I didn't realise Toronto area was flat as a pancake! no hills/mountains!! Great weather and location for boating. You found where everyone was on Canada day!
Yes. Hanlan's beach was packed and a ton of boats everywhere. We found where people partied on Canada Day even during Covid. We will return for sure next year!
Ha ha. I heard them laughing on the boat so I knew they were not injured. So my next concern as that they were sitting on a floating tube. If it was burnt and leaking I was going to have to drop the camera fast and start pulling them in. I guess you could tell I was not fully on board with this idea. But Jake and Janice really wanted to do it. He is 26 so I really had no vote in this. On a dingy far from my boat seemed like the least risky option compared to firing off from my deck, which was their first thought. Nope!!!
WOW! Great video! What a beautiful skyline in Toronto! I had no idea is was so colourful at night (from the water). God love Janice for the awesome fireworks. They were great!!!
Yes. Out in the dark of the water we see shooting stars all the time. Some nights in remote anchorages we just sit on the bow in our folding padded chairs and stare up at the sky and count how many we see. When I did the 2 transAtlantic crossings it is so dark you can really see the stars brightly as there is no city light pollution or smog. Crazy how many stars you can see out there!
lol, as a citizen of 'murica all I can think while watching that is "those are the fireworks you give to the kids while you get to play with the good stuff" lol
Yes. Janice bought them without telling me what her plan was. They were certainly kiddie fireworks with only 1 or 2 that packed a decent bang. But they did make us laugh at least.
Yes. Colder than I expected. Luckily we did this trip in a heat wave so after a couple of weeks the water got warm enough that even I swam. Janice will swim in any temperature. Polar Bear Blood!
another awesome video! looking forward to starting out cruising. question about your electric troller. how do you manage that? and what size is it? we have a mere 9.9, its a 2 stroke, not very environmentally friendly,, I could be talked into electric.
Thanks Mike! Our trolling motor is pretty basic and was just a Trolling motor that pushes along small aluminum fishing boats small distances. It is not nearly fast enough and doesn't have a good range. It was perfect for the Ottawa River when we only needed something to go 50-75 yards to go from our boat to shore. Now that we are in the 1000 islands we want to be able to have the range to go exploring so we bought a 6hp gas outboard a couple years back. It was not on this trip because I made the mistake of not running it dry the season before so it wouldn't start and needs a good carb cleaning. There are high end electric outboards out there that probably do have much better speed and range than what we have but they are quite expensive. You also need to make sure that your boat has more than enough solar power to cover your boat's use and have left over capacity to charge the lithium ion batteries of these high end outboards or you are soon going to run out of juice at the worst possible time.
Looks a bit like Auckland, except there isn't volcanoes wherever you look :-) Or looks a little like Sydney harbour but without the coat hanger or Opera house.
Toronto doesn't have a lot industrial stuff in the harbor any more they are replacing it all with condos on the water front. Both sides of the city have great beaches both the eastern and western beaches
Also the city is redoing the mouth of the Don River over on the eastern gap side it will be an amazing place once it is finished I miss my home town . ......
Ya. We mention that in the next episode when we come back with Jake's friends. On the return trip we hit Toronto again and we go on a bike ride on the island and I walked onto the beach. I Got an eye full of a bunch of bodies I really didn't want to see. It is not the type place I would pull out a camera and start filming. Yeesh.
Beautiful.
WoW !!! What an amazing view from the water! It is definitely spectacular!!!
It really is!

"Did it burn the dinghy?" Spoken like a concerned parent and boat owner! :)

Couldn’t help but notice the shooting star, top of screen right before the Happy Canada Day. 21:27. 👍

Think we saw Off Duty on one of our dinghy rides.
Very possible. You ever see us, say hi!
Good video
Thanks VX
Lake Ontario is always so cold, even later in the summer. Only the shallowest spots like Sandbanks PP get warm...

One day I hope to see those places. Australia is a bucket list place for us to visit, for sure!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks. Glad you liked it.

I’ve lost a anchor around there:(
Ya. Lots of old chains and mooring ball debris down there. If it was any deeper I wouldn’t have been able to save the anchor.
How do you mention Hanlon's Point without saying it's a nude beach?

This video didn't show up on my subscription feed. Kinda weird.
That is strange. RUclips is weird in how they promote certain videos and not others.
