Замечательный музыкант. Я не была в Америке и увидела игру Тома на ютубе случайно. Потом перевела, как смогла, информацию о Томе, от всей души желаю ему поправиться и вернуться к нормальной жизни насколько это возможно
It was a damn shame what happened to Tom. If he'd gotten the physical therapy he'd needed right after his accident instead of being neglected, he might've already started playing like this again.
What's up with the plastic wrap(?) on the piano? I work for a piano dealer and we've rented many pianos to outdoor events and never needed to treat any of them. Tom is excellent as always.
This piano is on an outdoor stage under a tent at the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, Missouri. I believe the local piano dealer rented the instrument so only they could say for sure what is up with that. But it is some very flat thin foam padding which is taped around the leg. Possibly the movers forgot to take it off in their haste unloading the instrument on the stage.
The left hand is a nightmare in this piece if you want to play it at a fun tempo. The jumps themselves aren't that hard but keeping up the rhythm for the entire piece is exhausting, one needs to be 100% relaxed and also confident in the notes to make it work.
I think he’s still on the journey to recovering he got in a bad car accident when he crashed head on to another car and he got a severe brain trauma where he was in a rehab facility where he had to learn to walk and speak when the family didn’t know the people there didn’t teach him anything as they wanted to “silence him”

You can learn performances by ear if you do enough ear-training. You can even take courses in ear training and interval training. You may need to play it back multiple times to get it. I have learned entire complicated rags from 100 year old recordings by playing the recording back enough times (also slowed down; there is software such as "The Amazing SlowDowner" and "Transcribe!" which helps you do this).
