Its awesome u mentioned that you took your G.E.D at the Old Fairgrounds, I took a Culinary Course there in the early 90's during High school...I worked in the Cafeteria there...It was for the R.O.P program I got H.S. credits for wrking there an got a Certificate to cook in any commercial kitchen...After that iwent to LeaderWolfes right on Stockton an Broadway for a semester...My father an I use to go Quail an Pheasant hunting in College City...LemonHill dude that is like around the corner from where I grew up..that was a rough hood to buy a house in the 80's an 90's.That trailer park was it by FlorinPerkins/Gerber...
Some of my fondest memories are up around the Willows an Brownsville Area
@@kenkelley9513 You’re right lemon Hill was a pretty rough area but my dad had it well in hand. You mentioned quail and pheasant hunting, you probably hunted near my house or where my house used to be rather. It was down near the canal on Tulie Road. Yes I believe the trailer park was around Florin Perkins.
Wasnt Tule Rd by the town Of Arnold an Arbuckle an that Canal had some big Perch an Catfish in it...Small world my friend...
wow this is cool
Thank you, live here in Sacramento. I love seeing these glimpses of our local history and even more when others appreciate it as well. Thank you for watching.
@@OfficeofImageArchaeology same i love seeing how it used to look thank u big time
As a boy I worked for the Green Sheet newspaper and at the end of the day our boss would take us to the go-cart track at Cal-Expo as a reward. Must've been circa 67, 68.
5:09 that house is still there 32nd/X and looking pretty good.
That's the wigwam burner at Pacific Lumber Co., Scotia, Calif. That's the Eel River adjacent to the plant.
Thank you MrShobar, I knew someone would recognize it. Thank you for watching.
i've been trying to remember where I'd seen that for probably 55 years now. None of my family could remember it. Thanks for finally clearing up the mystery!
Nice
The ride (at ~3:00) was called the Round Up.
It was also called the Tilt A Whirl.
Hi George. I have vague memories of these old fairgrounds. On Any Sunday has footage of the place too, especially the race track. Thanks much!
Your welcome thanks for stopping buy.
George, this was a great video and I enjoyed your narration throughout the video. I hope the family comes forward or someone who knows who they are. If so you should do a follow-up video.
Hey bud it’s good to hear from you again, how are you? Yes you’re right it would be nice to hear from that family.
@@OfficeofImageArchaeology I'm doing good, just posted my 5 years on RUclips video. Other than that I'm Blessed.
@13:50 I belive that's the delta king that is still parked at the end of old sac and it's now a bar/restaurant and hotel.
Yup race track and lake in the middle
I wish I could experience does time…
Just one year before I was born. I am so thankful that my time on this earth is almost done. I am sorry for those that I leave behind because they will never truly know America as it was intended and the freedom I grew up with. Thank you for watching.
@@OfficeofImageArchaeology thank you for sharing beautiful I am 20 long road ahead wish me luck
@@Airborne_Art God Bless and good luck. This channel is a tribute to the America I grew up in. Take a good look and share it with others. There are few your age that really care about our history unless it’s to burn it down.
I believe that the later Moto shots look like the old Plymouth track, there are to many trees for McGills.
Where did you get this video?
We used to ride our minibikes from lake natoma to downtown along the river, you could even shoot guns down there. We used to camp down there when we were kids. I hated when they put the bike trail in. There were motorcycle hill climbs and boat drags out there too. Safer than the hobo highway it is now..
the clock tower is old Sac High!
8:13 possibly a log skid or excavation for a new bridge.
That boat is too small to be the Delta King, it docks at Front St, Sacramento. As a young man I worked as a prep cook for dinner and one night I decided I didn't like the way my boss was treating me so I quit but I couldn't exactly go home yet as the big paddle boat was only halfway through its cruise so I went up top where we took our smoking breaks and enjoyed the ride till it docked.
The steep hill was a widow maker hill climb for motorcycle.
My sister married to a Steve Snyder
Nice old video. I believe the paddle wheeler is the Putah aka spirit of Sacramento. Here’s a link to some information www.calexplornia.com/spirit-sacramento-abandoned-riverboat-fascinating-tale/
Hmmm to say I’m impressed would be an understatement. It sounds to me like you may love history about much as I do and probably know more about it. One things for sure you have an eye for detail. I can be reached at officeofimagearchaeology@yahoo!.com. We might have something to talk about. Thank you again for your help.
@@OfficeofImageArchaeology @George Mihal well did some more research...I was wrong, or this could count a a "we where both right" apparently the "Spirit of Sacramento" and the "Mansion Belle" seen in this film. are one in the same boat.
it was rebuilt form the hull up at some point and re-christened in the 1990's. hence the differences in appearance observed. and they do look entirely different.
Yeah well that an all black neighborhood now.
