"it's easier making money cursing the darkness than lighting a candle" ... extremely insightful observation!

"Have Spacesuit Will Travel" yeah. Haven't read it in 50 years, but I still remember those tactile words about that damn tape starting to lose its stickiness, but the relief of completing the hike before the tape was completely worn out.

Wise guest! I’ve seen his posts on X and bought a copy of his book for my wife who reads a decent bit of sci-fi.

Fantastic chat, definitely will need to check out his book Theft of Fire, sounds like he is adding fresh ideas to modern scifi

The human mandate: "We have to know and we have to try." We lose that mandate that exercises our ability to take risks and be accountable, and we will surely die out.

So far, just an NLP for a database. Measuring Claude re: passing college courses is fine, but measure Claude against a 3 year old's ability to move and perception of reality. Moravec's Paradox. And geez, the copyright and ip violations in public LLM's. It's back to Devon's point about personal property. But hey, we will own nothing, including our ideas, and be happy.
