Tried this recipe today and absolutely loved it. As a family that isn't used to eating mackrel, we took a risk on this one, but after today, we're going to be using this recipe a lot more.
Tasty fish curry from Udupi/Mangalore region. Crush some garlic pods in 1-2tsp of coconut oil and add this at the last and close the lid for a few seconds. Taste of this curry will go to the next level. My grandma used to do this.

Using carom seeds is a good idea for this fish as this fish as well as fennel can be a bit gasy.
Bangude Pulimunchi good combination with boiled rice.

Some people can't understand English so u explain this bengali i think so better bengali language and better understand ur recipe.. Carry on
can i use Norwegian Mackerel for this,? is what i can get
Hi , I am getting a brownish color texture to my paste, how many red chillies ? Or can I add red chili powder for getting the red color?
That's because of the chilly you are using. Try using byadgi chillies or Kashmiri chillies (pick up any chilli with lots of creases on it). Even though they look dull in color, once you grind them they will be bright red.
Also do not use chilli powder, it doesn't taste the same. Byadgi and Kashmiri chillies when roasted and ground gives a color and flavor which can't be alternated with powder. And these chillies aren't spicy either so you can add a lot
@@latheshsalian7592 thank you , correct I didn't use that bedgi chilli. Next time I will use bedgi or kashmiri as you suggested. The taste was good none the less only color I got brownish instead of red and then I added some kashmiri chilli powder but still color wasn't like in the video.
Puli=sour,munchi=spicy...tulunadu special
Puli is Tamrind and Munchi is Chilly..
Same
Nice hair style chef 😄

You missed writing turmeric powder in the list of ingredients.
From Pakistan
Sir I prepared this just now but its taste is little bitter what is the reason for this
Can we use normal oil
Coconut oil would be Better!!!!
Did I miss it or there is no salt required? In usual fish curry we do add salt as per taste.
Salt was added when the paste was being mixed with the oil in the pan
Check 5:06
What happened to retained Tamarind water
U can use it if curry is spicy or if you need some more sourness or you can just use it for other recipes
Not needed salt?
Do you filet the fish? Or are the bones ok? Thank you
Leave the bones on After cooking eat carefully and don't talk while eating fish cooked using mangalorean recipe 😁
Hi sir
Hi Arjun. What's up?
After watching this video I tried this recipe yesterday but I dint get good results. Taste was like turned out little bitter and color is also not as red.... I dont know what mistake I have done..😔
