Extra points for the people who noticed that Dr. Joel Kahn cited a psychiatrist when he talked about the colleague who said that there were no randomized trials for the carnivore diet. Apparently a psychiatrist can know stuff about nutrition.
Haha well in all fairness, maybe it does help. Given that mind and body are connected, the more I understand the hysterical mindset of these mainstream media doctors, the less confidence I have in their diet. I'm only half joking here. I've experimented with the keto diet and fasting and in doing both, I've experienced clearer thoughts, more focus and more emotional control.
This is called "authoritarianism" and it is responsible for the deaths of millions of people.

When politics enters science, it is no longer science
Yep. It becomes a shouting contest over which person should run the circus

Most terrorists are Religious maniacs.
@@sammybosak10 No it goes both ways. When people lose faith, being whatever they believe in, in that sense as well "Faith" as in their faith in people and just in general to be able to convey their points. PEOPLE get arrogant and hateful. the more hateful people get, the less we can comprehend that people are trying to make a point all together.
Stay considerate, open and reciprocative. Explain your points and ideas concisely, and stand by your beliefs. Don't shit on others and be willing to consider other planes of thought.

Well, the audience is probably enjoying themselves, getting paid to sit there and clap on cue. They probably come from the same casting office that provides audiences for infomercials.
The audience gets paid to react so, they're having the best time
You listen to the conversation, he saying a all meat diet.. they are saying people need fruits and vegetables.. this guy is a moron!!!
I mean, I'd be smiling too but it would be from my brain glitching out from the absurd cognitive dissonance being so strong in the very air of the room that I could smell it, but I wouldn't be having a good time. As an engineer, nothing makes me more afraid than the phrase “trust the science”
Gotta break that shit down
If you don’t mind me asking, how so?
Or the phrase "the community" (also an engineer).
Right, b/c engineering isn't science! I got ya
People who say they "trust" the science, or that everyone should "believe in science" are just proving that they don't understand it at the most important and fundamental level. The fact that this is so rampant these days is actually super scary.
It’s very amusing how calm and collected this man is while everyone else is just screaming or shouting to sound more passionate even if they’re wrong

As long as we have judges like her in office than the justice system will always be unjust. I can only imagine how many people she locked away that maybe didn't deserve the sentence they got because she wouldn't listen to them.
probably bias also
Good news! She isn't anymore! Hooray 🎉👏🎉👏🎉.
Just what I was thinking. I’d bet that no white male who walked through her courtroom got a just and unbiased judgement.
That’s why I never call it the justice system. Very very rarely is actual justice served. It’s the legal system.
When someone is this angry and loud, it means they are not just biased, but compromised. She is not willing to hear other arguments because she has invested interest in promoting her ideas. Disgusting.
Or it could also be guilt and shame that they don't know how to deal with so they lash out at the person who is making them feel that way.
This is an old technique of the loser and is called: "ad hominem" which in English means "against the man." If person A is losing an argument with person B instead of admitting it, person A attacks person B by means of a personal insult. In sports it's called: "playing the man, instead of the ball."
@@autodidact537 That's why I always laugh when someone I'm debating gets personal; it is an admission of having no legitimate counterpoint. It also keeps me from being flustered by it.

How to win an argument
1. Be louder than the other person
2. don't give them a chance to speak so that they can't disprove you
3. keep plausible deniability with everything you say
If only it worked that way.
When you argue with inexperienced people, those are definitely your trump cards.
You see it coming from people like Ben Shapiro as well. He mostly posts videos of him criticizing inexperienced, naive individuals who aren't experts on what they're talking about, and oftentimes they don't really have an honest chance to defend themselves or their arguments.
@@JohnDoesSports hes done many debates, his university tours he totally gives people the chance to make their case against him. It's not Ben's fault that those that try to counter argue have 0 facts to back their claims.

