    Such a great aspect to 1946 that there are so many cool aircraft available. I wish the developers would re-release a update to bring 46 up to BOS BOK level of graphics flight models etc.

      I don't think much more can be done with the graphics. It certainly is greatly improved. But the best thing about '46 is the gameplay

    Wow! This Turboprop version looks much better than the standard Me-262's! :-)

    Something along similar lines, and yet, none of those who are fans of Luft 46 and whif forums is a single engine fighter, such as the FW190D or the TA152 with the same DB021 this 262 has a pair of. . I've been building a 190D with the 021 in 1/32 scale. Not sure about the history I'll have to generate(have to keep this theoretically plausible, so no fancy scifi mods and the like). Not even sure if it'd have an interceptor mission, point defense(which actually wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, as such a fighter would have to have the ability to go really fast from a near standing start, like fighters like some of the early MiG jets, including the MiG 21), a strike fighter, such as the Westland Wyvern, or even an attack role as witnessed by the Piper Enforcer, which was a modified P51 with turboprop. Still, it does offer some tantalizing possibilities.

    Damn, the props are definitely a visual improvement on the 262.

  • @onecheman
    @onecheman 7 лет назад +16

    Certainly this 262 will have less problems with acceleration while landing, when the p51s and 47s came to visit em

    • @mwmaxwgreen
      @mwmaxwgreen 6 лет назад +7

      Yes, as well as better fuel economy, which is also an important factor, given that the twin turbojets were, like all 1st or 2nd generation jet engines, were quite thirsty.And, I'm wondering something else.If the JUMO 004 and the BMW 003 were limited in operational life, average TBO being something like ten hours. If your not familiar the term, it means Time Between Overhauls.Right now, in the aviation industry, there is a move away from alloy turbine blades to ceramic, which are manufactured by old methods(casting and cooking). Might there have been a chance that one of the engineers at Junkers or other jet engine manufacturers, stumbled upon ceramics as a possible turbine blade material, and had soon after begun producing blades for all extant turbine engine designs? A 262 that could fly for as long as the fuel it carried lasted? A medium range He162? This is something to consider.

      Also less problems deceleraring, since a windmilling prop acts like an airbrake

      drop the folder in waw and then go to STD folder com, open each folder till you come to the air file then open and all your aircraft are listed here, now add the lines in the 262TFP folder like under the 262 section in the german pit add , Me-262A-V1 air.ME_262AV1 2 g01 SUMMER

    Dam well thought out Sir,
    but if you look at it from a different angle like I did and have, a 262 with the following:
    Drop tanks,
    After Burners,
    Speed brakes,
    Movable tail planes.
    try that......

  • @mwmaxwgreen

    You could have used a PT6, Allison 250, Kuznetsovs or any other turboprop for sound effect. Those engines sound like JT8Ds in dire need of some walnut shell.

    Na ja, was soll das bringen, da würde ich doch ein reines Strahltriebwerk vorziehen! Mehr Zeug dran,kann auch mehr Kaputt gehen. Technisch gesehen wäre ein Nachbrenner gut.

    Too much straight line flight, in-out, in-out. Can the Me262 B2 dogfight or do torque turns? Didn't see much of that here. Energy state fighting is so inefficient against other fighters.

    • @KylleinMacKellerann
      @KylleinMacKellerann 7 лет назад +7

      They had designs but lacked the materials to make a reliable jet engine, and since turbo-props use a second set of turbines past the power turbines to generate take-off power (for the props, not the flight) they never achieved reality. All things considered, using those early jets to power props made more sense than using them as pure reaction engines.

    • @JohnDoe-ee6qs
      @JohnDoe-ee6qs 6 лет назад +4

      NiumeLT they invented them and there were many types built before the and of the war and countless others on the drawing board, but as far as I know these were never put into airframes as the war ended before this could happen.

    • @__dINe__
      @__dINe__ 5 лет назад

      true, but much much less than the jumo 004, that was the big change.

    • @vumba1331
      @vumba1331 4 года назад +1

      The Jugs were not known for being frugal, they really guzzled top grade avgas whereas these would theoretically run on diesel or kerosene, much cheaper and more readily available. The Jugs also consumed huge amounts of oil so their flight times were at times limited.
