It was good to see you showing that Poland is a good country to see in a motorhome. I did it in 2021, in my converted 1996 Toyota Caetano Optimo 111 converted coach called MOBY-1, and I am a man of colour with dreadlocks down my back. I had a wonderful time and met good people that became my friends. Poland is a cleaner and much safer than the UK, and it has great cakes. 😊

I never ever watch van content even though i make it, so youtube never recommends anything like this but after watching your video where you guys go over the best accessories for your van (which i bought a lot of, the tefal pots and pans, stablable utensils etc etc) RUclips then decided to start recommending me your videos. Me and Dani have sat and watched the entire series and more and we absolutely love it. In terms of a family who travel together and make memories together the lot of you are an inspiration and i can only hope i have as good a relationship with my kids as you guys do.
oh and because of you, Dani wants me to call her "my love" all the time now haha.

Chris, I’m honestly made up to know you’ve watched some of our videos, let alone to enjoy them and leave such a lovely comment. I still watch a fair amount of van content and have been following your recent videos with the problems you’ve had with your new van. Pleased to see in your latest video that you can appreciate the extra space a Motorhome gives you, and that you do love it, despite the issues. Welcome to middle age life mate, and I did notice you call Dani ‘darling’, so maybe that’s a step in the right direction to calling here ‘my love’ 😉
Hopefully catch up at the show next week.

My father was Polish. He lost his entire family to the Germans and Russians. He escaped occupied Poland aged 17 and made his way on foot to allied territory, joined the RAF and fought until he was wounded (shot and lost a lung). My sister visited Auschwitz some years ago but I can’t bring myself to go. I even fast forwarded that section of your video The complete absence of one side of your family is far reaching. For example, I’m in my 60’s now but it still resonates when medics ask routine questions and I have to tell them I don’t know anything about the history of illnesses on my father’s side because no one survived.

Auschwitz is on my visit list when I travel Europe. My Dad's neighbour (Gold Coast, Australia) is Australian (late 50's) from Polish parents. His father was in the Polish army (high ranking) in WW2. Because of his refusal to follow Nazi orders, he and others were put on trains (cattle carriages) to Auschwitz. They managed to pull the floor boards up in the carriage and drop onto the rail tracks and escape. They fled across several countries to get to America and then West Australia. When the war was over he was able to contact his family, and by then had saved enough money to bring his wife and two daughters (who thought he was dead) to Australia. Here they had two more children. Raymond has spoken of some of the terrible things victims of war went through. We are just so lucky to have never experienced a fraction of what they went through. I remember seeing the bronze shoes along the banks of the Danube in Budapest and felt so sad to see where the Jews were shot and pushed into the river. I can't imagine what the Hungarians felt if they were the ones pulling the corpses from the water down river. A very dark time in modern history. Thank you for sharing your vlog. Kind regards, Stuart

One of your best vlogs. Having been to Auschwitz it’s a humbling experience and the way the guides work keeps the place solemn and somber. It’s heartbreaking to think this happened not so long ago. Congrats to Harry on his exams, I think George would have been fine with a headset as you’ve brought him up well along with Eddie and George and his summmary of the guide was spot on, You should be proud of all 3 of your boys. Love how Eddie took control back home as well. You should have gone to the Salt Mine in Krakow as well that’s pretty spectacular.

I am a citizen of the USA, your video about Auschwitz touched me. My father-in-law served in the US Army during the war. The unit he was with went into the death camps, not to liberate the survivors for at that time they had already been liberated, but they were there to document with photos the what they found inside the death camps, including the remains of those who sadly did not survive. The shock and horror of what he saw, stayed with him for the rest of life. For many years, he suffered from “night-terrors”, causing him to awaken from his sleep screaming from the images that haunted him in his sleep. In time the “night-terrors” subsided, but the memories remained.
Thank you for sharing what you were able to share.

