-fact commentary be past-tense so everyone knows it.
I agree, but while a "boring" narration of what's happening could be welcome by anyone who's seen more than one race, they got to try find more people through shorts with this fake commentary. That being said, I'd be more than happy to see broadcast of practice sessions!
@@Kpiotr I think the real live commentary is plenty exciting, but it lacks the clarity that comes with hindsight.
@@Kpiotr @jeadly Agreed on both points. The retrospective commentary does feel weird and I wish we did get to see practice day racing, either live or recorded.

Wow they deleted my comment about Safety...From a certified Safety Professional and a sailor...that is a bad look Sail GP.
I'm confused. This race happened many days ago. I think I should unsubscribe. SailGP provides a bunch crap content. Just show the races. Be little. Be good. Get over you selves. Show your hands.
This is a documentary series called "Racing on the Edge" which shows a behind-the scenes look at various teams and people during the season to give insight on their focus and challenges. You can find a playlist of all Racing on the Edge videos on SailGP's page, I think it's a great resource to get to know the teams and sailors. If you're only interested in live racing, you'll have to wait for Saturday!
