Am I the only one who NEVER skips over the intro? I just love it! Especially “Keeper of the old ways”. I wish I had a kitchen like yours. Thanks for all of the great recipes.
I love to see all the new recipes Mrs. Lori comes up with, I love this one too, I am getting hungry just watching Mr. Brown eating it!!😊🙏 Stay warm & safe, may God bless you all.
Chili is always good no matter how you do it. I've made it with ground beef, pork, sausage, turkey, or combo of, also deer"venison" , elk, reindeer"caribou", or combo of, but the one thing I do always is beans from scratch... Put em on to boil, put lid on, turn down heat to simmer for 1hr,, let cool, drain, put them in first to get hot before rest of ingredients are added, always turns out good
Also in El Paso all my Mexican friends put in a little small cubed potatoes, you can fry em up in bacon or burger grease first with your onions & garlic, or not, just throw em in there
Hello miss Laurie, I just wanted to share this with you.. the other day I asked my son what he would like for his cake for his birthday as he’s turning 18, and he asked me to make a homemade pumpkin pie... well I remembered that you had made a pie a few days ago and I made that exact recipe for his birthday desert today! He absolutely loved it and asked me to personally thank you miss Laurie for sharing the wonderful recipe with us! So from my baby (now turned a young man) I truly thank you! From our home to yours God bless.. Cindy & Lawrence from Ontario Canada🇨🇦♥️
Absolutely delicious! Hubby ate like a 16 year old boy--Had 2 huge helpings, and he's 83! He wanted to make sure we gave you two thumbs up on this recipe! We added two ingredients...A little Taco seasoning to the meat, and chopped up avocado to the toppings of lettuce, tomato & sour cream. This recipe will be included in our regular rotations from now on. It's that good! I don't cook anymore. The kids are grown, and hubby loves to cook, so I turned the kitchen over to him! Except for tonight! He was running all over town trying to find enchilado sauce...We live in a small town in NW Florida. After 3 stores and a lot of empty shelves, he was still driving around, and still looking! While he was searching, I made your Ozark Sloppy burritos, minus 1/3 of the sauce. Store #4 finally had the enchilada sauce, and we were good to go! Thanks for sharing your recipes! Hubby LOVES this! And he didn't even have to cook it!!!!
Thank you Mrs Lori!! I got your cookbooks today! I'm so thrilled! A friend who I told about your channel said she had gotten me one for Christmas. I got her one of those neat blending forks because she makes biscuits quite a bit. She's loves your channel, too. She let it slip that she didn't even think to get a cookbook for herself or her daughter in law. So one of these 3 is for her, one for my daughter in law and I think I'm going to give the last one to my granddaughter. She likes to cook here at my house. She's 16 (almost 17) and in a Christian school. They had a special on grandparent's day last year and she got up and told everyone about me teaching her how to crack an egg at 3 years old. She said she like to come to my house to cook because I almost always have all the ingredients she needs for some recipe she picks out of Pinterest. It was a very proud moment for me. Pinterest is okay, but there's just something special about looking through a cookbook.
I made pretty much the same thing years ago when my kids were young. I called it Mexican lasagna. Here I thought I invented that! Anyway, I would start with picante sauce on the bottom, tortillas, refried beans, meat, cheese, repeat. The final layer on the top was the cheese. My goodness, my dad loved it... We would be done eating, just sitting around the table, and he would keep grabbing a spoonful and putting more on his plate, and my mom would get on him for eating too much. The whole family really loved it. I also do something like enchiladas, I call them enchiritos like Taco bell's enchiritos. I put the sauce in the bottom, which is usually a mixture of stewed tomatoes and pecante sauce, then I put the burritos down which have already been filled with meat, cheese, refried beans, and sometimes tomatoes and onions, I stuff the 9x13 as tight as it will go with those burritos, then throw on another layer of sauce, my leftover taco meat, any leftover refried beans, and top it with cheese and green onions if I have them, and then bake in the oven until all the cheese is hot and melty. It is another big hit around our house, and with company! I enjoy watching you cook! I am wondering what kind of pots and pans you are using. They look really nice! Also, that baking dish is beautiful! Could you steer me in the right direction so that I might pick some of that cookware and bakeware up? Thanks!
