I remember being fourteen and regularly texting or hanging around with guys in their twenties, at the time if was totally normal but I look back and just can't get my head around how anyone could have thought that was acceptable. My boyfriend has a twelve year old daughter and if she was ever texting a guy in his twenties I would report him to the police. My family did nothing as it was just normal. The number of girls who got engaged to guys ten years their senior the second they turned eighteen is just bizarre and horrifying.

Imagine risking the lives of your children to smuggle literature. And it isn’t even the Bible, it’s literally just some propaganda papers 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just found your channel (the video of Tony begging members to start going back to in person meetings was a top recommendation…good job!), and I’m already hooked! So glad you’re doing this. The thing that I like most is how happy and respectful you come across. Too many ex JW’s are raging mad. They act exactly how JW’s want “apostates” to behave, which just serves to solidify their stance. My dad gets FURIOUS when he tries to offend me with his beliefs, but fails. He literally tries to persecute me when he believes that he’s supposed to be a victim 🤔

After I hadn’t gone to meetings for quite a while I felt I’d try one more time so I went to meeting. I’d moved by then and didn’t know anyone so I had no tie to the congregation and my mind had been clear from the constant indoctrination so it was like a fresh look at the meeting. A couple was there who had served in Africa, a middle aged white couple, dressed completely in brand new African garb and they had an interview kind of like this. It was the most scripted cringe thing. I actually started kind of crying because I was so weirded out and it was like yeah I’ve been in a cult my whole life.

It seems that the human race itself is endowed with good and evil and it is fought with civilization itself. Mankind since a Cain and Able,... And the rest of the stories of the ancient script scriptures mentions many accounts of what happens when you are faithful and when you are not. But I'm not going to believe that I must be faithful to men over God in any political situation. Be it a governing body of anyone.

I was on several circuit assembly interview parts over the years. First off, the society has a story they want to be presented and then they ask the elders all over to find someone who has an experience that matches the story they already made up. Then you have to go over your interview part over and over and the elders make you change parts to say what they want to hear. By the time you get on stage you are just repeating a story that was fed to you. That’s why it all sounds so fake and scripted. It is!

Desensitization to the creepy televangelism vibe must’ve needed to happen to older, multi-generational JWs gradually, because I left a little while before JW broadcasting was a thing- I was basically done in 2012; and if you had told me that they’d end up being a full on slave-powered production/real estate company spitting out cheesy nonsense online, I wouldn’t have believed you.
I certainly wouldn’t have believed that my JW family and peers would ever take something like this seriously as “spiritual food.”

I was also basically done with the Society around that same time, although it took another couple of years to fully stop. I know what you mean. The first real instance of my noticing something was off was in the late ‘90’s when I was attending a district assembly and the speakers on the platform all sounded as though they were speaking in a monotone whereas previously I remember hearing orators on the assembly platform. Then came the 2009 Song Book and I noticed that the Kingdom Songs had all become bland-sounding, with absolutely no vestige of four-part harmony. (As someone who was actually permitted by his parents, themselves witnesses, to be in the school orchestra and who enjoyed going through the Society’s earlier Song Books in the Theocratic School library, I just couldn’t get into the whole modern idiom of the music. It simply didn’t sound appropriate for meetings and assemblies. The songs sounded rather like something one would hear on a Top-40 radio station, or, at least, cheap imitations thereof.) After that, during my pulling away stage, I attended the Society’s 2013 annual meeting where the revised edition of the “New World Translation” was issued. This edition did the impossible, to wit, make the earlier editions seem somewhat accurate by comparison. At the same time, the Society announced that it was opening an exhibit on the Bible and the Tetragrammaton at Brooklyn headquarters. As I sat in the Assembly Hall auditorium at London, Ohio, that morning, I couldn’t shake the thought that this annual meeting was a bust. (Bear in mind that I had also attended the centennial annual meeting in October 1984. That, at least, seemed to be a resounding success, although that program was essentially a retrospective of the history of the Society.) By this time, I no longer recognized the Society as the same organization with which I had been involved since the late ‘70’s- it had completely changed its identity.
Of course, the roots of that metamorphosis go back to the late ‘70’s with the goings on at headquarters, culminating in the forced resignation of Ray Franz from the Governing Body. In the wake of that and his subsequent set-up of a disfellowshipping, two subtitles in the January 15, 1983, “Watchtower” would stay with me for the remainder of my time in the organization, to wit, “Avoid Independent Thinking” and “Fight Against Independent Thinking”. The point of each was to “avoid” it in oneself and to “fight against” it in others. There was a decades-long struggle between that admonition from the Society and the encouragement- and, indeed, policy- of my witness parents to my siblings and me to think and reason for ourselves.
By 2012 and 2013, I had realized that the Society had succeeded in stifling independent thinking amongst Jehovah’s witnesses. Yet, there I was questioning things in my personal study. I went as deep as I could in preparing “Watchtower” lessons so that I could both figure out what the Society was saying and see whether or not I could in good conscience agree with what the Society was saying. Of course, I could not in good conscience agree. The last straw was the Sunday sessions of the 2016 regional assembly. While the other delegates were taking what the speakers on the platform were saying and responding to it like trained seals, I felt a sense of emptiness coming from the platform as well as a sense that, as I left the arena that evening, I was saying goodbye to the friends I knew there for the last time. Indeed, by the very next afternoon, I had made a conscious decision to not attend another meeting or assembly again. And, that was it. No letter. No hearing before the committee. No discussion with the congregation servant or the field overseer or the group servant or anyone else. To use a Biblical expression, ‘no consultation with flesh and blood’.-Galatians 1:16.
During the intervening couple of years, in the course of my pulling away, of course, the Society had started “Jw Broadcasting”. It was, by far the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen during my lifetime in the organization. At the same time, however, in light of the above, it was not surprising in the least. In fact, to me, it seemed a natural arc for the Society to parade its representatives in front of a camera like gaudy, tasteless televangelists, the Society’s own statements against such individuals notwithstanding. The organization is nothing if not hypocritical!
“The Inside Story” segment of interviews during the Gilead graduations is but another example of hypocrisy on the part of the Society, given its statements regarding television talk shows. Yet, this is the format chosen for interviews of graduating missionaries. And, of course, their classmates comprise the studio audience and respond like trained seals!
The Society, particularly in recent years, presents nothing more than mindless drivel. What most current witnesses don’t realize is this is in keeping with its own prohibition on independent thinking. The result is that eight men living at a lakeside resort in the Catskills do the thinking of Jehovah’s witnesses for them. And while we, for our part, can and should laugh at it, yet, we must do so recognizing that therein lies the danger for those still in!

