Yeah its normal for a high tuned ea888 and thats exactly why it needs an oil cooler. Getting to 120°C after 2 high speeds pulls is bad. Imagine pulling a few times at lower speeds where cooling from wind isnt as much as on high speeds, his oil will probably run much hotter than 120°C then. I have the same engine and when i was stock and did high speed pulls my oil temp was staying around 100-105°C. So ur assumtion that "TSI" engines run that hot is wrong. Its true for highly tuned cars :)
@@ChromixEditI have a TDI engine with 122hp. (It is a caddy Mk5) when I am driving at high speed the highest I’ve had seen was around 115°. I was wondering if that was fine, it was around 27° outside.

120 is not that high for these engines, most of the track cars on the ring with the EA888 running around these temperatures and it is critical maybe at 130 and at 137 engine reduces power
Actually Golf MK8 R's have oil coolers and they are pretty sufficient in case you do not track the car for long periods. For the road accelerations like this, temperature should not rise to 120s like this. I checked my own acceleration videos from 100 to 280 and confirm that temperature rises from 93 to 106 at an ambient temperature of 6 degrees celcius. My car is stock btw. This car should be stage 2 (removed cat and opf's are clearly heard). Besides clutch slip is also obvious in my opinion.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but why does the car, even in sport mode, not rev all the way to 8000 RPM and instead shift at around 6000 or 7000? I have a Golf 7R myself, and it shifts at full RPM in sport mode.
I don't think there is any advantage revving to 8K as the TFSI is pretty much done after 6K down to it's relatively high compression and high pressure fuel injection. People joked the old EA113 was more like a diesel engine when VW introduced the technology in the mid 2000s.