Hello Mom Pofelski, I totally agree with what you said. A friend of mine gave me a sign for my kitchen that says... Our Kitchen, If I stirred it, it's homemade.😊 take care and God bless
You are two of the most beautiful people. I am in awe of how God continues to bless you. I just made your tamale pie last night to celebrate us getting to have an actual meal together. Hubby works 12-14 hour days with three hours of commute time daily. He got off on time yesterday so we had DINNER. It did not disappoint!!! I will definitely be trying this one. I have a similar layered enchilada casserole recipe that has become a family favorite over the years. I do the same with the taco meat but I think we need to add another freezer. I freeze more stuff now than I ever have. When the kids were home the challenge was always having enough to get everyone fed. Now that it's just the two of us the challenge is what to do with all the leftovers even AFTER scaling back my recipes. It sure is handy after a long day to be able to grab a home cooked meal from the freezer though. You have no idea the joy you have brought to so many homes and so many kitchens. ❤
I miss seeing you your so real but I can find you alit. This is Debby I would live you come and see you both but I don't I able to do that after Christmas will your cookbook be around love you my friend
I use hamburger in my chilli, but I often throw in some diced meat like leftover pork or steak, or leftover roast beef. The hamburger gives the chilli body and the meat chunks add texture. I throw in whatever leftovers I have. Those huge zucchini we all have this time of year, I peel and dice it up and freeze the chunks. When I make chilli or spaghetti sauce I throw a bag of those diced zucchini in. They disappear, but add fibre and nutrients. I added all kinds of diced, grated, veggies into my spaghetti and chilli to sneak extra veggies to my kids. They never knew. Now they want my recipes as they feed their own kids.
Me too! Cooking at our house, is crazy with an all-kinds of hours truck driver...he could eat this at 3 a.m. for breakfast, then pancakes and sausage for supper! I've about trained my stomach to do the same thing...and this looks delicious for any time of day to me!
I use hamburger meat too. For my chili. Hamburger stew. Taco. Gulash. Bierocks. Spaghetti. Is lasagna. Sloppy Joe's. An SOS. I've cooked 10 pounds of hamburger meat and seasoned. Put onions and green peppers in it. And then freeze it. Saves you time.
🤯 Could you imagine your Granny's expression when you explain to her you're making Ozark Mexican food!!!! The world has changed so much in the last 30 to 50 years.
I know! Ozark Mexican food, quite possibly the best example of real American food there is! Combo of Mexican, Hillbilly, & old school! Better than that pretentious french high- brow food any day
Wow! I was born in Imboden, 1953. Graduated from Williford in 1970. My parents are buried in Opposition Cemetery. I’ve lived in Nashville since 1993, but I’ll always call Arkansas home. God bless. Subscribed.
Miss Lori, if you made it - it’s home made! Looks delish. And yes I would put some jalapeños to it and when served I’d add some large tortilla corn chips around the individual plated casserole serving to use to scoop up all that deliciousness. TY so much for sharing! I love ur vids and recipes. Blessing Miss Lori and Mr. Brown.
Your voice is so comforting to me You remind me of my great Aunt Sally.. She passed a few years back. I've tried many of your recipes and they were at hit!! God bless.
Gotta love semi-homemade dishes. Just because we don't always make from scratch dishes, doesn't mean we don't know how to cook, the main thing we have the knowledge, just don't always have to use it!!!! Always been known for my cooking but people don't have to know that I'm a convenience cook and not telling them at this point!!!! Recipes are just foundations and up to us how we build on it....thanks for sharing and for all your hard work sharing your experiences, thoughts and knowledge with us.
My grandmothers used hamburger meat in their chilis. (We're from Arkansas as well.) Keep sharing the old and delicious ways with us. Thanks and blessings to you!
I do that same thing, and I do work full time.... semi-homemade is way better than frozen meals, and sometimes better than restaurants, too. I appreciate your channel, thank you so much for doing what you do.
Mrs Lori, you are perfect in my book. I bet Mr Brown would agree with me. Don't you worry about taking a break once in a while. If you want me to, I will come cook dinner for you sometime. I'm only 3 hours away.
