      Not as brutal as 800m. That distance is pure suffering! But any distance is brutal really, but 800m takes the prize brutal wise.

      I think we're witnessing a phenomenal age of running. So many athletes are so fast and I think it's because they're all pushing each other to their limits. I wouldn't call doping on this unless there is definitive proof. There is so much testing done and these athletes know that. To put everything on the line for a slight edge is absolutely insane. Very few people would do that.

      had barega followed the tactik given aregawi would have sprinted to gold...i can see they were told to sped the race leading alternately to get the ugandan tired but barega failed the team...aregawi sprinted at the last time as was planned...had barega fulfilled his given job the result would have been different...now i read in social media circulated by him that he was suffering a bloody foot which i dout..cause before the race he was showing his dicontent...so wasnt aregawis fault..by the way the same tactik was used to beat mo farah...was beautifully excuted by all the runners at that time....hope ethiopian federation never select barega in the future...otherwise was a beautiful race..congrats to chipgoei...i am happy gold is in african hand,,as an african i am happy for mama africa

    For anyone struggling to appreciate what is being shown here, these guys are running at a pace equivalent to that of a full sprint of an average healthy 25 year old male. And they're doing it for 26 minutes straight, for 10km...

      A healthy 25 year old should be faster at a full sprint. But yes their speeds are ridiculous nevertheless.

      Imagine running a 13min 5k, very few people can do that, it's insanely fast. You would be feeling dead after that performance. Most of these guys just did that back to back. They make it look so easy too

      for real, I don't think many people casually watching olympics understand how INSANE that time is. An average person (not out of shape, working out 1-2 times a week) would finish 5k in that time frame

    As a Dutchman, i know we can own the sprints and relays (Femke Bol) but this..? This is a entire discipline on it's own... Respect
    No surprise there's the Ethiopians, Kenyans etc and i do NOT mean this in a negative way, this is just YOUR sport, well done all !!
