    Did this in mid-February, only person around for miles and miles, and wondered if anyone had videoed it before. What a treat to relive this unique and at times rather freaky experience. Thanks for posting!

      Good trip aye, thanks for commenting. It’s actually a great ridge to ride a mtb on too. I might make a video for that next.

    Sick video mate. How long would it take to climb up in winter? And would microspikes be enough gear?

    • @TomWoodwardVideos
      @TomWoodwardVideos  8 месяцев назад

      Shouldn’t need microspikes, I’ve never used them. Just kick decent foot holds in.
      I would say 3 hours up, 2 down is ample in winter.

      yeah, just take a light if you're doing it after dark. And be sure to remember where the track enters the forest.

    Hi Tom, great video. Do you reckon this is doable a the end of September? Or too much snow?

    • @TomWoodwardVideos
      @TomWoodwardVideos  3 года назад

      You can do it all year, but normally in September there’s quite a bit of snow. That just makes it more fun though.

    Amazing! How long did it take to get to the summit during winter?

    • @TomWoodwardVideos
      @TomWoodwardVideos  2 года назад +1

      It adds another hour give or take.
      Depends on how thick the snow is.

      @@TomWoodwardVideos Thanks. Tried to attempt this yesterday. Had to turn back 1.5km from the summit. 2-3 feet of deep snow. Trail blazing was tough. Could have pushed through if i had enough time. But the views along the ridge was amazing. I’m gonna attempt this again in good conditions. Thanks for your video!

    Maybe they call it the burn because a burn in Scotland is a stream.

    • @TomWoodwardVideos
      @TomWoodwardVideos  3 года назад

      I didn’t know that. There’s lots of burns around here. So that’s what it means.

    Thought that didn’t sound like a Scottish accent then realised there must be a Ben Lomond in New Zealand.

      Yeah it was named after the mountain in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤙

    Well we liked them Douglas fir trees on the hills since growing up there since 1968 now every knob hates them

    • @TomWoodwardVideos
      @TomWoodwardVideos  Год назад +1

      Yeah that's because they weren't a problem back in the 60s. Now they're all grown big and are spreading and destroying the environment.