On a side note I was really sick and have been doing the carnivore diet for 6 months and I feel amazing. Not scientific but it means something to me.
Interesting and good that it worked for you. My sister feels better with a vegan diet because that works for her.
Watch a Jordan Peterson daughter Mikayla Peterson talk about her "lion diet"
Good for you. - Maybe it was carnivore diet, maybe it was eating less sugary, processed foods. Tip: if it was made in a factory, don't eat it.
Could also just be not eating processed foods. Are you eating fast food all the time as well? Based on the few people I've seen change their diet quite a bit over the years due to medical reasons, I think if you don't eat a balanced diet, then you have to change everything to get those nutrients that you were missing. Apparently other people who go on the carnivore diet need to take vitamin supplements for the vitamins they don't get through meat and some people have annoying side effects like migraines and diarrhea from eating only meat long term.
If our bodies were supposed to live off only one food (plants or meat) then I'm sure that would have been very obvious by now. But people couldn't get all the nutrients their bodies needed by only eating plants, which made them start hunting animals. I don't think there was ever a real debate about this until more recent. But I think the changes people are seeing is just them cutting out processed foods. If you ate home grown plants that didn't have chemicals sprayed on them and ate animals you raised on a farm and didn't inject growth hormones in them, you'd feel just as good.
Also of note, everyone has different enzyme combinations in their stomach. Hence why some are lactose intolerant, some have glucose intolerance etc. Thus, this would be an interesting area of inquiry if serious research was ever done on why some diets work well for people.
It’s so insulting to know that that crazy lady was a judge that has an effect on people’s lives seeing how ignorant she is.
I wonder what sentences she had given out simply because she wanted to. Poor people.

Yes, neither Hollywood nor political doctors either. I trust MY doctor because she knows ME and MY specific medical situation.
It's hard to even trust your personal doctors.
Yeah, but then you go to three different doctors and get three different opinions
Heck I would even go further and consult multiple physicians if you are unsure of something that could majorly impact your health, personally speaking.
I've got a few family members with an autoimmune disease (not Lupus though) who went full carnivore around 4 years ago. Symptoms were gone within a few months, and they've had none since. Have heard similar stories from those with rheumatoid arthritis, another autoimmune disease. Carnivore definitely seems to have some merit for these diseases, even if we don't yet understand why.
I guess carnivore diet might mean keto or low carb. And for those the science knows some proof that it might help.
But it´s important not to eat fried meat bc of trans fatty acids.
@@caracho7191 those in my family with autoimmune diseases are basically 100% beef and chicken. No breading or batter, though they use fruit oils on occasion (olive and avocado).
We were a hunter race for quite a while, only supplimenting our diets with plants. then we discovered farming, which created a huge dietary shift faster than evolution could change us
I've looked into it and the carnivore diet does seem to lack fiber and some vitamins which could cause digestion issues

I don't think they understand science ?? Last time I checked not trusting the science and figuring out the problem yourself is how science is done.
As a scientist, it makes me roll my eyes when scientists in the media says "believe in science". Scientists shouldn't be "believing" science. They should be "thinking" science.
As a human who isn't as dumb as those "media doctors", I have to agree with this statement
Science unfortunately has replaced religion in a lot of cases
Exactly. Science isn't about faith or belief. If the truth was there, there'd be no need to trust the science.
It's frustrating to see all these so-called "fellow scientists" ignore the basic protocol that foregoes proving a hypothesis right or wrong. Instead, they overreach for a conclusion that's in line with their bias.
Yeah, but the reason they say that so often is because they are telling a lot of lies (particularly regarding health and nutrition), so they use the 'trust science' slogan to make the claim that their science cannot be disputed (and anyone who does is somehow deranged).
When you actually look under the surface, most of the scientific studies they want us to believe don't even exist (such as saturated fat causing heart disease, they tried their best to get the results they wanted, and couldn't do it, so those studies got downplayed or buried).
This man is so calm in the face of idiots.
What's also really annoying is that when the guy says something he gets interrupted and then after the women finish yelling at him (even though he never got to finish his statement) everyone claps.

I literally became a software engineer by reading articles as a kid. It's very easy to underestimate what smart people can do if you're on the other side of the curve.
I became a mechanic through reading. One day my dad came over when I was in the middle of a repair and asked me how did you learn how to do this? (Pre internet me: reading.)
Reading is underrated. On the job is great but fairly anecdotal. Why not harness 1000's of on the job experience through literature.
There are things that you can't learn just from reading, you do need practice to get the physical motions down. Could be anything from practicing surgery to firing a rifle. But the theory behind those motions, the reasons why you do things in a certain way and what way to do them, yeah, that can all come out of books. I think when a lot of people think of becoming educated, they assume you have to listen to someone give lectures and answer questions. They seem unable to grasp the idea that a book is just a lecture that's been written down, and when it's done properly it answers all the same questions a professor might forget to address in their lecture. I've had some good teachers over the years, but I've still learned far more from my own readings than any from teacher.
One question to discern fools from normal humans:
"Is mathematics absolute truth?"
@@fragileomniscience7647 The answer: no, it isn't. Math is a system of rules (created by humans), which when applied to axioms (also chosen by humans) it will give a result. Nah she doesn’t lack common sense she knows exactly what she’s doing. She’s trying to intimidate him and confuse him so he fumbles in someway so in the end since she’s the only one who spoke loudly and firmly, subconsciously people would think she’s the one who has the most knowledge in the conversation. He's a risk of showing everyone that those "doctors" are paid actors w no real interest in educating the audience. They just want ratings on daytime tv and more money
He was saying something she didn't like, or something against their corporate propaganda narrative: eating meat is normal and natural.
I would say that a meat- dairy and eggs heavy diet changed my life. I rarely eat a salad, fruits only when in season and very minimally. It’s been about 3 years and I only have salad around Christmas or thanksgiving when other people make. Cutting out most vegetables and fruit including many grains, I have cleared up my skin, my digestion etc. I stay away from anything with seed oils in them. Cooking at home from scratch works best for me. I actually try to eat my ancestral diet.