I’m in your neck of the woods this weekend. My husband and I are Eureka Springs and will be attending the War Eagle Craft Fair this weekend. Our good family friends are overseers of the fair. We love this area of Arkansas.
Good Morning Mrs. Lori . Your semi home made . Ozark sloppy burritos . Looks so delicious . Another quick and simple meal . Thank you so much . For sharing your recipe . The Lord Bless . Both Of You .
I have been SO inspired by you. I have canned tomatoes and apples for years. But I found you and all your canning videos and over the last month have done potatoes, pears, carrots, and all kinds of beans. Waiting for cabbage harvest at farmers market. You taught me how to use my pressure canner… I really appreciate you! We have 6 kids and foster too so having shelves of food in hand helps so much!!! Thank you also for all of the great examples of a great marriage!
I love meals like this and I also love having taco meat in the freezer. It’s so versatile and everyone likes it. Here in Oklahoma, we make chili with ground beef. I just made some on Sunday and I froze some in my Souper Cubes so we will have an easy meal in the near future. Thanks for the video and recipe! 💐
Blessings to you Miss Lori and Mr. Brown! Miss Lori I am spreading what I believe God has told me, "Practice the art of wonder in preparation for this Christmas Season. I will be writing a 30 days of WONDER devotional starting Thanksgiving day.
I DO like these "semi-homemade" meals because I struggle to have the time to do everything by scratch. My family wouldn't know the difference! By the way, the wooden dish behind your stove top is gorgeous!
Ms Lori has some super cute, nice things. I don’t know what to call them but she had a water pitcher that’s like speckled, sort of old fashioned, farmhouse red and cream colored. I would love to know where to get that stuff. Who knows, she may have had it for years. 💞
This must be so good, Mr Brown didn't waste much of his eating time to comment! That hot and cold veggies combo is always a fav - I'll have to try this and thanks for sharing!
Thank you MS Lori for sharing your wonderful meals with Us. May You & Mr Brown continue to REAP the fruit of the Spirit. May everyday be filled with God's Grace. 🙏
My parents grew up in the foothills of the Ozark’s. I used to spend my summer’s with my cousin there. The best eating ever. Loved the daily life there. That’s my heaven! Keep Shining Bright!
I just love watching you and your husband!! Y'all are the best. My mom and I love watching your chanel. I'm making this tonight with deer meat it looks so yummy!!!
Ma , you make the coolest stuff to eat. Love watching you cook. The way you cook thing is amazing to watch. Somethings that I would have never tryed or eaten in my life , well the very same things, the way you make them make them look delicious, so now ma I'm eating my veggies to. T.Y for that. Blessing to you all.
I do something similar with leftover chicken or turkey mixed with Cream of Chicken and green chiles then layer it all in a round casserole dish with tortillas and cheese. My dad used to ask every Thanksgiving if I could please make him one with the leftover Turkey.
Larapin! 🤣😂 I haven’t heard that since my dad and his sisters passed away. Brought back lots of good memories of family and larapin food. 🤣😂 Burritos looked good and super easy. Will be trying this soon. God bless! ❤️🙏🏼❤️
Thank you for sharing that tip I've got 5pounds of hamburger I'm going to cook and add seasoning and onions. Separate into 5 one pound bag and freeze and when I need ground beef done and in the freezer. Thank you. 👍👍👍
Mmmm sounds good. A wonderful name. We love garlic too, and it is good for us. We have a source of good corn tortillas, and I use them and make ,Mexican lasagne. When I make my chili, with hamburger meat here, and there is leftovers, I layer it and corn tortillas, and cheese. And no, you can't have too much cheese.
This is definitely going on my meal plan! I don’t blame you, Miss Lori...I work also and sometimes I’m just tired after work! Thank you for sharing your recipes and time saving tips.
Morning Ms. Lori and Mr. Brown, hope everyone is doing well. I wake up every morning around 3 sometimes I sleep in until 4. I fix me a cup of coffee and start watching y'all. It makes my day better when I do. I'm gonna try this tonight. It's only me so I will use less meat and a smaller baking dish. I hope you both have a wonderful and blessed day.
