This singer is quite amaizing. The range of voices he can pull off just surprises me. This is one of the hardest rock song range wise and he just hit the highest note. Great to see talent put to God's glory in such a creative way.
The investment singer "J" and these musicians have made in promoting Christ and teaching the Bible cost them "fame" down here; even Christian radio stations wont play them. But their eternal "R. O. I." will be stupendous and the Angels are cheering on both Apologetix and those saved, who love music and realize that Christians can HAVE FUN and PERFORM WELL TOO; just as I found during my backpacking, "Rocky Mountain High - John Denver days that somehow they not only appreciated nature as I'd been told they did not by media, but were engaged in an activity even I was scared of,as an unbeliever!
I was fortunate to see them in concert twice! I joined them on stage with a few other audience members to sing the back up parts to one of their songs!
Amen. Mark, you turned me onto these guys from your web site video several years ago. Imagine bumping into you ... here! 3 wks apart. (Nice vid Elenor;-)
Excellent! Yes I do have this Apologetix restoration (of a rocking but less-than-complete song from "my era)" on my phone, from iTunes: but so glad I tuned in your video-with-lyrics version tonight, to make sure I had understood all the (inspired) new words. And, I was further blessed once I did, by the initial image of a circular rainbow: because, I'm ready to put my own testimony on RUclips, and quit just pimping myself in vids of me fixing vacuums and blowers etc on RUclips, excited over eternally meaningless views, without ever promoting MY BOSS and Brother Jesus... You see, my testimony involves being invited, by Baptist Santa Barbara youth rock climbers, just after Mt St Helens, to accept Christ, (yes, actually ON A MOUNTAINTOP)(At Yosemite Ntnl. Park)... And, my walk down, with them, involved being baptized with the spray from an incredible waterfall -- and seeing circular rainbows in the mist. Only foreshadowing the one I will see around my savior. (Only "officially" baptized later). I'm uplifted! Liking & following, Thanks!
They must use the term "Parody", I think, for copyright law to protect them. But the Gospek is "foolishness" to the world, so I'm sure the authorities are happy to label it parody! But you are so correct. Let's keep this a secret between you and me, Pastor slw!
I gotta be honest...for years now I've hated, hated, hated most christian music. Like so much so I sometimes take it upon myself as a personal quest to rid christianity of the status quo of sappy hillsong music and the hallmark card mentality that goes with it. The Lord found me outside of church culture, hurray for that! But then as I got involved in church culture it has been one dissapointment after another. Can't find a wife, couldn't find musicians and good grief the worship music. Hillsong and Jesus culture everywhere! I can't flipping stand it anymore. I actually left a church over that recently. I still love those people and hold them dear but I just can't get over the music and lack of people that really share my cultural interests. And usually when christians do this kind of formulla, taking a classic and pasting lyrics over it, it's just downright insulting and bad. However...maybe it's just the moment but somehow I kinda appreciate this one. Somehow it doesn't insist on beeing better but it feels more like a respectfull tribute to the original (again could just be the moment) Heck the vocals may be off a little bit and stuff, but it's honest. "my faith has faded from years running wild" That is so true to life, the longer I struggle with the reality that there is a God out there, the harder it becomes to believe. Times passes and bitterness sets in, oftentimes I shake my fist at Him. Life is harsh and it takes it toll. But then every once in a while, He does something that makes me smile again. And those moments ...make it more then a feeling.
Tuttermuts I think that I can understand where you are coming from. The Lord found me outside of the church as well, several years ago; although I've been part of a church for a while now. I always felt different than everyone else because of that. But, everyone has their own story. For a long time I thought that Christian music only consisted of hymns in the church. But, I came to find out that there are a lot of different kinds of Christian music, if you look for it. A lot of the music I like isn't even on the radio or played in church, but on the Internet like RUclips or online radio stations. Although I appreciate any music that glorifies God, there has always been a certain style of music that I've preferred (basically rock). The way I see it is Christians come from all different sorts of backgrounds and have different interests, and sometimes it's hard to find some that are similar to yourself. But, I think the main thing is faith. Just lean on Him and be prayerful about your needs. It's all in His timing. "Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you" Matthew 6:33. God bless :)
Tuttermuts You have put what I've felt for years into words! Don't get me wrong, I've heard plenty of good Christian songs (and my church plays these usually) but some songs I hear on the radio feel a little too forced and it just gives me this... I don't know... "uncomfortable" feeling. However, these guys are pretty good.
When all else fails, look to Jesus. He is the one who is called Faithful and True. All else, organizations and individuals, fall short. But He is true. Praying that your message of 3 years ago has amended for the better.
Tuttermuts and the others who commented to your comment. First, I am a Christian. I was born again in 1984 at the age of 18. Prior to that, I loved Rock n Roll. Led Zeppelin being my fav. When I was born again, everything changed. I couldn't stand that music anymore because it is Satan's music. As a born again believer, what would I have to do with that? I also didn't like the "Christian" bands that tried to emulate those demonic rock n roll songs. I have spoke to many a Christian who seem to pine away for the good ole days of listening to music aimed at glorifying Satan and flesh like it is good. Wow. Folks, those songs are demonic, and are tools from Satan to hinder your walk with Christ. On the other hand, WORSHIP music is uniquely God's. This is what will be sung in Heaven so you had better get used to it. Trust me, there will be no Rock N Roll in Heaven. That is the Devil's music. Worship music is God's music. If that music bothers you, you need to check your soul to see if you are really born again. If you were born again, you would find that your old ways would have died and you would be given new ways. These ways are God's ways. Our reason for being is to worship God. If you are still looking for entertainment in music, than you need a stronger revelation of who the Lord is. We are not to be led about by our fleshly desires, but instead to be led about by our Spiritual desires through the Holy Spirit. If music is driven by the sound and not the message, than you are not right with God. The words in the song is key. The only reason I like this is because of the new words given to it. Otherwise it would disturb my soul as it is not of God. My flesh still loves that style of music however, and I have to keep that under wraps because if I followed what my flesh wants, I would be a most horrible Christian. All Christians will spend eternity in Heaven WORSHIPING GOD. It is what we do.
I would encourage you that there are many bands out there that can hang with the best *cultural* music influences, who are devoted Christians and permeate their songs with meaningful and intelligent thought-provoking and faith challenging lyrics.
Most of the songs by this group are good ideas, but poorly executed. I still kind of like them for what they are, but they pale in comparison to the original. This however, is an exception. This sounds fantastic!
I'm so very honored to call this fantastic band my friends and yes I did meet this fantastic band. ❤❤❤❤❤
best christian parody group i've ever heard..
Dittos to the Apologetix for knocking this one out of the ball park, to the Lord be the Glory.
There is nothing i love more than seeing something secular redeemed and turned to His glory! Praise the Lord!!
Thank you, Danky Bowlpacker for recommending this. Its' good and God is so GREAT!
I love this song! I'm so happy to see that you put the words to it so others that don't know it can SING along! THANK YOU KING JESUS!!!!

More than a parody , a modern or contemporary Psalm ..
Hooked up had a different meaning back in the day . nothing to do with being gay ..
I'm not sure "parody" is the right word. A "new birth" of an old tune perhaps...