Oh god.. that “judge” at the beginning. So obvious that she’s not confident in herself at all and has to power trip wherever she goes, especially if men are involved.
Seriously...I'm definitely for equality and for everyone to be treated with consideration and respect, but when men have thrown shit at women for so long and we have all come to a common understanding that it's not all that healthy or right of an idea to be acting or thinking this, so we stop, it doesn't help when you have other people still hateful and stuck in the
mindset of revenge or spite that they start the same cycle again, just from the other direction now.
@@christophewells3918 Yep, two wrongs don’t make a right and it just keeps the cycle of revenge going. The left isn’t fighting for equality.. they’re fighting for superiority. They actually already have it but it’s still not enough for them.
@@darthsilversith667 I couldn't have said it better myself.
The only thing I could possibly add is we could be in a good place if one party could actually agree on what is enough, and then the other party could also agree on where they would call it enough.
However, that would require actual conversation.
I've seen people in politics in some corners of youtube and twitch doing that now, but it's not enough to poke the bear of actual conversation yet to promote it further.
@@christophewells3918 Unfortunately, both sides have largely been polarized to think they’re right and the other side is wrong. They may even outright hate the other side. To be fair.. I have grown to despise most leftist but only because of how radical and unreasonable they’ve become. BUT.. I am still willing to have a conversation with them that doesn’t spiral into name calling and refusing to even consider the other position.
If you extrapolate that judge's utter stupidity to the entire judicial system, it's frightening. Thankfully she's a rare exception, right? Right??

I was part of one of these live studio audience of The Drs back in the early 2010's. It was for a senior-year field trip at my high school, they were filming an episode that day regarding athletic injuries using a watermelon as a prop. After going on for 5 minutes about how Football players have to face bodily harm every time they play, they had a college player demonstrate the force of a tackle to the watermelon, explaining that the kinetic force coupled with his gear would explode the watermelon upon impact. Well wouldn't you know it, the player barely made a dent to the melon and deflated their earlier diatribe in less than 10 seconds. The grimace they were making while the crew readied for another take was embarrassing, I've learned not to trust everything in these shows ever since.

Learning to understand papers, articles, to discrern usefull and relevant information is the key here. Much of what you learn at any school can eventually be superseded. Researching information to determine which facts are current and relevant to your topic is not as simple as most people think it is.
I honestly don't know how you cover stuff like this. I just can't handle whatever this show is. I can even handle when you cover the all female talk shows with the women just chirping back and forth at each other. But oh my gosh something about this one just sent me... You definitely have a special talent to be able to sit through and cover of the entirety of this show. I could barely sit through your video on the topic. Lol.
I love how the other doctor asks if he is a nutritionist blatantly ignoring the fact that they invited a judge on the show
Thank you for pointing this out! Some how an M.D. who studies nutrition is less qualified than a random lawyer. Just looking the difference in their health proves a point.

I love the argument from authority fallacy with the internist/nutritionist I'M BOARD CERTIFIED!! Like that's great, but it doesn't automatically legitimize your argument.
And not just any judge, but a fat one. Who are you going to listen to in matters of diet and nutrition, a fat judge, or a lean doctor who has spent years reading through published papers to figure out nutrition (and even wrote a book as a compendium of his research)?

Just a reminder that there is no regulated use of the term “nutritionist”. The medically regulated discipline is “dietician”. So anyone claiming to be a nutritionist could be an incredibly well informed expert, or an ignorant snake-oil salesperson who took a 5 day course.

While this is not exactly on topic, I noticed that when the "doctors" spoke or overtalked the male doctor, they were applauded and cheered on. Do note, that's not always true. Some learned information is practical/applicable skills. Meaning doing is more important than reading thus you can learn on your own by doing. Other skills are more informational driven and sorta require a teacher to curate relevant information that is correct.
Even on your own, to learn science you need someone to have verified and peer reviewed the information you're reading. Even if you choose to apply it on your own using principles you learned without a teacher, you still need others to learn because they need to peer review the work.
