    Adam was a great guest, that was nice of him to give us his time to talk about his involvement with the band. That was really cool.

    This episode kicked butt. Loved it. Great insight on writing songs, and hearing from Adam Mitchell on his experience with KISS. I totally agree with him on Crazy Night's production. Anyway, keep up the fine work. I wish that there was a bit more on VV, but it was a great episode nonetheless.

    Howdy folks. Another fascinating episode of the best KISS show out there. I really enjoyed this interview with Adam Mitchell. He seemed to be very open about sharing his personal memories of working creatively with KISS as well as providing some useful insights into the whole song publication process. Great episode guys. I would still like to see you all do a segment in which listeners get to pick out favorite Three Sides Of The Coin host and why. I think it would be a gas. Groovey.

    This was a great episode. I know it's hard to get good people on, but I think it would be great to hear Vinnie Poncia and James Michael Jacksons thoughts and recollections from the eras that they produced those albums. You never hear about those times as much as Ezrin and Kramer. Just a thought.

    "I'll Fight Hell To Hold You".
    (Mitchell/Kulick/Stanley).
    What a great Paul song💜.
    What a great KISS💋song.
    What Adam said about Vinnie is not a surprise.
    He wrote a song "(Tears").
    But Carmine Appice says "He didn't".
    In Vinnie's Expo interview he liked to say:
    "I wrote the song".
    Then he seemingly correted himself: "WE wrote the song".
    Eric Carr said in an old interview: Paul and Gene structured his solos.
    It's not Vinnie who saved KISS. He has to accept that it was team-work.

    I love the guests you guys have on this show. Adam Mitchell was very interesting. I like his ideas about songwriting. I agree that song comes first it has to be great. However sometimes the "idea" might be the "music" eg Pearl Jam's "Ten", or if we are talking Metallica "Orion" is fantastic but no lyrics there. Not sure I wanted to know about Mitch's orgasm. LOL Then again "Vaseline" is my favorite STP song. Now there's an "idea". Actually I hate the lyrics, it just sounds really cool.

    For something with "Vinnie Vincent" in the title i was hoping they'd talk about him more but they seem more interested in asking Adam about the songs he wrote with KISS and about Gene and Paul than anything to do with Vinnie and it shows when Adam Mitchell talks about his talent and the reason he got the job being the members felt he could play like Ace their biased views just come through their faces were hilarious when he told them that XD. Gene even came out and said Vinnie was probably the most talented replacement member they got and in his opinion plays rings around Ace. Unfortunately he was a difficult pain in the ass who had an ego to rival Gene but y'know. That one ended quickly probably because Vinnie was too similar to Gene and Paul and it was hard for them to get along because they wanted a hired gun who was happy to just play and write songs then never be in the spotlight and Vinnie wanted to be the star. Not because he couldn't play well and contribute to the band.

    Does Mitch have a pair of the Ace Frehley Spaceman sunglasses? If so, can you persuade him to model them? Speaking of which, with Halloween coming up, any chance of a Halloween special? You could talk about which songs you'd choose as your Halloween picks, Halloween memories, events, Halloween costumes/merchandise/collectibles then and now (coolest, most ridiculous, etc., Mitch could have a field day with this one). Great show, guys. Very cool hearing Adam's thoughts on writing.

  • @MichaelBrandvold
    @MichaelBrandvold  11 лет назад

    That's fine if Adam thinks that. I don't think VV is. They are mine? I don't recall him writing my favorite songs on Destroyer or Crazy Nights. Why does it bother you so much if I don't think highly of VV? It's just my opinion, shouldn't change how you feel.

    Excellent interview. However a rare missed opportunity by not asking Adam what it was like meeting Kiss out of makeup at a time when it was one of their alluring features. Also did Gene have him sign any legal documents about not describing how he looks to sketch artist and selling it to People magazine? Keep up the solid insights!

    Is minute 50 and nobody has talked a little single word about Vinnie Vincent? I would have liked to know from the perspective a wonderful guy as Adam Mitchell What Vinnie brought to the table on terms o musical ideas, songwriting or guitar playing. I think that everybody excepting Adam of course, have very strong and preconceived ideas, about the "Creatures of the Night" time period, and all the time are trying to conduct de Adam answers only to what they want to hear.

    And he has done what with all of this amazing talent in the last 20 years? Yeah that;s right nothing... you can't argue that point. Nobody wants to play with him and he can't even release his own music. Though he will presell it and take your money and never give you anything in return. He wouldn't have a clue how to do a podcast, just like no idea how to do a website.

    G&P and others can think he has talent, I just don't. COTN is not a great album because VV was involved. Co-wrote could mean many things... a simple lyric and nothing more. As a musician you know that. Why is it a problem that I dismiss him like this. It shouldn't change how you feel.