Sensible and reasonable working woman!!! You and every one deserves a break!! we adore you too much not to be generous in our hearts for you and your needs to stay well at home, healthy and rested.
Just love the simplicity of your recipes. Now that we've retired, I've gone back to canning and back to recipes my aunts and mom taught me. Love watching you. Thank you and bless you both for sharing.
Nothing wrong with using store bought help at all 8 call it smart enough to know when to use stuff that will help That's what I do with my hamburger meat I fry it all up ,divide and put it in the freezer I've got a recipe you might like It's called green chili soup but 8 use it for smothered burritos It's hamburger ,a can of Rotel ,a can of refried beans or left over pinto beans with a little juice , small can of tomato sauce, chopped onion You can throw it in the crock pot to cook all day or on top of the store I usually triple the recipe It's good and easy Sometimes if I don't have tomato sauce I use wolf brand chili but I think it tastes better with the tomato sauce 8 make it all sorts of ways ,depends on what I have Then I pour some on a flour tortilla ,add cheese .and you can add all sorts of toppings Sometimes I just tear up the tortilla ,throw it in a bowl put the mixture on it with the cheese and whatever . If you wanted soup you just cut up tortillas in it when done but I never have My family loves it It also makes good nachos
Hey thanks for this. I feel good about using up canned helpers like tomatoes and beans. I want food that tastes good and is easy to make!! Bless this land that gave us this food. God Bless y'all!
Your dinner looks delicious. Nothing wrong with keeping stuff on hand to help you out with dinner that’s not totally 💯 % from scratch. It’s tuff working and getting dinner on the table when your exhausted.
Let um criticize Miss Lori while they sit on the couch eating lit’l Caesars cheesy bread watching RUclips. Bahaha I cook semi homemade most meals. As long as me and my husband like it that’s all that matters. P.S. and do the naysayers make their own salt. If not, they’re semi home cookers also. Lol just sayin The rest of us love you guys to pieces!!👩🌾💛💛🙏👍
Hi Ms. Lori. I got your homemade taco seasoning recipe and have not used store bought since. Your recipe looks really good, will give it a try. no you can never have too much cheese. You and Mr. Brown have a blessed week.
Hey MissLori! I’m what you might call a newbie to your channel…discovered you while going through hip surgery… your videos were like coming home. I farmed for 40 years and three meals a day was a must besides field work, gardening…I’m with you that a short cut when you can is a little blessing we give ourselves! I sneak a little time each day with a cup of coffee and Miss Lori and Mr Brown! Thank you for sharing your lives with us! Hugs from Ohio!
I just got tomato's off the plants yesterday and i'm way up north. red and awesome. This looks awesome, I love sloppy Tacos also though. LOL I have not made the Burrito style you just made but all my life of cooking I have made something we call chicken Sht. LOL it;s really the same thing you just made but with chicken and more green chilies and onions, and more cheese. I like mushrooms in even though some of my kin do not LOl I tell them well them pickem out! LOL yeah but really it;s just a green chili chicken enchilada casserole. awesome with rice and beans. I mean they love it so much I take it to every potluck, Election, neighborhood meeting, and my kids ( I have 6 daughters) have all taken it or the recipe to school for home ec and class parties. at some point or another and , Im not joking, the teachers will ask my younger daughter if shes bringing the chicken sht like her big sister did the year before. LOL I use the green enchilada sauce with that stuff though. I do have two cans of the red just sitting in there though so i will be trying this beefy kind as soon as everyone gets back in from their trips
I love the recipes that You share with Us. I really love when You ask Mr. Brown if Your food is good or not? I do that with My Recipes and also ask My Husband what I look like or if my make up is right before I start the day with Him. We have been together for 32 years and have been married for 31 years. I believe that still caring about weather or not We can still please, or make Our Man happy keeps a marriage happy. He still asks Me if He looks alright when We get more dressed up to go out to a nice restaurant. Remember the little things that You each fell in love with Your Spouse for back in Your dating days and give Each Other that love everyday. That keeps You in love and trying to create new things no matter how old We May get on the calendar. You 2 make Me feel So Happy in How much You still really love Each Other. I love it when You share about Your kids and Grandkids also.
