If I guessed it would be to clean up the aero on the front wing and make it more efficient (which they kind of allude to), and also opens up the space a little between the wing and the suspension to allow that to be better used further back in the car.
Barry M is it? Strange tactic from them because they never actually mention it is a part of a bigger more elaborate segment. But it would make sense based on the content of just this part.
As far as i remember it was Benneton back in 94 that actually started to look like a modern F1 car. The rest had flat noses while the Benneton had a higher nose compared to the rest
That years Pacific also had a high nose, but what they're talking about is the floor, cars up until the 019 (Like the McLaren in the video) had a floor that stretched from the diffuser to the nose tip. The 019 came along and the floor stopped just after the drivers seat to create a splitter and created more down-force, the high nose was to work more air in that direction. By 1994 all cars had this new shorter floor with a slpitter but some kept to the lower noses to keep frontal centre of gravity lower.
What i meant was the overall car looked exactly like a modern F1 car from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The high nose and the seperated one piece front wing was the defining feature for that year’s benetton. Look at a benetton from 94 to a 98 F1 car. They almost look exactly the same
But why? Why does a high nose help when a low nose doesn't. Seems a flat bottom low nose would always be superior to something letting tons of air in, plus having a higher center of gravity.
High nose allows for a bigger airflow beneth the car and considerable downforce gains through the diffuser. Once they reduced diffuser sizes, the nose got lower.
Still funny though that the most successful designer, Adrian Newey, used his low nose design up till the early 2000nds. His cars always had a lower nose than the rest of the pack..
Higher is actually more danger. Especially now with the halo, as the nose could potentially get lodged into there instead of sliding off the side of the body.
Hey, an interview without interrupting each other! Good stuff 😀👍
Keep up the good work guys 👍
Hey, it’s you!!
Jonathan Straetman hahaha right
OK but how does this change the aero? Missed opportunity.
Darren Armstrong indeed I was wondering the same thing when it ended. Feels like they missed half the video.
It's a teaser video. You'll probably have to subscribe to Motorsports.tv premium services.
i believe it has something to do with suspension or the general height of the car instead of mainly done for aero
maybe less drag? dunno..

That front looks kinda like modern indycar
Fantastic! I don't think there is enough chat about Tyrrell!
The 019 appeared at Imola.
I miss the days when the cars were not cookie cutter and the technology was allowed to blossom.
That nose looks so awesome!!
Who agrees?

Thomas John Solidum This is earlyer

Benneton in 93 and 92 already had a high nose

it also had a traction control :P
Is this a tv series? Can I watch more of this somwhere?
just search peterwindsor (no spaces) and the full vids are there
VG03 Thank you very much.
@@VG03Racing you are a good man.Thank you
yes bring back high noses.
Lemonte no they look god awful
No please don't bring back anything from the past
diazzsama yeah because v6 engines and noses with condoms are better...
sure, at least they're using it instead old and slow technologies
diazzsama don't tell me that this year you were satisfied by Canada, Spain, Monaco...

Tyrrell started the trend but was Benetton that first debuted the nose that became commonplace in F1, as Tyrells was not a box whereas Benettons was
Very interesting :)
Monaco? Nah, it appeared at imola along with the new Benetton and Ferrari’s rounded aero too.. though Prost didn’t like it and raced the older.
Lower nose cones still looks aesthetically more pleasing. They are only higher today because of safety
LO22EE P actually it's the other way around
boboprime2000 how do you mean?
LO22EE P noses have been lowered again to increase safety

The Seahawks should have run it
GETnCH33KS Seahawks don't sponsor an f1 team.
The 6 wheeler, the water tank car in the turbo era and the high nose, tyrell did alot for f1
Tower wings too, certainly the most innovative team in the history of the sport.

in an interview Harvey said the nose was inspired by the WWII Corsair F4U airplane
