Rob: Thank you so much for filming and posting this video of the new Milwaukee REDSTICK levels. Your testing and candid review is most appreciated for the Home Building Contractors located in Buriram province Thailand. I will broadcast this video in the Milwaukee Tools Display of Ruangsagthai Hardware.
Milwaukee sent over some clarification after watching the video that I wanted to share. I mentioned in the video that we tested frame strength on both the strong and weak axis, and the all-metal backbone seemed to help more on one axis than the other. Apparently this is by design. This core reinforcement to the frame protects against premature bent frame failure and provides advanced durability and protection especially in the weak axis-which is the most common bent frame failure on the jobsite.

" Is this possibly, CORRECTION, I'm SURE this is a direct quote from marketing.... That in itself pretty much negates any profound review of a possibly worthy tool. Stabila is a DAMN good tool Company, however they're not the only game in town. Just as DeWalt, Ridgid, Milwaukee, Hitachi, Makita, et. al. are only playing gimmicks with contractors seeking their purchases. Unfortunately, we're all destined to to be forced to jump on to SOME "Bandwagon" out of MARKETED "loyalty" to a "brand" from a "marketing" strategy. Boys, c'mon, let's DEMAND better of our tool manufacturers!!
@@mikekellam365 This is going to be true of anything these days. None of these brands are just the name sake of the company unfortunately. Milwaukee is owned by Techtronic Industries, which also owns Ryobi, as well as a whole host of other companies that make other products such as vacuum cleaners. Well intentioned as many of the designers may be at any of the good brands, the accounting and marketing departments, and the suits within them are always going to have some say in the process of the tool design. For either aesthetic purposes of selling the product, or for pinching those pennies to maximize corporate profits. One thing that is nice about Milwaukee is that they seem to do listen to the feedback provided by customers and their tools have steadily improved and become more versatile as the years have gone by since they first became popular. The balance of making the perfect tool, and being able to sell it at a competitive price for all consumers is something that is always going to result in corners being cut somewhere. But that's the beauty of the game.
Brilliant review and video rob, love how in depth your reviews are...keep em coming, I have stabila 96-2 levels and I've had my 6 foot for about 8 years now and it's still bang on...I have the 16,24,30,36,78 and 96inch...

I was comparing Johnson Ultra, Sola Big Red and Stabila 196, now may consider Milwaukee as well. The testing done in the video series are always well done!
I have stabila ....plate level...6ft 4ft 3ft and 2 ft.....i handle them carefully...cuz they are strong but they are so expensive...the plate level was almost 400....id love to see if Milwaukee comes out with an extendable plate level

So, I tend to have terrible luck with levels. I have custom levels from Smith, that went out of level. They fixed them and sent them back, but it took a year. I bought a jamb kit from Stabila while waiting on my Smith's and within 3 months both levels were out of level. I eventually sent them back in and Stabila sent them back, unfixed and said, nope, one is bent (not our problem) and the other is fine. You can visibly see that the 32" level is not "fine". SO, I'm pissed at Stabila and refuse to buy their levels now. Does anyone have any recommendations? Are the Milwaukee's worth a shot? I need at least a 6' and 4' level for cabinetry.
I have yet to see a stabila level with a bubble the same length as the lines. I have two old Johnson levels with bubbles that match. But recently shopping new ones the same issue with every level I see.
I own a bunch of Milwaukee 18v tools and I generally like the stuff they do. I recently bought a 1200mm Stabila over a 1200mm Redstick. Why? My Stabila is made in Germany. The Redstick is made in China.
wow! you really put these through heck. i like mohogany levels, specifically my old trusty stanley 48, but it finally lost fluid on one of the horizontal bulbs. i got a laminated johnson but it doesn't have the feel of mohogany--it's much heavier. maybe i will eventually come around to the redstick--got to feel it in hand....thanks!
this was a very informative review and i used it to sway my decision to purchase. i ordered the door jamb kit and the 360 ° torpedo. from my local tool dealer. box stores didn't have either and the tool shop was cheaper anyway. placed the order 1 and a half weeks ago as of today. no levels yet. they told me milwaukee has been real bad lately with delivery of parts which milwaukee blamed on a computer issue. the tool shop says the service still isnt much better since and here i sit. if youre in a hurry i wouldnt chance it if stabilla is available in store!! lets see how long it takes. hopefully not as long as it took to get my kapex when festool had the sale on them
still no torpedo 360 level and im likely to take these levels back. the red plastic they use is coming off of the level and marking up any wall i put it on. particularly bad with flat paint inside.

Nothing against China, it's just the people having stuff made over there paying pennies on the dollar and overpricing them here in the States... try a Stabila and you will see the huge difference
I bought a brand new stabila about 10 years ago and paid a pretty penny. The vile bubble kept on getting bigger and bigger meaning that the vile was leaking, it got to a point where I trashed it because they dont sell the viles. I went with red stick and will never look back again.

Rob what does stabila use to strengthen their vial cutout do they have a metal backbone like the redstick

You must mean Sola and Stabila. Crick with their archaic curved glass vials are way out of date.
Gimme that Stabila.
great testing!
Stablia to me seems a little overpriced kinda like festool
Is it Chinese
To bad it's not graded to run my drains :/ they lost the plumbers on this one
bad ass albie these were Gen 1, they now have Gen 2 with digital slope levels, and I “think” a graded level too
I think the redsticks are made by empire
Again tho constant pressure is way different than and patents are dumb
Yeah how do you know all that ??? I now consider myself an 'expert on levels' just by watching your video - nice one!
TV Magic research, interviews, field use and testing
It’s a shame Milwaukee is a Chinese company. Make it America and I will consider it.
Stabila R beam is the best in the world
Would be handy if the put a milled face on the surface at least as to the paint.
how much do you get paid for this advertisement? talking 14 minutes, insane bruv
why you sit in the truck? "rob told me to" ^_^
nice
Need a small eye beam level lol
Milwaukee and level. They just dont go together. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
MILWAUKEE RED STICK LEVEL WAS STANDING UNDER THE LIGHT WAITIN FOR STABILA LEVEL TO COME PUSSYFOOTIN TO FIND OUT WHERE THE NEXT LEVEL FIGHT WOULD BE HELD MILWAUKEE RED STICK LEVEL SAID YOU SAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE OF YOUR BUDDIES THERE'S GOING TO BE TROUBLE GOT IT
I SEE MILWAUKEE RED STICK LEVEL WANTS A PIECE OF STABILA LEVEL LET'S PUT IT THIS WAY STABILA LEVEL THOUGHT HIS SHARP 👅 WOULD HELP HIM WALK PAST MILWAUKEE RED STICK LEVEL BUT STABILA LEVEL PICKED THE WRONG LEVEL TO PICK A FIGHT AS YOU SEE STABILA LEVEL KEPT HIS MOUTH SHUT
Sand's is my first choice
good video!
You Americans get all the good tools 😐

depends on income per head... if the people in a country are too poor they won't pay too much for something... they buy 7 times cheap crab instead buy one time something good... and the small bunch of people who really want have something good, need to ship stuff from other countries to get this...
good review!
Cringe watching those stress tests
Sola...
Very nice review. #TIACREW
Stabila made in Germany vs this which is made in China. Enough said.
Killin it
very nice :)
If you don't use s Stabila, you cannot honestly call yourself a professional
Stabila is an awesome level system, but your Pro statement is so off
A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz Nah I'm picky, can't be picky with tools that are just good enough
Way over priced
