I think the Sonic Lost World Hyrule DLC deserves an honorable mention here. Although it's not a Zelda game it does have Sonic traveling to Hyrule where he does meet Link. I've found that not a lot of people actually know that this crossover exists.
@@StabilizeYTwell it would seem the algo is taking an interest as you were in my recommendations this morning, which is great. To be fair your channel is right in my wheelhouse, but still. Easy sub.
We actually had the Barcode Battler growing up - though I didn't know there was a Zelda set in Japan! Most of the fun of it was that ANY barcode worked as long as you could swipe it through the scanner. Fruit Loops vs Cheerios? Cookies vs a bag of chips? Barbie vs Hot Wheels? All doable! The packaging for everything else we received that Christmas morning didn't see it coming.
Hi, owner of the zelda wrist watch here It's, uh, not the best. My watch is kinda busted slightly but even if it wasn't, it'd be like a 4/10 experience at best. The original Zelda G&W slader tho, how dare you good sir. It's fun! :p Edit: I also own an unopened zelda barcode battler lol.
I think the tingle games are fascinating. They take all the weirdest parts of zelda and mash them with Mother's 3 writing and world design. Massive respect for nintendo for never being afraid to be as weird as they are.
Can't believe this only has 12k views a week after it was posted, this video was great and told me about a ton of games I had no idea existed, great video!
I have watched let's plays of these two Tingle games and of course they have their flaws but they also have a certain charme and I will always fondly remember them. I think the boss fight in Tingle's Rosey-Rupee Land is pretty darn funny and I like the story and characters in Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love.
Link's Crossbow Training was surprisingly fun game and imo best "Duck Hunt" successors that Nintendo has done imo. Me and one of my friend used to try get beat our high scores few years. :D
Amazing video! really well paced and facsniating. I am a massive zelda fan and i knew all of theses except for Zelda's adventure but was enratptured none the less. I assume it was way to late to comment on it but the bit in that section where you were talking about how much people want a game where yopu play as zelda is very funny given recent news.
I've thought about making a video like this myself! I'm actually impressed at the thoroughness of this video! I was sure some of the more obscure stuff like the Game Watch and Barcade Battler would be absent, so props for including them! I'm not actually through with the video yet, so I could be wrong, but it does look like you've missed at least 1 game, The Legend of Zelda Battle Quest, a game from Nintendoland on Wii U, though I suppose you could argue it doesn't count since it's not a stand-alone game.
Fantastic overview video. I can proudly say, that I own every single one of these games and the systems required to play them. The only exceptions are the Satellaview games. Also, I had to use unofficial means to get the ‘too much tingle pack’ running on my non-japanese DSi. I can’t be bothered with generic Zelda merchandise, art books, special editions. For me, everything that counts is having a playable version of EVERY Zelda game, including spin-offs. I also have beaten most of them by this point. Still working on 100%ing the Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, and at some point, I will need to take some time to learn properly how the Barcode Battler works, and how I can ‘beat’ the Zelda deck of cards. Some others I like to include in my count of spin-offs are the two Nintendo Adventure Books that feature the Legend of Zelda. Sure, they are not video games but some kind of game nevertheless. Finally, I would really love the get my hands on the Zelda board games by Milton Bradley (1988) and Bandai (1986). Maybe one day…
Whenever I see the CD-i I just get nostalgic for the RUclips poop era xD "Mah boi, this peace is what all true warriors strrrrive for." "My ship sails in the morning." "Oh boy! I'm so hungry, I could eat an octorock!" "You've got to be kidding." "You dare bring light to my lair? YOU MUST DIE!" "Mmm. Lamp oil, ropes, bombs. You want it? It's yours, my friend; as long as you have enough rubies." Brb, going to go look up some YTPs
You could actually scan different bar codes off of different things, not just the carss.. i had a barcode battler. Got it as a Christmas gift from my uncle..
