Class A driver here....Even once you upgrade from a B to an A you'll still need to take an A road test with the 53ft trailer PLUS a pre-trip in-cab inspection air brake test.
What about restrictions? I tested in a manual and got my class B 20 years ago. Now that I am upgrading to a class A, will I be grandfathered in? I didn't have a manual to test in so the examiner did not mark manual on my examination certificate. Will they add this restriction because I didn't test in a manual truck, even though I've been jamming gears for 20 years? Thanks. Kansas driver
I dont no how they do things in Kansas I'm from New York city but if you dont take your road test in a manual then you will have that restriction. YOU MUST TAKE YOUR CLASS A ROAD TEST IN A MANUAL. theres no grandfathered in .
whats good Bro, if possible can you do a in cab pre trip in the bus. i just passed everything with NJ Transit and thought this could be useful content, peace out my Brother
So bro I got a CDL B... so to upgrade to A I just need combination endorsements? What about the road test would I haft to complete a road test in a Class A vehicle? Or one I complete the combination test I'll automatically be upgraded to a Class A?

You will need the combination endorsement & you will have to take your road test in a class A vehicle trailer
@cdlced thanks I appreciate it. Haft to find someone to teach me the road test. Definitely didn't know it was that simple
I think you will have to find a trucking school to help you out with the road test. @@Hellcatblk_
@@Hellcatblk_you could have to seat in a class again and pay the related fee. Please double check about the class and fee.
Yea you would need to complete a Class A roadtest with a 53foot trailer and in cab air brake inspection
