At that time, all of Walmarts Stores were in the small small towns like this one in the video. Sam Walton (founder of Walmart) did that on purpose. He didn't want any competition by any of his stores. It would be years later when he start putting them in big cities. The man at the end of this video said it best, "A politician will make all kind of promises just to get your vote." Quote Unquote.

Coal camps were supposed to be temporary housing until the mine worked out but it's turned into this comgomeration of generational welfare that have been waiting on their next handout for over 60 years now. Fun fact, the very first food stamps were issued in McDowell County and nothing has improved. Just today it was flooded again because of ruthless land and coal companies logging the forest that used to hold the water on the mountains rather than flooding the hollers. It's time to pull the plug on the entire county and let nature have it back.

It's one of the reasons why Hillary lost. The people in the rust belt felt abandoned (5 million manufacturing jobs lost since 2000). They believe that it went oversea, but in truth, our productivity stayed the same, the jobs just went to machines. And more jobs will be lost in the future. To them, Hillary with her decades in politics, is part of the establishment that abandoned them. Came Trump, the outsider, and probably their last hope. Both parties should have helped them make the transition a long time ago. And I believe it's still time to do so. But they need to accept that coal energy is going to die out once alternative energy become more efficient.