Sorry to hear about Ed. Having lived in Turkey for 15 years I think that the health process here is superior here to NHS, I was just discharged today after an op. Booked an appointment on Thursday to see a specialist professor at a large university hospital in İzmir for the following Monday, you do not need to get a referral. All tests he needed, bloods, X-ray and scans were done that day with results available in a couple of hours. He said I needed urgent treatment so to come back that Friday morning for op. Paid just over £10 a day for private room and they always allow 1 family member to stay with patient and they feed both of you. There were also about 5 cafes and 2 coffee bars on the site so useful if you don't like hospital food. I did pay minor extra for professor to do op but if just standard doctor this is covered by health service.

I can tell you that the wife and I are driving down to Greece this winter the over all cost that we have budgeted for is about €2000 for three months. We went to Spain last year for 3 1/2 months and it was about €1500 all in. It's that simple, I'm not bothered what they do I would not want their van kids or life and I'm guessing they would not want mine, I was have just watched them over the months/years and thought they get through lots of money and was just interested what the extreme looks like and costs, Simple.

This time it was a touching watch full respect to you .I was in the Glasgow museum and on display was a pair of striped pyjamas . They spoke a million words .I wrote to the museum saying these very words .♥

    A different sort of video
    Just compelling and thought provoking.
No one can understand the magnitude of the terrible atrocities that took place during the 1930’s for the Jewish people.
I worked with a lady who grew up in Poland during the communist regime in the 1980’s and they had nothing
I worked with a lady from German side of Poland and we’re not short of anything

Spent 3ms in Wroclaw on business just after the wall came down, the city square was a wreck and rebuilding from 39-45 was just getting underway. They opened their first Macdonald whilst I was there. I also drove to Auschwitz/Birkenau that summer. It had been left untouched since 45. The cremator and chamber were still there then. It was horrifying seeing what man can do fellow man. It never leaves you.
Should add that apart from a Maccy D it was borscht, borscht and more borscht back then. Glad to see it’s moved on. Would love to visit if my Fiat can ever prove it doesn’t always mean Fix It Again Tomorrow 😂

Not only has it moved on it’s moved ahead of most of Europe and is leading the way in some aspects.

Another great vlog. We went to Krakow last year it was lovely. We flew over because we weren’t sure about parking in Poland as there doesn’t seem to be many vlogs on youtube. I don’t know if you remember but I did ask you in a comment if you had been but you said you hadn’t been that far west. We will defo take the Moho next time. 👌

Agree the best overnight parking at Auschwitz is at the hotel, should have used that instead of the other one you showed. Invest in a tea strainer for any water poured down the kitchen sink drain out of the washing up bowl, definitely helps the grey tank stay fresher.

I agree with you comments about visiting concentration camp,I was on Avalon river cruise in April this year we visited the
Concentration camp in Linz Austria, it was very moving, we were told that Hitler lived in Linz in his early days

Of course you could not find any words. There are no words that do justice to what happen in those camps. I think the reason you go is to pay your respects to those that perished.

Hi Guys. We have done Mathousen which is just outside of Linz in Austria and yes you are right, it is difficult to find the words. I think it is important to visit these places to remember and remind people of the horrors that man can do to his neighbours. Unfortunately with the stuff that is going on in the world today it is also so upsetting. Will we ever learn. Regards John

JFK famously said I am a Berliner, unfortunately he call himself a donut. My daughter did a 6th form trip to Berlin where they visited the Starzi prision before going on to Auschwitz, it was a thought provoking experience.

Look after yourself mum! It’s so easy to focus on your children & forget your needs too.
Auschwitz & Birkenau are so harrowing but everyone needs to understand them. The room of hair brought it all home for me!
    Thankyou for sharing your experiences.
We loved Poland, especially Wroclaw & even the off the main highway roads! Such a contrast to the main Toll roads with limited exits etc.
We got to the Great Escape site - but it was closed!! Drr us, we walked around though, took it all in & stayed nearby in a great free van site!
Yes - we agree, we need to go back to Poland at a slower pace! Long way from Australia though!
    😊

Special guest must be Eddie. To my amazement my husband had never seen The Great Escape (before we were married) although he wanted to. So when it was on tv we settled down to watch. Steve McQueen was literally in mid leap over the fence when the television died. The air was blue as you can imagine. He did eventually manage to watch the whole film some years later. Auschwitz is one of those visits that must be made, lest we forget 💔✡️
