Sad but true.....I was never a Nazareth fan but for the classic album HOTD. Now at 52 I'm listening to Nazareths full catalogue and all I can say is "better late to the party then Never!"
I agree with you there, I have loved the song Love Hurts for years. Now and then I would watch it on youtube, always played it over and over and never once did I think of finding out their other songs. Finally did about 2 mths ago and now a huge fan.

love Nazareth..I'm from Ayr scotland and followed them since the 70's!! good god, seen them more than any other band that played the old Apollo and elsewhere ..I've always said this, the ONLY band whose cover versions of other great songs were always better than the originals!! and they were!! as for "guns and roses''' fans.... close your eyes and listen to their favourite uncles!! happy 2017 everyone, Rock on!

Strange as it may sound, but they were very popular in the USSR 40 years ago, having been shown on tv not even once, same on the radio, nobody could get a word, their LPs used to be brought by sailors and sold at the rate of one third of an engineer s salary. They were like a window to a real wonderland.

JMH3, On the earlier albums, yes. He is the best sounding slide guitarist I've ever heard, great feel for it, perfect for Nazareth.
Spare a thought for Johnny winter the true king.
Manny is a great musician but he is not the "" King of slide "" It can take half a life time to learn slide , and most slide songs are played with special open chord guitar tuning that is different form the regular international standard "" Spanish "" tuning , of which any song can be played . This slide piece of his is great and i love it , but i can learn it in a week . In my opinion it is Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top that created the greatest slide piece of all time , which is played in standard international guitar tuning , and is what makes the song "" Tush "" an icon of immortality !!! Tush ?? ZZ top ?? for me , its been at least 6 years for me to play that song properly , and it is so complicated , that it has to played all the time .

You don't actually have to write the word period for crying out loud. A 'period' is a full stop so when you add your full stop (period) at the end of a sentence that's it, the end of the sentence.
I regret I only have one 👍 to give to this comment. I saw them live in 74 at the old Ottawa Civic Centre, and it still ranks as one of the best shows I've ever seen. Out-friggin'-standing band, no two ways about it! ♥️

Somehow I got a compact cassette with this song but didn't know, what band had recorded this cover. Then in summer 1975 - in a public city bath - I heard this song coming from some guys listening to their cassette recorder. So I got to know that this was a Nazareth song and made new friends for the whole summer. It was a great time.
Tell me why...this excellent rendition hasn't been tapped for 'The Punisher' series yet.
This song could be on many American westerns, especially the revenge segments, riding to exact their revenge, and maybe even in the carrying out if it. For me, thank God He says Vengeance is Mine, I will repay. Avoids a whole lot of senseless actions.
Need to get new vinyl, the high slide guitar parts are almost gone, which is the best part of the song for me. High loud slide guitar rules ! 🙂

Damn good track from a damn good lp, Razamanaz. This is the first of a trilogy of sorts, at least from a production level. Roger Glover ( Deep Purple) would produce Loud and Proud, and lastly, Rampant. Three albums that rock. My story.

You are so right about Rampant, my favorite of all the Nazareth albums. Jet Lag is my favorite Naz song.
And, their 3 best albums. Jet Lag, while not in my favorite Nazareth songs, has one of my top guitar breaks in all of rock history. And while I have never been a fan of Rock Around the Clock by Bill Halley and the Comets, the bit they play from it, at the end of Razamanaz, and somewhere in Teenage Nervous Breakdown, is one of the best sounding guitar breaks that I've ever heard. Manny Charlton was one of the best ever guitarists, his feel for the instrument was impressive and on slide guitar, none had a better sound. Much like Francis Rossi of Status Quo, loud and the most melodic hard rock, because it was shuffle boogie, guitarist, "God" said so. No, not God, but the imposter, Eric Clapton (whaddaya want me to say, there's only one God), not his fault he was called that, his playing on Spoonful mesmerized me, way back when.

Seen them when they came to Anchorage Alaska in 1984.
I saw them play the first half of the song in the acoustic part. I was more than bummed out. When I saw them sitting in them chairs, I knew the gig was....going down the wrong way, I knew I wasn't going to hear the electric version. That was the sad part of a really good night. The electric set was great.

Wow !!! I have been so focused on Love Hurts these past 50 years I never heard this. What a voice and what feeling Dan puts into his music. Love this !! And let's not forget the rest of the band.