Looks yummy 😋 Lori. I have an enchilada casserole recipe a lot like this from my aunt that was married to a full blooded Spaniard. Spicy with jalapeños and other spicy peppers he grew up on in Spain.
Absolutely Ms. Lori Home made is what ever you want it to be., I'll take all the help I can. Thank you for sharing Ms Lori have a blessed evening stay safe and healthy. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤

Oh! U don’t have to tell us that! We All know you do what u can . We have to make our lives easier. I admire you & mr. Brown so very much. As for me and mine - you don’t explain anything. Simply adore you both. Rx& J.
Now that would be worth an extra tums . I do the same thing cook up a batch of hamburg and freeze it, using some tonight as a matter of fact. Looks delish.
Let me start by saying his sounds so good, I am definitely making this! I would like to share my instant refried beans. I cook my pinto beans until tender, then drain and dehydrate the cooked beans. When we want refried beans I rehydrate the beans in a pan with a little water and mash, season the way you like. The advantage to this you can make as much or as little as you like and it only takes minutes! ♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓
My Mother from south Central KENTUCKY near Somerset, fried hers the same way as you did. As a kid i didn’t care for Okra. However now I love it and wish I could set down with my Momma and eat some Okra with her, she is in Heaven and this made me think of her . Thanks for sharing, a big fan of your family and channel.
Yum, I love all kinds of good casserole meals like this. I love my beans and taters but, I do love some spicy food! My daughter and I made some of your home made spice mixes and we really like them better than the store bought ones. We also made the Cream of something mix too. Thank you so much for sharing.
A really good casserole from the leftover freezer meat is, put meat on bottom later, cream of mushroom soup layer thick on top, OR, fry up some mushrooms in bacon grease, maybe add onions or garlic, layer that on top, with some cream, or cheese, then tater tots, or leftover mashed potatoes, it's like a poor man's Shepard's Pie
Boy-O-Boy can I get outraged for ignorant people. You continue doing what you do Mrs. Lori. Doesn't matter what you prepare we all eat with. Love you both. Best wishes 💐💙🙏
Yummy!! I’m definitely going to try this version, Miss Lori!! :)) I always use the hormel chili without beans too, but I never thought to mix in enchilada sauce and tomato sauce! I call them wet burritos, and my Mister is so picky, that he doesn’t like chili on his, so I rarely get to make them at all, just for myself. However, I’m thinking I could fool him with this casserole version..haha I always love when Mr Brown does a taste test too! You know he’s done some good eating all these years. He’s a lucky man!! :)) God Bless!! xoxo 🙏🏼🙏🏼🌯🧡👍
oh my ms lori u dona again i bet it was good ok if u have troubles with tomatoes sauces u put a pinch of baking soda or little more not to much it takes out the acid from the tomatoes my dad cook offshore for 14 years and he was good but there those little things i remember when he told me when he cook there that help a lot for me today so give it a try
I just have to say Godbless you all And your whole family your a wonderful cook very inspiring and I'm grateful to get to see all your wonderful recipes!!!
I made this for dinner last night - didn't have green chiles so I used some chipotle peppers instead. Absolutely delicious - thank you for sharing your recipe!

I’m from Texas and I use ground beef in my chili. And to answer your question: there is absolutely no such thing as too much cheese!
Agreed! Never too much cheese😉
I've always used ground beef in my chili. And we love cheese.

Taco omelets are good too ms. Lori! Put your seasoned taco meat in your omelet and add all the usual toppings on it when done.
We eat that often! Taco eggs with fried potatoes, onions and peppers, throw on a biscuit and cover in white gravy 😋

Would love that!
@@WhippoorwillHoller I'll make you some garlic cheese grits.
Ain’t no shame in cooking shortcuts Girl! Love this, love you. TFS!
I’m in your neck of the woods this weekend. My husband and I are Eureka Springs and will be attending the War Eagle Craft Fair this weekend. Our good family friends are overseers of the fair. We love this area of Arkansas.
Just watched the ending. You are a beautiful soul! 🙏🙌👩🌾💙
Happy Wednesday 🍁🍂 I hope everyone is having a wonderful day 🥰❤❤
Good Morning Mrs.
