My trust is gone. It died with the Najdorf.
Same
I think the point is that Najdorf is complicated for lower levels whereas Vienna is great for most levels so he kinda has a point but objectively Najdorf is much better.
Mine died with the Nimzo-Larsen
And not to mention the Queen’s Gambit
Yea Vienna over najdorf is crazy work
If this list was for the average chess player it would probably be right.
sped you gotta make two separate brackets: one for the white pieces and one for the black pieces
true
Can we be nice to him about the call on the Sicilian vs Vienna game. 😂
NO
Well we know he is Gotham Chess fan.
I support his decision 😂
Even tho I don't agree with 60% of your opinions, I still enjoyed this video, great job
Modern defense: playing g6 Bg7 d6 and a6
this guy: Ok so you will transpose to a Pirc😂
dont listen to this dude
I might be the only one thinking this but… LETS GOOOOO🎉🎉🎉
Guys can you stop hating on him? Like he had to make some tough decisions and remove his favorite openings. Show some sympathy.
If you're ever looking for a solid opening, just pick up the opposite of whichever this monster chooses
Bro atleast come to his level before you talk like this. He already told it is his bracket

@@raghavkrishna1690 It was a joke...
@@alekhinesgun9997 k sorry
10:00 As someone who dabbles in the Benko Gambit, I wanted to clarify some inaccuracies in the explanation, for the sake of people unfamiliar with the gambit looking to learn it.
When White captures the pawn on a6, Black wants to recapture with the Bishop immediately, with the idea of trading off the Light-squared Bishops. If White plays e4 (the main line after 6.Nc3, d6) then Black will take White's bishop on f1, forcing White to recapture with the King and delaying White's development - time which Black uses to develop and bring their Major pieces to the Queenside.
Additionally, while e6 is a common idea in the Benoni, when we play the Benko typically we actually play d6 instead, fixing White's pawns in the center, and sometimes we will try to target White's backwards c-pawn, similar to ideas in the Advanced French / Caro. Black usually doesn't play e6 until the late middle-game / endgame, if they even play it at all.
Often Black wants to Fianchetto their Dark Squared Bishop, and focus their play on the Queenside. Usually White will try to play e5 / e6 in order to break up Black's pawns or mount a Kingside attack before Black can overwhelm White on the Queenside.
Typically, if White can hold back Black's Queenside pressure they will be better, but Black has long-term compensation for the pawn and it isn't uncommon for Black to carry their material disadvantage into an endgame and still emerge equal / better.
Super fun opening to play, and one of the most strategically sound gambits out there, in my opinion only the Queen's Gambit trumps it.
evans gambit
@@chadohioskibidi Evan's Gambit is high A tier, Benko is S tier. I play both tho and ofc the Evan's is great.
@@isaakvandaalen3899 stockfish likes evans more. are you saying your better than stckfish?
@@chadohioskibidi no I'm saying I like the Benko better. Both openings are sound. If you want to sit there and parrot Stockfish all day, you do that, but from a practical perspective the Benko gives Black long term compensation for the pawn, which is extremely difficult for an unprepared White player to deal with.
@@isaakvandaalen3899 I have played both, and prefer evans gambit.
I've stopped playing after you picked Vienna, I can't take it seriously. I'm gone, but I'll still leave you a comment 👍🏾😂😂😂
I'm not afraid to say that the Vienna is my fav opening too!
Agreed
Agreed
I honestly think you are one of the most underrated creators on the entire platform.
Consistent, interesting, and instructive HOUR LONG videos on a usually semi-confusing topic like chess??
That’s insane!!
The Vienna is wayyyyyyy better than naidorf
Najdorf is better for high level, Vienna is better for lowel levels@@deeparavichandran
Jerome gambit is crazy but so much fun
This comment section is brutal 😭
You lost me when you chose the Vienna over Najdorf
You’re really going to take Vienna over one of the top 3 most solid openings in chess, the Najdorf. Wow.
I think it’s just because its really hard to play. My trust died with kings Indian over queens gambit
@@fallennightcore719 That's the point. The Najdorf is a line of the Sicilian, an opening which is known for crazy amounts of theory. The list should rank objective strength, not how fun something is to play. Traxler, grob, kings gambit and other "trash" (according to the engines and higher level play) is fun in blitz and rapid but shouldn't be played in a more serious environment. That's why the Najdorf is such a great opening. All GMs have played it.
Could you make a video on the Horwitz, Papa Ticulat Gambit?
Horwitz will transposs into the French 80% of the time
Thanks bro! For all the opening info! I hope you're going ok in the chess world!
You got to understand the end game bro!
Because the further you get the stronger you get!
I have played chess for
53 years only gotten 2 fool's 😂 hardcore E4 player! For any e5 f4 has done the most damage!
Black mainly ,,d5! ,,c5! Defence And for D4 openings obviously the Indian and deeply!
Decline Queens gambit! And,,f5! That's all you get catch you later!
