I wanna give my advice.
When I first started riding I was dead set that I wanted to buy a brand new Honda rebel. I was ready to go to the dealership, and was dead set on getting a cruiser. Then I found a super cheap 2015 Yamaha bolt on Craigslist. So I bought it, fixed a few things on it and rode it for about 3,000 miles in 3 months. After a while I realized I hated cruisers. Too heavy, loud, slow and annoying.
I sold it for profit and bought a 2014 ninja 650. Put about 4,000 miles in 4 months. I liked it, but hated it at the same time. I wanted to go faster, and wanted something physically larger.
So I sold it and now I have a CBR600RR.
TL;DR DONT BUY NEW. BUY SOMETHING USED BECAUSE YOU MIGHT END UP NOT LIKING WHAT YOU THOUGHT YOU MIGHT LIKE.
Damn. Thanks man!
While I agree with the point.
A friggin Bolt is NOT a cruiser.
It's what newbies buy on impulse.
ChanoPokes if it’s not a cruiser then what is it? I got it for only $1,000 lol
@R Mcdud You must crazy to think the Bolt is a sport touring. LOL! If that's the case then what is a ninja 650? ninja 300? etc. Hahaha.
@R Mcdud The SCR "scrambler" is NOT a scrambler. It's some retro-inspired garbage. The Bolt is almost an exact copy of a HD 883. I guess the 883 is also a sport touring huh?

One of the big deciding factors for me was the weight itself and being able to support it...? Maybe its different with guys, but as a beginner FEMALE rider I struggled so much just supporting a bike!
At the start I found it really difficult just walking the bike somewhere or even straddling it, it made me really insecure in my ability to support it! Once you are a more experienced rider, you don't think about it anymore and it's a lot easier, but there are some things that are just really difficult for me to do with a heavy bike! (like picking it up, backing it up or walking it forward) Also, I'm short so that doesn't help. This fact alone rules out a bunch of bikes in my books for me as a beginner bike, so I went for a Honda CBR300r, though I can see myself upgrading in the future :)It's perfect for my smaller size, and an absolutely amazing beginners bike and great even in city driving
I don't consider myself weak at all, but I guess I was forced to face facts when I need to ask my boyfriend to back my bike into the garage for me because he has a much easier time with it
Just something to keep in mind if you are bike shopping :)
TL;DR Don't buy something huge because it's cooler, buy something you can comfortably sit on and support!
How's it now after 2 years
@@gradientO now it doesn't really matter to me anymore :) as a beginner for sure but not now as an experienced rider
Get a kid bike.
I’m having a really similar problem being 5’4 and 120 lbs. Everything feels huge
as a MALE rider I had the same worry but it ended up being fine
I bought a sports bike, loved it. Over time I didn't like the seat, my back was hurting and I couldn't go on sandy roads. I now ride comfortably on a street legal enduro bike with half street/half off road tires and I love it so far.
That's why Hayabusa is my most favourite sport bike because it's made for touring too and better for 2 passenger than fully sport bikes although there are some few bikes that could surpass it btw bike which can surpass Hayabusa in speed and acceleration can't surpass in comfort.. ( Eg 1000R or H2R )
you left out a Supermoto category. In my opinion they are very different to dirt bikes
absolutely true
Including enduros. And they both are street legal. I got offended for these bikes not on the list.
I see enduros, supermotos and dirtbikes as the exact same thing.. (I have ridden dirtbikes, enduros and supermotos 🙄)
@@salasana7517 maybe that is you opinion, BUT
there is a big difference: dirt bikes are mostly made for motocross (example: husqvarna tc, husqvarna fc , while enduros are made to be a legal version of the dirt bikes (example: husqvarna 701 enduro, ktm exc) and supermotos are made only for the street and also to be kinda fast (example: husqvarna 501/701, ktm 690 smc-r)
@@trigon.6296 i know they are meant to do different things but yet still you can change your suspension and wheels on ur supermoto and bum you have a dirtbike

Nice rundown of the different options... Like you mentioned, the Jack of all Motorbikes, the Sports Tourers. Awaiting a detailed video with available brands & your pick of them all. Keep up the riding spirit
Nice overview. When making test rides and comparisons, I would make note of a couple parameters in order to see if you need to base your decision on one of them. Two human parameters really determine how comfortable your bike will be: in-seam length and height relative to bike dimensions that were highlighted in the video. As to the bike, the nervousness or relaxedness of steering: rake and trail.
Yep! Wish id known more about this (and the bike width) before getitng mine.
My dad has a touring bike and I can confirm it is comfortable, he's used it for his job before and I went with him. Nice long ride in comfort, even tho I was on the back

I just wanted something cheap and not too fast for my first motorcycle, so I got a Suzuki GZ250. I'm loving it so far and I have ridden 130 miles in just 3 days. I love how I can be on it for multiple hours and still be comfortable on it. I think I might be becoming a cruiser guy. Maybe until I feel just how FAST a sport bike is.
I vote Sport Touring bikes because I love my back
shadrock99 how so? (Genuine question born of pure ignorance btw)
I own a Yammie XT660R, and love it. Use it for daily commute, as well as longer trips. Just had the seat re-designed with a 2 tier level type seat. My next bike is going to be the Yammie S10. My dream bike is a Honda Goldwing, but way above my affordability :-). Had a Honda VFR400R which was an ex-racing bike made street legal. Was fast, and the sound of that V4 motor, but uncomfortable as hell. So, I prefer comfort over speed. Great videos.

As a busy college student who plans on studying med, I don’t really see myself getting into the moto lifestyle too much. If anything, I’d rather just get one bike that I can grow with over the years and still have tons of fun riding. Factors are comfort, looks, and not too much speed (like a Hayabusa) but enough to get a good laugh outta me every once in a while. I’m considering the Kawasaki Vulcan 650 and the MT 07 as many recommend them for beginners who aren’t looking to buy a 2nd bike. Suggestions?
