Rob: Thank you so much for filming and posting this video of the new Milwaukee REDSTICK levels. Your testing and candid review is most appreciated for the Home Building Contractors located in Buriram province Thailand. I will broadcast this video in the Milwaukee Tools Display of Ruangsagthai Hardware.

Milwaukee sent over some clarification after watching the video that I wanted to share. I mentioned in the video that we tested frame strength on both the strong and weak axis, and the all-metal backbone seemed to help more on one axis than the other. Apparently this is by design. This core reinforcement to the frame protects against premature bent frame failure and provides advanced durability and protection especially in the weak axis-which is the most common bent frame failure on the jobsite.

Quote: "Apparently this is by design. This core reinforcement to the frame protects against premature bent frame failure and provides advanced durability and protection especially in the weak axis-which is the most common bent frame failure on the jobsite.
      "
Is this possibly, CORRECTION, I'm SURE this is a direct quote from marketing.... That in itself pretty much negates any profound review of a possibly worthy tool. Stabila is a DAMN good tool Company, however they're not the only game in town. Just as DeWalt, Ridgid, Milwaukee, Hitachi, Makita, et. al. are only playing gimmicks with contractors seeking their purchases. Unfortunately, we're all destined to to be forced to jump on to SOME "Bandwagon" out of MARKETED "loyalty" to a "brand" from a "marketing" strategy. Boys, c'mon, let's DEMAND better of our tool manufacturers!!

    • @robsp32
      @robsp32 6 лет назад +1

@@mikekellam365 This is going to be true of anything these days. None of these brands are just the name sake of the company unfortunately. Milwaukee is owned by Techtronic Industries, which also owns Ryobi, as well as a whole host of other companies that make other products such as vacuum cleaners. Well intentioned as many of the designers may be at any of the good brands, the accounting and marketing departments, and the suits within them are always going to have some say in the process of the tool design. For either aesthetic purposes of selling the product, or for pinching those pennies to maximize corporate profits. One thing that is nice about Milwaukee is that they seem to do listen to the feedback provided by customers and their tools have steadily improved and become more versatile as the years have gone by since they first became popular. The balance of making the perfect tool, and being able to sell it at a competitive price for all consumers is something that is always going to result in corners being cut somewhere. But that's the beauty of the game.

    Hey Rob
    I considered
    Stabila 196
    Sola big red
    Johnson ultra
    After deciding on Sola
    Made the right choice
Has luminous strip for low lighting situations, 2 to e green vial with self centering bubble.
Made in Austria are durable and like Stabila very high quality.
    Try them versus Stabila
Even employee at tool center agreed.
We compared Sola torpedo verses Stabila. He said the Sola has better readability, easier to see.
The 60 pct larger vial has won me over
    So many to consider.
    Empire blue
    Milwaukee red stick
    Sola big red
    Stabila 196
    Johnson ultra
I believe comes down to personal taste , budget, availability

  • @ajensen2

So, I tend to have terrible luck with levels. I have custom levels from Smith, that went out of level. They fixed them and sent them back, but it took a year. I bought a jamb kit from Stabila while waiting on my Smith's and within 3 months both levels were out of level. I eventually sent them back in and Stabila sent them back, unfixed and said, nope, one is bent (not our problem) and the other is fine. You can visibly see that the 32" level is not "fine". SO, I'm pissed at Stabila and refuse to buy their levels now. Does anyone have any recommendations? Are the Milwaukee's worth a shot? I need at least a 6' and 4' level for cabinetry.

The Redstick is made in China.

this was a very informative review and i used it to sway my decision to purchase.
i ordered the door jamb kit and the 360 ° torpedo. from my local tool dealer. box stores didn't have either and the tool shop was cheaper anyway.
placed the order 1 and a half weeks ago as of today. no levels yet.
they told me milwaukee has been real bad lately with delivery of parts which milwaukee blamed on a computer issue. the tool shop says the service still isnt much better since and here i sit.
if youre in a hurry i wouldnt chance it if stabilla is available in store!!
lets see how long it takes. hopefully not as long as it took to get my kapex when festool had the sale on them

    • @williamsmith9026

got the door jamb set yesterday after week 3

still no torpedo 360 level and im likely to take these levels back.
the red plastic they use is coming off of the level and marking up any wall i put it on. particularly bad with flat paint inside.

    • @williamsmith9026
      @williamsmith9026 7 лет назад

      i placed my order 2/4/2017
i got the door jamb package a month later
i went to my tool store where i ordered the 3 levels monday 3/27/2017 and still no 360 torpedo level. the owner called milwaukee and at first they said there is no such order. then they figured out there was. they told my tool dealer i would have the level by Thursday 3/30/2017.
here it is 4/1/2017 2 months away from the initial order and still no level.
i was going to purchase the cordless blower, grinder and caulk gun but, now my milwaukee screw guns and batteries are sold and i bought festool.
if you are looking for a company with any kind of service at all milwaukee aint it. they are the worst and my dealer/repair shop has the same problem with them getting parts to him!
and 1 more thing. the milwaukee rep/ sales table was in home depot 2 weeks ago in harrisburg pa. i was in ther 4 seperate times and he or she was not at the tables that were set up any of those times i was there but, the truck was in the parking lot.
they are the worst top to bottom!!!!

Not even close. Whoever says that they can be compared to Stabila has never worked with one. It's just a new level with lots and lots of propaganda. Plus it's made in China. Nothing against China, it's just the people having stuff made over there paying pennies on the dollar and overpricing them here in the States... try a Stabila and you will see the huge difference

Stabila just aren't as durable. Don't get me wrong, very quality built product but they ones I have owned have been babied because of how easily I've wrecked vials in the past. The price premium should reflect some stronger components... You'd think anyways.

These are really nice and the bubble liquid is really easy to see, but Milwaukee and Empire are the same manufacture. And i think Stabila's durability is going to be unmatched with the way they build the viles right into the level during manufacture, instead of pressing them in after, like these.

Update on my experience with the red stick levels i bought. Torpedo and the jamb kit.
The torpedo level middle vial has no fluid in it right now and is not cracked. The vial that is not on the angle dial appears to be losing fluid because the bubble is now the whole way across the vial.
    The 32" still seems fine.
78" has taken 1 fall and appears to have a slight bend in each direction when i put it on what i have that is the straightest flatest metal i have.
Keep in mind that i am a painter who does some carpentry and an occasional door install. I dont beat on these items.
I sold my milwaukee cordless tools based on their horrible customer service and these levels that took 2 months to get are garbage now because the set is shot.
Buy stabilla or go cheaper and get empire. These things were a waste of money!!
Edit: These were a huge investment for me that I did a good amount of research on. I chose these over stabilla because I thought they would be tougher. I cant afford to go back and buy stabilla. This is such a drag!!

Up to today I'd have agreed with you - I think this REDSTICK level does a real good job. There not there yet - but damn close

You must mean Sola and Stabila. Crick with their archaic curved glass vials are way out of date.

depends on income per head... if the people in a country are too poor they won't pay too much for something... they buy 7 times cheap crab instead buy one time something good... and the small bunch of people who really want have something good, need to ship stuff from other countries to get this...