If you like Hyrule Warriors, its definitely worth playing the Switch version. All the dlc, plus all the stuff added for the portable version. New charcters, maps, story levels, etc, its great! Im nowhere near 100%, but regularly pick it up and play for a bit. Best way to play that game, again, if you like the gameplay style
Next maybe a look at ever Mario, Pokémon or other game spin off or at all Nintendo cameos or AR every kind of Mario coin? Maybe a look at comics, manga and cartoons? Or adds.
the BS zelda games aren’t really spin-offs, third quest and fourth quest are like remixes almost and ancient stone tablets I would even consider them “mainline” games before I call them spin-offs. Also tetra trackers is not it’s own game, it’s on the Japanese flour swords adventures disc, that’s like calling master mode a “spinoff game”
I don't know that I'd consider them mainline, as they canonically star the Satellaview mascot characters instead of Link, but they ARE games that everyone should play.
The only version of the original Hyrule Warriors I have is the 3DS one, Legends, and to be honest I did once consider picking up the Wii U version long ago, but after looking into it I learned just how comparatively barebones the Wii U version was compared to Legends that I lost all interest in the Wii U version as better graphics and animations wasn't worth how little there was to do in it and how many fewer characters there were unless I wanted to pay extra for DLC in order to get them. Later on, of course the Switch version was announced some years later, but by that point I had gotten so far into Legends and still had more to do with the adventure maps that I decided to pass on the Switch port, also because the Switch version also lacked the really neat My Fairy feature that was a part of Legends that made the game flow a bit better I felt.
Wait. You're complimenting the gameplay of the original Hyrule Warriors. So that whole issue of telling the characters you aren't controlling where to go, only for them to walk in the opposite direction and staying there isn't a thing for other people? Wtf. ... Having to scroll through that endlessly long list of items whenever you have to switch to another one is also quite frustrating. Especially when you need to switch every five seconds while on a restrictive timer. (Hello, final level of the Wind Waker arc. I'm still not over you.) I like that game. But you can definitely tell that the developers had a couple more years of experience when making AoC.
This was refreshing. Didn’t know about Nintendo cutting ties with Philips, then Philips putting out those horrific discs called games. Thought they still had a partnership when those were released. Let Nintendo be Nintendo. Peace!-)
80s/90s kid here. The Game & Watch and LCD Watch games weren't great, even back then.Given a choice, I'd probably have just brought the manual along to read it.
i remember playing bs the legend of zelda ancient stone tablets one time on accident, as a kid i got like those game consoles that where pirated hardware and one of those games was that one i played and suddenly when i was like 16 i remember that weird game i tried to play as a kid since i did just beat the legend of zelda a link to the past i search high and low for it until i found it and with my limited at the time english just played the absolute crap out of the game is pretty good not as good as a link to the past, but still a fun game
We had the Game Watch growing up. *Takes Geritol* It was actually pretty cool. We also had the hand held Aladdin and Lion King. Of COURSE the controls were shit. Did we care? Nope. Now, get off my lawn, you whippersnappers.
Thats a mainline game. Same with the four swords stuff. It having the traditional top down gameplay and that its on the timeline aside. If it has The Legend of Zelda in its title, its a mainline game.
14:30 Adding a little info to that: Sony found out that Nintendo was working with Philips at the 1991 CES when, while they were in the showfloor, Nintendo announced to the world that Philips was creating a CD addon for the SNES. Sony unveiled their SNES CD addon the day before, at the same showfloor, and now they were watching Nintendo shove all their work to the side. It's not just that Sony and Nintendo didn't see eye-to-eye... Nintendo wanted to join forces with Philips just to say F-you to Sony and nothing more.
@43:52 Uhh bro age of calamity IS cannon according to the devs of zelda! regardless of how the gameplay says otherwise if the offical zelda team says its cannon. you can't just ignore that man! the other Hyrule warriors sure but not AOC. give it the justice it deserves smh.
I would only count Nintendo and cdi games, not fan games. No hacks or mods either. Only real games made by paid labor for products Nintendo can't take to court.
@@UltraIceMan275I'm gonna be honest, if someone is crazy enough to investigate about Zelda barcodes from 34 years ago, they are probably way in too deep to not know about new releases