Sir, I am a 900 elo player, and sometimes thiss can be a little difficult, because, under cicumstances, I am genrally "dumb". I understand when someone teaches me like for just an example: The Italian game, flows into the 2 knights when .... is played, also when opening with the bishops opening, then you go for the Italian after in which you Fried liver and costage and sometimes traxler, not that then the guicci piano is played and if not after then the scotch is the best. You can also use the ruy lopez when you want to put pressure because your goal is to... and all of these is like one strategic thinking process for players under the 1000 elo and we need these videos sir if you would like to make one I would be so glad. Like one about d4 or gambits or something as you know what I am talking about obviously. Please Sir
I personally really like playing the Larsen Attack, while pushing 2 pawn s on the opposite side of the bishop fianchetto, trying to win the rook.
Bro… literally 3 of my best openings got to at least round 4 😅
There is problem. Sometimes it's about personal, what author would play, sometimes it's about importance. Vienna Game is not so important or popular. So at least Caro-Kann must stop it. But... Also having both Sicilian in general and some variants is strange.
Hey man, you keep talking about the modern without having a clue what you're talking about. The point is to delay Nf6 and castling
Bro needs a new comment section
I'm wondering how little people agreed on every level
the Najdorf is a high IQ opening, in contrast to the Vienna, which is a low IQ system
Why is noone talking about Nimzo vs Muzio? That was brutal.
Catalan Opening it's the best opening.
What the heck guys, yall are such haters. Beautiful content man
Starting off bad already, najdorf easily beats vienna, bad opinions af
I main the vienna and it's absolutely great under GM level
All that for a Vienna
You lost my trust it died with the Sicilian and french.
my trust is gone
At this point everyone can just be gotham copy. What even is the point in actually making your stuff? just overexaggerate vienna and everyone will watch u. 3/10 from me
Gotham city?
i think he likes the vienna game
vienna over najdorf. wow. what. what. huh??? what??
Even though you picked your favorite and probably "best" opening, I think the best opening is Spanish and Caro-Kann and French and all Sicilians.😃😎
But at the end of the day, Spanish and Caro-Kann.😅🙂
Tbh i agree with him choosing vienna over najdorf because that simply has too many lines to memorize and will EASILY overwhelm a beginner and even intermediates. Not the same with Vienna, its simple and easy and its also extremely solid.
Please do the Catalan, I am playing in a strong open tournament in August and since most of the opponents will be up to 500 points higher rated than me, I doubt I will have much success with my current more aggressive repertoire, as they are all tactically sharper and more skilled at calculation than me. Because of this I want a more solid opening where I can get to a completely equal position with endgames that I can press, and it seems the Catalan can do that. But all of the other videos are too complex, so i would really appreciate a Catalan video from you
Goddamn it. Where was the heads up telling peeps to finish filling out your brackets? This is a travesty. All my picks just crushed left and right. So pissed right now.
Miss you man hope your doing well
Excellent video ! I have a question is it possible for you to make a video on the queen's gambit but on all the defenses after 1.d4 Nf6 please.
i wouldve been so pissed off if you chose london over sicilian. sure it's solid for the user, but nobody likes a london player.
Don’t take the negativity to heart, it’s just an opinionated topic. Let Stockfish settle this!
most masculine vienna game player
your lack of knowledge in 1.d4 openings is painfully evident
Grob is borg spelled backwards, and vice versa. Coincidence?
You lost 57 minutes of viewtime with vienna over najdorf... From one viewer being me
Vienna is way better than the naidorf take that😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@deeparavichandran No, it is not, at least not at the 2000+ level.
Personally, I like the Evans gambit more than the Vienna, tho that might be cause I play Nf3 more than Nc3
Same, the Evans is great tho because if the opponent doesn't know theory you're gonna get atleast +1.5 positions like 90% of the time, while against the Vienna even without knowing theory you might survive by playing moves that make sense
This hurts to watch
I like having all pawns protect eachother and never move them again😂
8:05 damn, my favourite opening got out immediately
You get fun opposite side castling positions almost every game and nobody knows theory, so I get a better or winning position like 90% of the time.
At least you can transpose into it from the vienna, so it technically won the bracket too.
What the
I really just watched 58 minutes just for Vienna to win nice
The sicilian defense is the best opening!
Can you do an opening tutorial in slav defense
Video about the Nakhmanson Gambit?
Lol i like vienna too, best with kings indian
Pls make a video on pirc defense❤
I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
Sicilian has been refuted by the strongest engines.
Really does not matter in the slightest, even at master level, it’s still played all the time
this is a very fun video idea!
Oil up Wil....ups wrong channel😢
Less than 50 vivas in 7 mins bro really fell of
Stfu you edited it and ur spelling is still wrong
Vienna winning, this is gonna be a rough video lol 😬
It's time to quit chess after watching this horrendous take on openings.
These videos make me want to get back into chess, but as someone who hasn't played in months, I boot up a game and lose to somebody 500 Elo points below me. It's so depressing 😭
Yeah this is terrible opinion
najdorf lossing against the nc3 italian 💀💀💀what is wrong with you
Bird's Opening is not good for any level.
Round 3 killed me lol I felt it too
never let this guy cook again