You see literature ! Not the Bible !!

    • @terridovey7648
      @terridovey7648 2 года назад +1

Exactly!! Real Christians have their Bible above all else. We don't need anyone telling us what God has to say. And the pastors preach from what is in the Bible. We have no literature giving us someone else's ideas and beliefs.
      God bless my friend!

Regarding the older elder/young pioneer girl Thing you’re talking about around 14:26
the tldr: I experienced this personally, in addition to witnessing it happening with my peers. From what I’ve experienced, they didn’t bother waiting for us to turn 18.
When I was 16, I started pioneering. At the time, I lived with my best friend T (age 17) in a basement walkout. She’d been pioneering for more than a year prior.
We were *very* close, we even shared a twin bed all cuddled up together at night. I think we were in love, but the indoctrination stunted our relationship to a *very intimate* friend zone. I don’t like to waste time with “if only” but sometimes… it slips out and I wonder what could’ve been if only the world was sane.
Anyhoo, T and I received *a lot* of inappropriate attention from older men in our large 130+ publisher congregation. We didn’t really receive any attention from any age-appropriate/young men, in fact, they all seemed to be hiding behind the literature counter, cheeks all various shades of red.
Particularly noteworthy, though was the attention and gifts we received from one set of (fleshy) brothers who were pioneers/elders in our hall. They were 29 and 32, and I think they grew up in Wisconsin before they came to haunt us in Minnesota.
I imagine they had some fantasy about us getting married and moving in with them in their ticky-tacky duplex on the lake. Maybe they imagined they’d eventually move us back to their hometown… I don’t know if they flipped a coin, or picked a favorite by hair color or body type, but the older one seemed to be after me and the younger one was after my T.
Eventually the younger brother bought T a brand new Nokia 3310, (she figured it was a way to make her feel obliged to talk to him). That same day, the older brother offered me my fantasy sound system for my beloved-though-stereo-less 1981 Chevy Citation (ooh I loved that car).
That afternoon, T and I talked about how annoying it was that we had to act like grownups when we shouldn’t have needed to deal with this kind of behavior from our “loving shepherds.” We were just barely becoming women and we were already exhausted, ha.
The next meeting, we gave the gifts back, making it clear that we saw them as father-figures, not as potential marriage mates, and that anything more than a shepherd/sheep relationship was out of the question as we did so.
T had the idea to tell them we planned on following the example mentioned by the apostle Paul regarding singleness so we could better serve. The little genius; they were out pious-ed.

I don´t know about that country, but Belgium and The Netherlands have tax scales. Highest percentage of tax is applied on the top level of the salary (e.g. all above €60k you pay 42% of tax (not actual numbers)). If she was up for a raise already and taking this tax system in mind, she could probably say she made almost the same as before. Don´t forget the use of the word ´almost´, what is that to her? 90%, 80%, ...?
Without proper details, her statement can be very misleading

The way he dabs at the air with his finger everytime he speaks. Like he's trying to both control the flow of his own words and the reaction of the interviewees to his words.

What about all of the JWs that are forced to work multiple jobs or quit altogether to do their little witnessing routine? It's so stupid when any random decent thing occurs that it has to be MIRACULOUS. And what did they end up doing? Quitting their jobs anyway.

Hey, thanks mom and dad.. for putting us at risk..for watchtower. I’m actually shocked that they allowed this to be a part on this great show(🤣) it’s that line they like to use, ..pay back Caesar’s things to Caesar and gods things to god. .. it goes to show , that watchtower does not abide by the laws of the land. And that watchtower authority supersedes government laws. Because watchtower and god are one.

What do you expect of people, whose big hope is, when they die, to be physically resurrected, placed in a physical World (albeit, a "paradise"), where there's nothing to do, except sing praises to God (oops, "Jehovah"), forever and ever?