    I'm merely stating an opinion the same way you do, that's all. It's not a problem - I just feel that broadcasters with as much love as you all clearly have for the band are just a little too dismissive of his input. No biggie-just thought I'd offer a different perspective from here in the UK :o)

  • @MichaelBrandvold
    @MichaelBrandvold  11 лет назад

    Just his opinion. When I first heard VV on COTN I thought it was Ace. I couldn't tell it was someone new. It is complete nonsense for you to discount someone who has a opinion you don't agree with.

    Seriously guys....you didn't immediately know that Killers was the bridge between The Elder and Creatures?

  • @nasals
    @nasals 11 лет назад

    Yes and to quote Adam Mitchell on Tears " a big hit for Tom Waite" and on Crazy Nights " a huge hit around the world" , both of which are hyperbole and prove that he was interested in commercial success, this is his living. If you research his work, the majority of it falls into lesser tracks on the albums of established artists. He is good at talking himself up but he doesn't have the runs on the board , IMO. He hasn't produced anything to justify the tickets he has on himself.

    Ahhh ok, so you have to have played the game to have an opinion on something that you're passionate about ? No one with a critical mind is entitiled to critique a movie because they're not an actor or director ? or music because they don't play an instrument or write songs ? The bottom line is whether it is sport or the arts people can make up their own mind of what they think is good. This is my opinion on Adam Mitchell. I like you guys and I like your show but no need to be so defensive.

    What have we got wrong about Vinnie? He didn't save the band. He hasn't proved to be the great and successful artist a very few fans claim. He is crazy. He has ripped off his fans. Did I miss anything else about the guy?

  • @MichaelBrandvold
    @MichaelBrandvold  11 лет назад +1

    I appreciate your comments, but I just never thought he had talent. His guitar playing is terrible. His solo band I couldn't stand. Once it became Slaughter I really enjoyed it.

  • @thedant
    @thedant 11 лет назад

    He must have possessed at least a modicum of talent, or he wouldn't have been used as a writer by anybody - and if he became that bereft of talent as time went on, Gene & Paul would never have re-enlisted him to co-write Unholy, I Just Wanna etc on 'Revenge'. You can't on the one hand, love 'Creatures' & 'LIU' as albums whilst on the other deriding the input of a bloke who co-wrote half the songs on those records. I agree he's a fool, but you're better than this being so deliberately dismissive

  • @LadySpace01
    @LadySpace01 11 лет назад

    And sometimes the lyrics to many KISS songs are really crappy and they sound like sexist neanderthals. But I love them so much.

  • @thedant
    @thedant 11 лет назад

    Speaking as a musician, writer & KISS fan, I fail to understand any argument that states Vinnie possesses no talent. I believe that's such a poor sweeping statement. Granted, he is utterly flawed as a person which led to many errors of judgement and poor perspective, but 'no talent'? I couldn't disagree with you more. He didn't save KISS, but he made a far greater contribution than you would all care to admit. I enjoy the show, however!

  • @thedant
    @thedant 11 лет назад

    Of course. I'm just trying to appeal to your better nature, that's all :o)

  • @nasals
    @nasals 11 лет назад

    With respect to Vinnie Vincent, you are entitled to your opinion but I never questioned your credbility, I questioned Adam's when he stated that Vinnie sounds just like Ace, this is the first time I ever heard that and it is complete nonsense. You need to take his statements regarding Vinnie with a grain of salt as he has an obvious affiliation with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley so his statements are completely biased.

  • @LadySpace01
    @LadySpace01 11 лет назад

    I mean the lyrics to some of the songs make them sound like they are by nature sexist neanderthals. ("crappy" poor choice for a word on my part) I am not saying I dislike those songs. Actually they have a fun rock n roll feel to them. I guess at their various heights of fame they had a smorgasbord of women throwing themselves at them. Gene has always been a very proud neanderthal. Quote Gene "You play the guitar with your dick" and the infamous "I have slept with x many thousands of women".

  • @blueplayer1
    @blueplayer1 11 лет назад

    i think vv is a great singer/song writer ,guitar player average i feel creatures he plays great solos when they are slower,when they are fast he plays too many notes that are not adding anything but taking away from the songs. although some of the solos he plays on creatures sound thin because of the production,. but a more self destuctive rock person you would never meet.he could have made a fortune writing and playing no need to bee seen ,small man syndrome i feel he has. great show guys.

  • @nasals
    @nasals 11 лет назад

    I wasn't that impressed with Adam Mitchell. I looked up his credentials and while he has managed to carve a decent career in the music industry, he's never had a song of his go Top 10 let alone #1 hit, so for him to be providing song-writing tutorials is abit rich. Most serious musicians figure this out for themselves organically. COTN and CN are really good songs, I love them but for me they have Paul Stanley written all over them. His comments on Vinnie's style question his credibility.
