Likewise, if my kid took a hammer and smashed an item that belonged to someone else, there would be severe consequences. I do not believe in corporal punishment and never laid a hand on my kids, but they were taught to respect other people and their property. It's almost unbelievable to me that defendant would laugh and say "They got you too?" when he heard that a neighbor's house was egged. Horrible. And his wife sounds worse. Why wasn't she there? The problem is the plaintiff has no proof of that. It’s possible the friend lives nearby and brought his own eggs. The plaintiff should try to sort it out with the friend’s parents since there is at least some evidence that that child did it
I did not agree with the outcome of this case. What about the fish tank? Why didn't she order the defendant to pay for a 100 gallon fish tank that his kid is on video smashing? There should have also been monetary consequences for the dog pooping in his yard. I personally would call CPS to do a welfare check on the children....more than anything else.

I feel this plantiff. Our previous neighbor's were the bane of the neighborhood. The house was owned by the grandma and when it was just her, everything was great. Once her kids and their kids moved in, it was a nightmare. One person lived in a car on her property, they had animals they never cared for and animal control was called multiple times, the police were called multiple times (not by us), one of their kids was acting out all the time, the parents would often yell outside the house and scream and curse at each other, there were multiple times the police would knock on our door thinking our house number was theirs and other times cops would park on our property to watch the in's and out's of that family. For such a peaceful area they sure created a lot of tension.

If a parent fails to properly supervise a child, and that child then commits a malicious act, then yes, the parent could be held responsible, however, we have to keep in mind that “supervision” differs depending on the age of the child. A 12 year old playing outside alone who throws a rock and damages a neighbor’s car is more likely to be held personally accountable than a 5 year old who was playing outside alone, and damages a neighbors car, because it is expected that a child that young would be under direct parental supervision. If your 5 year old is out by themselves, and you’re nowhere in sight, you are failing to supervise them properly, and would therefore be liable for their actions.

It shouldn't matter if it wasn't the neighbors kid who egged the house. The "friend" got the egg from their house. And the parents are responsible for their children & their children's friends when the minor is your care. So the neighbor or the kids parent should be held responsible. But really it should be the neighbor who wasn't keeping an eye on the kids, especially knowing there were additional kids over to monitor.

I had neighbors like that years ago. Never really caused us problems but it was just a zoo. 5 kids plus every kid in the neighborhood. They built a bmx track in their tiny back yard. They’d make little bombs out of coke bottles. I remember a couple kids getting hurt pretty bad.

I just did the math, and if he had 9 children without overlap(impregnating two women at the same time), then he could have 9 children in 7.5 years if he impregnated a mother every 10 months. The father can be the most responsible person ever in terms of providing for his kids. That being said, there is NO way 1. that he can spend quality time with them 2. and even for himself. Not counting the food itself, clothes alone... And what about school materials, toys, medical plans.... And that´s not counting housing, water, electricity, phones...

When I was a kid, if my parents didn't like the neighbor, I didn't like the neighbor, I as a child had no discernment. These kids are misbehaving and the parents are 100% responsible. I would sell my house and move. If that's not possible, then I would build a very large fence and enjoy my house INDOORS, no enjoyment outside whatsoever. It is what it is.

Not true. It depends on the age/awareness of wrongdoing and situation. There have been many cases on this channel alone where that kid was responsible and had a ruling against them.
That depends on whether or not there has been negligent supervision. If a parent fails to properly supervise a child, and that child then commits a malicious act, then yes, the parent could be held responsible, however, we have to keep in mind that “supervision” differs depending on the age of the child. A 12 year old playing outside alone who throws a rock and damages a neighbor’s car is more likely to be held personally accountable than a 5 year old who was playing outside alone, and damages a neighbors car, because it is expected that a child that young would be under direct parental supervision. If your 5 year old is out by themselves, and you’re nowhere in sight, you are failing to supervise them properly, and would therefore be liable for their actions.
Teenagers can have judgements against them as judgements can last 10 years but small children can't be held liable

It shouldn't matter if it wasn't the neighbors kid who egged the house. The "friend" got the egg from their house. And the parents are responsible for their children & their children's friends when the minor is your care. So the neighbor or the kids parent should be held responsible. But really it should be the neighbor who wasn't keeping an eye on the kids, especially knowing there were additional kids over to monitor.

I had neighbors like that years ago. Never really caused us problems but it was just a zoo. 5 kids plus every kid in the neighborhood. They built a bmx track in their tiny back yard. They’d make little bombs out of coke bottles. I remember a couple kids getting hurt pretty bad.

Hold on a minute here... This man said he has 9 children. Yet he said that the ages range from 3 to 10. I just did the math, and if he had 9 children without overlap(impregnating two women at the same time), then he could have 9 children in 7.5 years if he impregnated a mother every 10 months. When I was a kid, if my parents didn't like the neighbor, I didn't like the neighbor, I as a child had no discernment. These kids are misbehaving and the parents are 100% responsible. I would sell my house and move. If that's not possible, then I would build a very large fence and enjoy my house INDOORS, no enjoyment outside whatsoever. It is what it is.

They tried to paint the plaintiff out to just being a grumpy neighbor, but I see this as being the complete opposite, he’s had his aquarium smashed, car damaged and his house egged. As far as the egging goes, I find it really hard to believe that the defendants child sat and just watched his friend egg not only his house but the plaintiffs house as well. The plaintiff definitely was justified on being angry if so.
