For the position I’m working now, I didn’t send a follow up email but I did send to many other professors later in the emailing phase. It’s good to send a follow up after some weeks of getting no response but do that only once.
when i was going through university website they have mentioned about not mailing faculty member instead they rather prefer for submitting application through online . Should we go for mailing faculty member or directly apply and wait for assistantship? can you please reply it would be great help.
If they have specifically mentioned that in the Uni website then maybe skip that uni or directly apply for the program if you really want that university. Some universities do that.
It depends on professor. I have seen professor not asking any questions to asking very academic questions. But the hard ones are rare. Mostly it’s just about knowing the students research interest and person.

You pay for SEVIS to schedule a visa interview date. Assistantship only covers tuition and provides stipend for living.

Gpa above 3 is fine because that is requirement in most universities but not all.

My GRE score was 302🫣 and I don’t exactly know my gpa but it was 77%.