Hay Miss Lori, it's not good food without lots of onion. YUMMY!
GOD has been good to you ❤
You are aging beautifully 😏😘
May GOD'S blessings continue to find you. 🙏❤🤍💙🇺🇲💯
Ms Lori, my mother loved her Elvis Presley birthday cake!!! Thank you so much and God bless!🥰🥰
Your kitchen your rules.
Blessings to you Miss Lori and Mr. Brown! Miss Lori I am spreading what I believe God has told me, "Practice the art of wonder in preparation for this Christmas Season. I will be writing a 30 days of WONDER devotional starting Thanksgiving day.
That looks so yummy! Love the cheese strings when you served it. Can you ever have too much cheese? No! Thank you. 😀
I was thinking the same things! Loving that beautiful woodworking behind the stove top, too!
Wow! Silly me! I thought what I saw was a toasted french bread with a pool of melted cheese i the middle! Ha! I must be
MRS MAGOO!
Looks delish.
GOD BLESS & TYFS
Miss Lori & Mr.Brown. Love you so much. Even more today Made your Easy creamy pumpkin fudge.Unbelieveable !!! Now, YUM! Need to make this recipe.THX 🤗
Oh good!
Yay!! Love your videos Mrs. Lori! God bless you sister!
Must be good, Mr. Brown didn't want to stop eating and that says it all! Thanks for sharing God Bless
Love to listen to you talk. “Cook once, eat twice”
I made this last night. It was a hit and I‘ll definitely be making it again. I do a lot of “semi-homemade”. 😁
Where are you from James Shaw? My maiden name is Shaw, relatives from TX, OK, AZ
I do something similar with leftover chicken or turkey mixed with Cream of Chicken and green chiles then layer it all in a round casserole dish with tortillas and cheese. My dad used to ask every Thanksgiving if I could please make him one with the leftover Turkey.
That sounds really good too!
I made this for dinner on Friday night, it was so good! Love your recipes, Mrs. Lori!
The gift of time is priceless.
I will be making this with Mexican rice on the side. Thank you so much for all the recipes ❤
Thank you
Just love the simplicity of your recipes.
We all tweak our recipes at times, your supper looks delicious. 🥰🇬🇧
Thank you
Thanks for sharing. It looks good. Love the colors of the foods that you used. Be well.
I just got tomato's off the plants yesterday and i'm way up north. red and awesome. This looks awesome, I love sloppy Tacos also though. LOL
I have not made the Burrito style you just made but all my life of cooking I have made something we call chicken Sht.
Thanks for all you do!!!! I miss soo much what I grew up on and you are a fond reminder!!!
Looks yummy...i love your baking dish♥️
Looks warm and hearty. Just what I love. Thank you
Looks yummy 😋 Lori. I have an enchilada casserole recipe a lot like this from my aunt that was married to a full blooded Spaniard. Spicy with jalapeños and other spicy peppers he grew up on in Spain.
i could eat this anytime of the day.. great video.. thanks..
Absolutely Ms. Lori

Looks YUM!!!! We love you, Miss Lori and Mr. Brown!!!
Oh! U don’t have to tell us that! We
All know you do what u can . We have to make our lives easier. I admire you & mr. Brown so very much. As for me and mine - you don’t explain anything. Simply adore you both. Rx& J.
We love these burritos!! They are so easy to make and taste wonderful!
Oh there is that beautiful green double boiler behind you that I'm so jealous of...lol ..
Now that would be worth an extra tums . I do the same thing cook up a batch of hamburg and freeze it, using some tonight as a matter of fact. Looks delish.
Another great recipe from my favorite cook. You're the best Miss Lori. God bless you ❤️😇
Miss.Lorie. I didn't care if you scrape your bowl or not. You're food looks and I'm sure taste wonderful love your channel. Hey Mr. Brown.😊
♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓
This is the way life should be. Simple and family love.
I just made some fried squash & zucchini using the same method, turned out pretty good!
When you put it on the plate it looked absolutely amazing and so yummy! I really have a lot of respect for your values. God bless you and your family.
Thank you

That looks like the perfect cozy comfort meal for this changing weather!! Yummmm!
