Of all the Les Mis stuff I've seen this one is closest to how I feel things would go down. Marius is in the midst of some legit PTSD. So many emotions from nostalgia and love for his friends to hollow desolation that he is now alone to tortured grief and guilt. I can see a lot of it on this guy's face! Too many other theatre kids just sing the song without feeling any of that! Smashing!
For me the absolute best Marius. Been a privilege to have watched him numerous times in London, and even getting better and better . The emotions he put in songs, especially this one is bam in your face, but also very subtle and small...Absolutely love this guy and he should get even more credit than he is getting now.
Rob was ideal as Marius ,I saw him in 2 of the Les Mis live concerts .It was only when I got home I found he was the guy who sang Maia in the BBC making of W.S.S . WOW !
To be honest, I preferred how you sang this in the West End production, though this was still impressive. How the hell do you manage to sing this without crying?
There is only person who can portray the agony of Marus in his face and raising of both arms he started it all off and gave a master class Michael Ball of course
Saw Rob first time in Sept 19 and his voice has entered my soul, I went as an Alfie fan came to out an Alfie & Rob fan. Although the concert his voice just amazing but his shear presence on stage spell binding. Sadly didn't manage to get his autograph
You can see him now as I will ...in SOUTH PACIFIC..Chichester Theatre....for me will only be a streaming version but still cant wait to see him perform
There's a grief that can't be spoken There's a pain goes on and on Empty chairs at empty tables Now my friends are dead and gone Here they talked of revolution Here it was they lit the flame Here they sang about tomorrow And tomorrow never came From the table in the corner They could see a world reborn And they rose with voices ringing And I can hear them now! The very words that they had sung Became their last communion On this lonely barricade At dawn Oh my friends, my friends forgive me That I live and you are gone There's a grief that can't be spoken There's a pain goes on and on Phantom faces at the window Phantom shadows on the floor Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friends will meet no more Oh my friends, my friends Don't ask me what your sacrifice was for Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friends will sing no more
truly beautiful he remembers how they used to meet together into how they voiced their grand ideals into remembering they are no longer around into the futility of their grand ideals into the cold reminder that they are dead and gone forever. such it is written such it is performed very difficult and very emotionally gripping
I have seen Les Mis 10 times at least and I think he was the best Marius of them all. Definitely the first to make cry during Empty Chairs.
yes he is the perfect look, mood, and voice for being marius
Agreed
Please make a trio of Rob, Eddie Redmayne and Chris McCarrell. That would be the best thing to come out of this year
XoLucyoX OMG YESSSSSSS
I thought Michael Ball the best from the first week it was on in London. But I love Rob Houchens voice too

playing marius in my high school production, so i’m watching as many others as i can, and i really think this is the best one i’ve seen.
Did you guys get to do it before Covid-19? Hope so :)
David Porter yeah, was honestly an amazing experience and it went fantastically
@@atzales8970 awesome to hear man 👌
He is and, in my opinion, always will be one of the best Marius'

一瞬で世界に引き込まれる。帝国劇場でロブの歌を聞けて幸せでした。
Wow! Such an intense emotional performance! And that was only at a concert!
wow I acturly had the chance to see him in the west end
There is only person who can portray the agony of Marus in his face and raising of both arms he started it all off and gave a master class Michael Ball of course
Michael set the scale and his Marius is out of question. But Rob Houchen comes very close. Very good singing and acting.

soo good, wish I could have seen you in the west end
OMG same here! I'm so sad I missed you! And Carrie
Dianne Hemmo saw it when I was 10 and that was 7 Years ago
He is my new vocal obsession. One of the best I've ever heard.

Took me back to when I saw you in Les Mis!... Amazing performance
I never miss an opportunity to see this talented man as Marius. No one does emotion like Rob imo. He draws you in every time 🙌🏻
I hope i could see this live someday
他真的是用生命在唱歌,完全融入於情境當中,聽完眼角不自主的流淚,偉大的的演唱家!!
There's a grief that can't be spoken
There's a pain goes on and on
Empty chairs at empty tables
Now my friends are dead and gone
Here they talked of revolution
Here it was they lit the flame

And tomorrow never came
From the table in the corner
They could see a world reborn
And they rose with voices ringing
And I can hear them now!
The very words that they had sung
Became their last communion
On this lonely barricade
At dawn
Oh my friends, my friends forgive me
That I live and you are gone
There's a grief that can't be spoken
There's a pain goes on and on
Phantom faces at the window
Phantom shadows on the floor
Empty chairs at empty tables
Where my friends will meet no more
Oh my friends, my friends
Don't ask me what your sacrifice was for
Empty chairs at empty tables
Where my friends will sing no more

Now he's gonna be Marius at the gielgud!!!

And was perfect
Beautifully sung

😎😎😎
Bravo, Rob!

absolutely amazing!!
Wonderful!
Excellent!
Brilliant, quite simply a brilliant performance...
2月待ってます🎵
WOW!
Amazing!!
He is stunning in every way.
his voice is just so smooth and nice to listen to wow
Your use of resonance is second to none.
Put him together with Eddie Redmayne and it would be an "Empty Chairs" duo for the ages. 😁😁😁😁
I think his and Eddie's performance are my two favorites of this song.
Rob is just fine without Eddie Redmayne.
Pure perfection 👌
Thumbs up for your own phrasing. It works!
The heck!!!!!!!
arrgggghh!!!!!
What key is this in?
Great performance but voice is a 6/10!
You notice his jap accent when he pronounces the "F" from "friends" as an "H". Excellent piece, tho.
Rob is english!
Oh, didn't know that. My bad, thanks for clarify it.@@higgy1837
