  • A group of wildcats have been released into the Scottish Highlands in an attempt to improve their dwindling numbers in the wild.
A team from the Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) has been rearing the cats in an enclosure in preparation for their release into the wild.
The project, which is decades in the making, plans to release 60 wildcats into the wilds of the Cairngorms National Park over the next few years.

Wildcats need to be protected, this Scotsman supports.
I've got a Hybrid myself. His Dad was a Scottish Wildcat & his Mum was Pedigree - unsure of Breed.
He's a Wildcat for sure, two Birds Yesterday. 5 Mice last Week. I've got Scars myself but he loves me without doubts.
    Regards

Right, anybody visiting the Highlands from now on watch out for these beautiful cats. Don't want to see any dead by the side of the road like I did with the red kites.😢

Hopefully Boars, Bears and Wolves next... Just to control the number of naturally occurring ramblers. 😉

Wild Boars are already in Scotland.
They migrated up north from released populations in England and have been doing rather well settling back into their native habitat.

Pertnership working together to release wild cats into the wilds. Which is longwinded way if saying.. After many years of working together, we were able to release the animals into the wilds.

I highly doubt it's possible for the next 50-100 years at least. However, a Safari park in Scotland with Wolves, Bears, Moose, Boars, Beavers, Eagles and more would be a great addition and possible within a shorter time frame and a great boost to the rural economy. And Wild Cats of course!
